Try not to list any games from like the 1990's and I know a lot of these threads are made but this time you CANNOT list one that has been listed.

Mine is Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. Its probably a FACT that I was amongst the 5 people that actually played this game. It was/is still one of the best adventure games I've ever played. It combines action and platforming (controlling Sphinx) and puzzle soling (thats REAL PUZZLE solving, not push block here jump on switch, you'll genuinely need to think) for the mummy character. The story between them both and how they come together make it a great game.
I had that game surprisingly, but I just didn't enjoy it. I couldn't even make it to the actual puzzles because I just didn't like it.

But I did try it ebcause I heard it was one of those magnificent gems that people don't try (Like Psychonauts)

I do love Psychonauts...

Indigo Prophecy. More of a movie than a game, and was made by the guys who brought us last years Heavy Rain.
Come on, everyone's heard of that game.
Really? Cause I have mentioned it to twenty people and the response is always "Is that the new emo band playing at the park this weekend?"
I have yet to read a single review of Heavy Rain that doesn't bring up Indigo Prophecy/Farenheit, and there aren't very many discussions of Heavy Rain on here that don't mention it either.
Like I said, Quantic Dream made only two games-Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain. They are pretty similar in execution, but totally different stories. Can't wait to get a PS3 to play Heavy Rain.
Actually, Quantic is responsible for another called Omikron: The Nomad Soul way back in the late 90's. It was adventure, like Fahrenheit, but it had other combo elements, too. Not a bad game, but hard to find now.

Ah, for my favorite unknown gem, I love me some Still Life. Pretty dark adventure game, with great story and characters. Brilliant!!!

A little SNES game called Lufia 2 (or Lufia 2: The Rise of the Sinistrals if you're being a fag). Frigging amazing RPG which I prefer over both Chrono Trigger and Legend of Mana (which, if you knew me, is BIG).

Please please try it. And yes I realise its from the 90's but who cares.
Did you know they made an Action RPG re-imagining on the DS? It's okay to be honest, not really as good as the SNES version.
I have, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Not expecting much, I've heard it isn't great.

Read IGN's review it got an 8.5

PS: Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Trigger/Cross, and the rest of Squares awesome PS1 RPG lineup was most likely played by a majority of us. Try to list a random game you bought that surprised you.
I loved Sphinx, that game was great.

Tomba! [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomba!] 1 and 2. I don't know how obscure these games were elsewhere, but I know that they were basically unheard of around here when they came out (and still are today).
I played the demo of that game a while back.

OT: Mine would be the soon to be released Frozen Synapse and the old PS1 games Front Mission 3 and Omega Boost.

Okami maybe some what heard of but many people have probably never heard of it. They also might not be interested since it lacks the action of cod or what ever game a majority of people supposedly like.

no more hero also might be considered unheard of by some. looking beyond it's flaws it has a lot of charm to it.

Republic commando for the original xbox. God I love that game. Whenever I mention it though,I sware that I can sense the ocean of "what" about to appear. I know alot of you guys haveplayed it, but in my perspective there ya go.
Literally no one I've ever known has heard of this game.
For a gritty FPS it really had me invested.
I shall spend the rest of my existence waiting for the very necessary sequel.

EXTRA:
This game taught us that "Blast" was a curse word.

Whiplash on the PS2.

I've posted this before on the site and got quoted about 13 times asking me what it was about. It never sold well but it's still one of the funniest and greatest games I've ever played.

I've also mentioned Theme Hospital amongst friends and gotten totally blank looks back. Although I'm guessing most people here will have played it so I'll suggest it in a half hearted manner, see what happens.
Holy shit, I thought I was the only one who ever heard of it! Good to know there are others out there.

So, the answer is The Dark Eye. Four Edgar Allen Poe stories wrapped together, three played through the eyes of the murderer AND the murdered. All in claymation. It's the definition of mindscrew.

Nice use of blood, too. Not very much, so what's there is much more effective.
Wow, that sounds fantastic. I really need to find a copy of this now.

OP: I'd say Flower, Sun, and Rain it's one of suda51's earlier games, but it somewhat recently got ported to the DS. It's really not that great in terms of gameplay, but the story is uhh.. interesting (after beating it the first time I had to lie down for a bit to think about what just happened)... and the humour in it is some of the best I've ever seen in a game (actually at a few points in the game it even breaks the 4th wall to point out how bad the gameplay is). Yeah, it's a really unique game experience, it's almost a parody of old puzzle/adventure games, and at times seems to make fun of you for playing it.

Good luck finding a copy though, I'm lucky to still have mine.

Fun game, gives me one of my favorite female video game characters and two of my favorite video game characters period.

Cryostasis, by far one of the deepest stories in a game since STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl's bad endings and also very creepy and unsettling.

Mr. Mosquito. Weird game but really fun.

Little Big Adventure.
It it seriously one of the best games ever made and NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT!

Phantom Crash, A pretty decent mech fighting game for the original Xbox. Definitely a Japanese game though, didn't understand much of the humor of the game.

Radiata Stories on the PS2. Maybe not the least known ever but still under the radar due to the powerhouse of RPGs the PS2 was. This game got me interested in Tri-Ace.
