Oh PETA. You aren't doing rational vegetarians any favors. PETA's sort of like a left-wing Glenn Beck.
I don't see them as left wing at all. They're extremely right wing in their tactics and message.

I see how the general idea of "veggies=hippies-left wing" would make you equate PETA with left wingism, but as a left winger myself I fucking hate the thought of being associate with those bellends.
Vegetarians are usually associated with the left far more than the right. I'm a left-winger too, by the way, so I hope you don't think I'm lumping you in with PETA. Even if I'm wrong and they aren't left-leaning, just by being associated with the left, PETA aren't doing rational vegetarians, or rational liberals, any favors.

Its a good thing there has never been a fat vegan
I have a colleague who is vegetarian and 20 kilo overweight. But it's because of the medication he has to take.

From fur is murder to giving your child meat is abuse.

Oh, PETA, you just keep getting classier and classier. I suppose the next logical conclusion would be to invoke Godwin's Law and equate people who put their dogs in cages to Nazis and concentration camps.
Too late: http://www.animalscam.com/peta_7things.cfm

6) PETA has compared Jewish victims of the Nazi Holocaust to farm animals and Jesus Christ to pigs.(...)

Strawman has a point. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StrawmanHasAPoint]

Hey, Peta. I eat meat and I'm actually quite healthy!

I dont oppose everything [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StrawmanPolitical]. Some things i oppose just for fun.

Though this is one of the things i do oppose.

Also dont take quotes out of context. That is actually on the Insane Troll Logic [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InsaneTrollLogic] page. Under Wesern Animation, 4th sub-entry under the Simpsons.

PETA kills any animal it "rescues" if it is deemed "unfit" for adoption. There are no specific criteria for this. In 2005, PETA killed around 97% of the dogs it "saved".

fuck off and die PETA, you're stealing the spotlight from organizations that actually do some good in the world. I said it before and I'll say it again, I will eat an animal product every time you try and stop the carnivores of the world, just to keep the market for animal products alive. it's your choice PETA, go ahead and keep doing this, your failure is delicious.

This just reminds me of the lady with the three blind cats. Animal rescue workers took three out of six cats from a lady with serious health issues. They had to tell the lady that cats are mostly carnivorous and absolutely cannot be feed a vegetarian diet as that causes them to lack essential nutrients in their diet. The three cats ended up being blinded by malnutrition. It ended on a better note through. The lady started feeding the cats properly, and the three left with her fully recovered. The other three where adopted out and cats can function fairly well blind.

It's that kind of ignorance and misinformation I always associate with things like this. The lady did not intend to harm the cats at all, and in fact was the one that called for help for the three with health issues. It was just her lack of knowledge and blind idealism that caused problems.

While I have no problem with people being vegetarians and am wholly against animal abuse, I *do* have to point this out.

Feeding kids meat is not child abuse, either. Feeding them excess candy, junk food and fat is. Chicken for dinner isn't going to hurt a kid nearly as much as feeding them PETA BS.

Feeding meat to children is only abuse if the child is either allergic to meat, psychologically incapable of eating meat due to trauma or if meat is the only thing you're feeding him at all.

I consider hormone pumped grade X radiated American meat to be an abuse against the very idea of food. But not specifically child abuse.

It's probably pointless to post now, but what the hell... gets the count up.

My aunt was a very militant vegetarian. Her two sons didn't have a scrap of meat until they were 11 and 9. One is autistic, and one has extremely strong aspergers.

I'm not saying there is any correlation. There are thousands, millions of vegetarian kids that grow up healthy, and sometimes stronger than the steak chompers.

However.

She confided to me, that she regretted not feeding them meat when they were growing, and not eating meat when she was pregnant.

The only time I ever seen PETA protest anything in real life was outside a KFC. I wasn't particularly hungry at the time and probably wouldn't have stopped. But because of the protest I went inside and bought a 12 piece bucket and went home and ate it. It was the best chicken I've ever ate in my life.
