I noticed something in Mass Effect 1/2, their is no Female Turians, Elcor, Volus, Salarians, Krogans, and Batarians.

Maybe its just becuase I never did a quest with any (or just can't remember). Or maybe they don't have female counterparts much like Asari (though its hard to call them female technicaly since they don't have a male counterpart)

Anyone else just wonder this? I mean I could really care less but it was just so happenly on my mind.

The developers have said that for some species, it may be impossible to tell what gender they were, equating them to real world animals.
I think they were referring to the Krogan in this respect, but I guess it could be the case for a number of species.

In fact trying to picture a female Elcor or Krogan is kind of terrifying.

Though they did give a good reason for Salarians, the females of that species are generally put into positions of power and respect and leadership, not leaving their homeworlds.

Bah, just put a pink bow and eyelashes on them.

Turians and Krogans are probably not sexy enough to warrant female counterparts.

Turians was mostly a time issue. There wasn't any particular reason that we don't see any females (they are equal in their society, especially as far as police and military are concerned), so they probably just didn't want to go through the effort of making a different character model. Probably the same deal with Batarians.

We do at least hear a female Elchor (in the "All Elchor production of Hamlet" commercials), but she doesn't look any different than a regular one.

Female Salarians, as said above, don't really leave the homeworld. Its an excuse to not have them, but a reason all the same.

Female Krogans...eh. I can't really imagine they look much different than guy ones.

Volus? How would you tell? Ditto with Hanar and Vorcha.

We've only seen two Drell (plus another in the comics). Though female Drell have be expressly mentioned, we just haven't seen enough.

Asari are monogendered, and Humans are well represented.

I think a lot of fan-girls would disagree regarding Turians.
They love themselves some Garrus.

We have seen Female Krogan havent we? There was a group of them on the Homeworld, in a special all female clan. Looked the same, except for a slightly lighter voice

Females exist in the lore, haven't seen them in game yet. Krogan female clans were mentioned in game, salarian women are pretty powerful politically so they stay on homeworlds, Garrus had sex with a crewmate from his home fleet (mentioned, not seen), umm, I guess the rest we can't tell, kind've like how we can't tell apart animal sexes apart from some marking or size differences.

Yeah, but she was covered with a blanket on a metal slab and the camera never showed her, plus she was dead and stuff so I don't think I wanted to see her anyway.

Krogan and Salarian Females have been said to of been kept on the home planet, since most of the Salarian race is overwhelmingly Male and the Krogan... well you've seen them! You think they'd give their women rights?

There is no explanation for the rest of the species however.

You never see male Asari either. Some species are genderless or perhaps its just hard to tell their gender. Perhaps it could be some sort of social norm that only male turians are soldiers, etc. etc.

Umm, Krogan women are kept on the homeworld because of the genophage, not because of sexism.

It has been stated many times over that the Asari are monogendered and appear females as to help raise the child.
