I...this almost looked photoshopped, in its own way. It looks way too human.
The Turians always seemed to have a few facial hallmarks to me: the fact that their mouths are always a bit open, and the way that their mouths go all the way around the side of their head, the head plates, and the dark area around the eyes. (Granted, they did always look like they were wearing masks; it bothered me so much, but eventually I got sort of used to it).
In the front-facing picture, the mouth seems to stop before it gets to the mandibles, giving it a human length. The eyes have too-pale flesh tone around them I just thought all Turians had big black sclera with colored irises. The mouth isn't open at all; you can't see the pointy Turian teeth.
I also can't stand it when the face plates are such a different color from the skin that it really does look like they just strapped bone to their faces. >< I know they paint their faces, but but but but. It looks artistically poor.

Why does all alien females need to be "feminine"?
Where are aliens with less humane features? With reversed gender standards?
You know, where is VARIETY?
Most insects and arachnids have females larger than males.
Most of animals have males as "the pretty" ones.
Yet we still make aliens by human standards.
What next? Elcor females being smaller elcor with more delicate facial features?
P.S. On a side note where are aliens with 3 genders? Aliens whose gender can be set only by scale/fur/skin pigmentation? Aliens with really fucked up reproduction cycle?
Welp, we have the asari, who are monogender and designed to attract any species ever; we have salarians, who have no sex drive at all and make contracts to reproduce because the species would die out otherwise. The hanar looks like jellyfish; the elcor look like mutant elephants. Arguably, the salarians look more like the old legendary Grays than humans proper. Aside from the clothing, we really have no idea if female krogan look much different than male krogan; both genders are huge and strong and have basically the same body shape.
Birds of prey also usually have females as larger and scarier than males, which makes the turians weird because they're based on raptors.
