Hmm... I don't think Mirror's Edge has been listed...

It is a little known game (well... in my experience it is) that I had a lot of fun with...
Wouldn't exactly call it little known...that a bit far. It was on a cover of game informer, there is merchandise, Yahtzee reviewed it...not really that unknown, just not very popular.

Anyways, mine is called SLAI: Steel Lancer Arena International. It's an old mech arena game for the PS2 with some great gameplay, good story, and a great ride.

Stronghold Crusader. I doubt whether or not it is a very pbscure title, but I had tons... no, gigatons of fun with it. The term "mindless fun" doesn't usually apply to RTS's, but this one is just that.

The Suffering. One of the scariest survival action horror games ever made. I've yet to play a game as scary as The Suffering. It's set in a prison which is scary enough on it's own with out the various hell spawn running around killing everyone.

was a pretty good game, but i never really thought of it as scary... off putting maybe, creepy... definetly, but not really scary. Fetal Frame was scary as shit, at least to me.

OT: favorite unheard of game: Snafu

Is Gitaroo Man well known? Not very sure that's why... If so, my choices will be Tales of Symphonia and Gitaroo Man. Tales of Symphonia has good gameplay, a fantastic and long story, and is just a great game altogether.

Tombi/Tomba - Blends platforming and RPG awesomely.
Kula World - The best puzzle game I've ever played.

These two games were gems of my childhood along with more known ones like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

Nobody has yet listed Riviera: The Promised Land or Tales of Symphonia. Two fantastic games that nobody I've met has ever heard of.
Tales of Symphonia is one of the top 20 played games on the Wii. Riviera's new to me though.

Dungeon keeper 1 and 2. Freespace 1 and 2, honostly anything that can be found on GoodOldGames.com's game selection counts towards this discussion i think.
Wrong, anything in Good Old Games is automatically disqualified. The reason the games are on that list is because plenty of people played and loved them.

Truly Theme Hospital was a wonderful game. And not that unknown, in fact. I noticed a lot of people misunderstands "unknown" for "just old". Also? Republic Commando being forgotten is one of humanity's worst crimes.

So! Now that I've been established as an elitistic prick, I'd like to list mine. Sorry if some got already mentioned.

Alright, lessee:

- Hollywood Monsters by Pendulo Studios, and to that extent, Igor: Objetivo Uikokahonia. A couple of adventure games by the aforementioned company that despite its quality (Hollywood Monsters was hand-drawn, and really good) never really got outside of Spain. There was a somehow more famous saga called Runaway, which retains some of their spirit.

- Evolva. Now I don't really know if this one made it big time, but I don't quite remember it as being super-famous. It was a third-person action game about a team of four extraterrestrial soldiers who could absorb -and evolve, hence the name- their enemies, developing new skills depending on what they consumed. It was complex, it was fun and it had amazing graphics.

- Quest 64, or Holy Magic Century as it was called in Europe. A N64 RPG which was pretty massive for the console, and that usually is looked down on. It surely wasn't perfect, but I had a blast of a time with it.

- LSD for the Playstation 1. A randomized and bizarre dream simulator where everything can be a portal to an even more bizarre room, and where you can land on a city where the buildings are covered with human faces. How this game isn't hailed as one of the best in human history escapes me.

- Chibi-Robo for the Gamecube. This game got riiiight about the end of its console's lifespan and unfortunately not many people played it. I believe there is a Wii port, though, and don't know if it made the game more popular.

- Oh! Oh! Oh! And Sparkster for the Genesis. I kinda guess this one is still pretty much remembered in the nostalgic community, but due to it being launched during the furry-cute-with-a-'tude mascot era didn't get too hot, which it's a shame since it had pretty good controls and flow, and because in my opinion it would have made for a really nice game series

- And finally (and I'm sure someone must've been added this one already) Cybernator for the SNES. I think the only reason it isn't remembered on the whole of the gaming community as one of the best platformer-shooter games out there is because it had quite a lot of distribution problems outside of Japan

Also, if you want more forgotten / overlooked gaming gems, I'd suggest visiting this site [http://hardcoregaming101.net].

Damn, nothing from the '90s? Well that means I can't mention anything about Sid Meier's Gettysburg then, the brilliant Civil War RTS that it was...I'm not sure how popular Sid Meier's Pirates was, but I absolutely enjoyed every moment I spent with it

Ok ive done a quick search through and no-one has mentioned Arcanum! I think that proves how unknown it is. Made by trokia games who also made Vampire the Maskerade: Bloodlines. Just as amazingly open and unique with just as bad bug problem. If you like open RPGs like fallout arcanum makes them look linear

Also I didnt search for this one but "Ceville" is a suprising amount of fun with an awsome humour

Dynasty Tactics 2. It's part of a spinoff to the Dynasty Warriors series (which also seems to be quite unheard of come to think about it). The game had a lot of good strategy and planning and a good variety of troops, tactics, items and character models. Plus the campaigns were good, long and had branching paths that lead to copletely different storylines and endings.

Also the multiplayer is really fun if you play with friends who like the game. I had a game that took more than 2 hours to finish before I defeated my friend's commander.

None of these are unheard of, but they are old enough to count as obscure in certain circles:

Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2
Evil Genius
(Both the above are management simulators, similar in many respects to Dwarf Fortress)
Ground Control (Favorite RTS of all time)
Battlezone 1 & 2 (First Person Real Time Strategy game)
Codename Outbreak (Some eastern european/russian made FPS I found in a bin. One of the best co-op games I've ever played. Similar in many ways to Ghost Recon though it came out years before).

Venus and Braves for the PS2. It only came out in Japanese, but it was a great TBS RPG. Great music, awesome storyline, and very unique battle system that I've yet to see in other games.

Well I've heard of or played every one on the first page :)P) but I'll throw a curve-ball with the RTS Alchemist.

I've still got the disk somewhere, but I doubt it'll run. From memory, its races were based mostly off folklore and legend...I don't remember much and never got far, but I recall the standard heroic knight-race, a race of vampires and werewolves that had to hibernate in the day, and some plant and scarecrow-based race with a witch turning bits of the level into living monsters.

I have never found anyone who's heard of the game, nor ever seen the game in shops and online. I have no clue where I got it from...

Or a little less obscure: Panzer Dragoon Orta. If you have a working Xbox and can find it, I highly recommend it. It's a rail-shooter in the vein of Lylat Wars (or Starfox 64), but with dragons and a plethora of eye-candy and strange lore.

The Graveyard is amongst my favorites in the "indescribable" genre.
Wow, thanks for that. I've got The Path, didn't even think to check what else they'd done. That was very enjoyable, I must say.

NetStorm: Islands at War.

The company REALLY shouldn't have named themselves Titanic Entertainment. They might not have sunk.
