Whoever leads PETA really needs to be mauled by a badger or something.

Then someone would have to take the time to explain irony to them.

Remember kids, if a cow had the chance he'd eat you and everyone you ever loved.

Fun fact, cats need meat. They actually need it to survive, there is a protein in meat that cats need to have or they will die. My friends training to be a vet, she knows. That just proves how nature works, so lets go end a species and chow down!

This is going to sound really weird: that might be the most truthful ad PETA has ever released.
Don't get me wrong, they're still hypocritical imbeciles, but obesity and availability of fast food are strongly correlated (same as obesity and soda, obesity and candies, obesity and sugar coated cereals, etc). If you can claim that allowing a child to become obese is an act of child abuse, which isn't too far fetched to be honest, then consequently you can claim that feeding said child fast food/sodas/sweet stuff/whatever is an act of child abuse. 'course, excluding all other factors with the exception of the one that fits your cause is still tremendously retarded, but not quite as stupid as trying to rename...some aquatic vermin to "sea kittens."

Blargh, PETA gives us vegetarians a bad name. They're about as annoying as the degenerates who claim meat is necessary...
Wow, just wow. I am truly insulted to be called worse than PETA. Meat is an important part of a diet, especially for chldren. Don't go comparing people that eat meat to PETA, because at least the people on the meat side don't pretend to rescue animals and then kill them (oh, they (PETA) aren't eating the things they kill so it's okay).
You know something, calling people that disagree with you "degenerates" isn't going to help your case.
Yes, fast food/candy/soda/all that stuff is unhealthy and too much of any of them can be bad, but there is this thing called moderation that let's you enjoy them without overdoing it. Those things should only be considered abuse when seriously overdone.

Also, being the most true thing PETA has said is like saying that one pile of trash smells better than another.

If you are a vegetarian, fine, be a vegetarian but don't talk down to us lowly meat eaters.

PETA became nothing more than a child wanting attention when I saw a picture of one of the co-founders with his arms around a dog that had a collar on it...The next slide showed a list of quotes from the founders, one summarising how horrible it is for an animal to be a pet >_>

Its funny, because I heard before PETA was launching a war on animal abuse and shit.
Just wondering how they are getting their strength to fight without a hefty protein diet.

I like the "Vegans are better at sex" ad.

Sure, let's assume you're right. But having to listen to a vegan ***** about carnivores makes me limp, so it doesn't really help your claim at all.

but who's to say what's false? By what method is the government to determine the truth or falsity of a statement? Would every bit of false information have to go through something like a court process?

The reason you can't say "Fire!" in a cinema, is because it disrupts people from watching the movie, which is bad for business. The Cinema puts in that rule in order to prevent loss of business. However, this isn't a restriction of freedom of speech, because its the Cinema enforcing this rule, not the government.
Well, claiming feeding a child meat to be "child abuse" (a crime) is blatantly incorrect. It's like saying that farting is drink driving; it's just plain wrong. So, that's how you'd say it's false. It's not expressing opinion, it's supposed fact. Which is not true.
It is not the same. When people talk about what Child Abuse IS, they are talking about what people should consider Child Abuse to be. This billboard is being normative, not descriptive about child abuse.

The TV advert was banned in the states and the UK/Scottish would do well to do the same. I believe in free speech, but you got to have facts to back it up.

PETA are defending the billboard by claiming that they are tackling the city's childhood obesity problem.

I believe that NOT feeding your children meat would be closer to child abuse, and they are clearly hiding behind the obesity problem to 'save' their precious animals.
If you want to fatten up a cow, what do you feed it?

LOTS AND LOTS OF GRAIN

Obesity is not caused by overconsumption of meat. It's caused (predominantly) by overconsumption of bad carbohydrates, like bleached flour and refined sugars.

Granted, eating too much meat (red meat, in particular) can cause other health problems, and you can't haz cheeseburger without a bun, but that's not the point. The point is, PETA is purposefully misconstruing the facts to promote their agenda.

Come on PETA, there's got to be a better way to reduce cruelty to animals besides promoting veganism. How about you encourage people to eat LESS meat and animal products, and when they do, eat less fast food and buy meat and animal products that aren't raised in industrialized farms? That would address their biggest grievances about cruelty against livestock, and result in a much healthier diet for most people.

Oh wait, that would be smart, and would require a reasonable compromise on PETA's part. I hate to use the term 'bleeding-heart liberal hippie douchebags', but I think it's probably the best way to describe PETA's leadership based upon what I've seen from them so far.

And need I remind you that species like sheep, cows, and chickens have been so thoroughly domesticated that there is a good probability that they would go extinct if we didn't raise them for food? I guess that's also a form of animal cruelty, but it's too late to do anything about it now.
