FF13 gets sequel

A domain name for Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been registered, it has been revealed.

The web address was issued by a company who previously registered domains for several Square Enix properties, according to UFFSite.net.

It is speculated that an announcement could be made at the firm's Japanese showcase next week.

Last year Square Enix refused to rule out the possibility of a direct sequel to the game.

The first one was a clusterfuck of corridors, corridors more corridors and a story with so little exposition that I had to post on this forum to try and figure out what the fuck was going on. I look forward to the sequel.

I ENJOYED FFXII.

Seriously, the series has had its ups and downs and this installment wasn't nearly as awesome as some of its previous installments, but just because it was bad by comparison doesn't mean it was bad.

This news interests me because X-2 was a joke, so I wonder what they plan to do this time around...hopefully make a game at least as good, or maybe make it just like everything else they've done so people will quit bitching about how bad it sucks now.

Yeeah, some of them do suck *glares at FFXII* but, after looking at FF Versus XIII, I think it might be good. It's an action RPG and the last one of those that they did was Nier. I love Nier so far.

I thought it was being released with FFXIII but it hasn't even been announced. I want that game >.>

Yea, but why not just move on to FF14, which MAYBE a few less people will hate? You know, instead of making a sequel to a game which even several die-hard Final Fantasy fans wanted to burn?

FF14 is out. It's a MuhMorPuhGuh. They've extended the free play time to 'indefinitely' because it's so terrible that noone would pay to play it.

maybe they need another 50 hours of game to get the game to where they are happy with it?? Honestly I didnt mind ff13 at all, and the graphics and engine are great so probably easy to just keep things tied to 13. Think they also have a FF Versus 13 coming out too..

Maybe i'm showing way too much optimism here but i think that a sequel might be a good idea. I mean they already have a good battle system in place (shut up i liked the paradigm system so neahh) and lets be honest it did look fantastic graphically so that's the graphics mostly sorted for the next one too.

They could use the new one to fix what a lot of people hated about the first one. Maybe this time it wont be so linear and we will get back some of the FF stapes like towns and an over world etc....oh and a story that couldn't be summed up in less than a paragraph...preferably involving at some point Hope getting the ever loving snot kicked out of him for being such a spineless whiny ass hat.

Speculative.

The game came with a free month on purchase, and that month was extended to two within a few weeks, followed by three and then "indefinitely".

Might be people out there willing to pay monthly for FFXIV (I wouldn't), but they haven't gotten the chance yet.

Considering the effort they're putting into keeping their customers around long enough for them to be able to redesign the game completely...

I'm going to say that they're doing the opposite of trying to forget it. They're actually trying to learn from and fix their mistakes. Shocking, really, considering how they "learned" from FFXI when they made FFXIV.

I'm excited. Or at least interested. I really liked XIII and wouldn't mind playing some more of it. Let's hope the sequel doesn't suck either.

I thought FFXI was actually a half decent MMO. For an MMO. World was big, interesting locales, warkable mechanics, expansions weren't bad either (only played Zilart and Promathia).
