FF13 gets sequel

I find that FF XIII is good, not great. I haven't completed it yet, so I can't give it a full analysis. What I do know is that the start is complete shit, because none of the characters start out as being likable.

Lightning- she's a complete *****
Sazh- bland and genaric
Snow- arrogant idiot
Hope- seemed likable at the start, but started over reacting to things
Vanille- cookey to the extreme. She seems like a complete idiot, but she says some intelligent things that completely threw me
Fang- She, unfortunately, isn't in the beginning. She is the only character I liked on a first impression, and haven't stopped.

Thankfully though, all the starting characters improve.

Also the use of music in the sad scenes in terrible. The game is basically yelling at you THIS IS A SAD SCENE OKAY! YOU SHOULD BE CRYING! I can't believe that I never saw anybody call FFXIII out on this.

A domain name for Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been registered, it has been revealed.

The web address was issued by a company who previously registered domains for several Square Enix properties, according to UFFSite.net.

It is speculated that an announcement could be made at the firm's Japanese showcase next week.

Last year Square Enix refused to rule out the possibility of a direct sequel to the game.

The first one was a clusterfuck of corridors, corridors more corridors and a story with so little exposition that I had to post on this forum to try and figure out what the fuck was going on. I look forward to the sequel.

Lol I share the sentiment. What a fucking joke Square-Enix has become. A shell of its former self. I commented that maybe TES VI will be a rail RPG, but at this rate Square-Enix will surely beat Bethesda to the punch on that one.

They already did, it's called Dragon Quest Swords and it's actually quite fun. A little too short though.

I was hoping they'd finish Versus XIII so that there might be a chance of Kingdom Hearts 3 coming out in the next few years. *sigh* Oh well, guess we'll have to deal with more of those shoddy spin-offs for a few more years (Re:Coded comes to mind)

Honestly, I got to part everyone said that FXIII would get "good" but I didn't realize "good" meant horribly repetitive and grindy. I gave up after that.

Why is this a shock?? the company made money off the game and its pretty much its biggest franchise. FF will be around pretty much for ever.

Actually, the shock comes from that they LOST money on FF13.

FFXIII was atrocious, but that doesn't mean FFXIII-2 can't be, well, *FABULOUS*!

Change the stupid system of "If the character you're controlling dies it's game over even if your two other party members both have raise dead." and give it something that would be equivalent to FFX-2's Dress Sphere system, and it'll be the Second. Best. Game. Ever.

While I understand your point, the game got great reviews. I loved FFX (and didn't mind XII) so when the reviews started coming in I checked it out. I spent money on it, hated it, and now I'm complaining about it on the internet. Just like the rest of the world.

Considering the effort they're putting into keeping their customers around long enough for them to be able to redesign the game completely...

I'm going to say that they're doing the opposite of trying to forget it. They're actually trying to learn from and fix their mistakes. Shocking, really, considering how they "learned" from FFXI when they made FFXIV.

I thought FFXI was actually a half decent MMO. For an MMO. World was big, interesting locales, warkable mechanics, expansions weren't bad either (only played Zilart and Promathia).

Oh, agreed, but FFXI had a lot of problems that just couldn't be rectified without redoing the whole game from the ground up.

They had the chance to do this with FFXIV, but instead decided to ignore all the lessons learned with FFXI so that they could instead just make entirely new ones.

That's what they do best, like the old FF? You had better keep playing it the next one will be totally different.

Woah, woah, woah there now. I would like to formally apologize to the cosmos for purchasing X-II and breathing life into these hell beasts here. That being said I learned from my damn mistake and won't repeat it here.

Personally didn't feel involved in 13, not gonna buy a sequel. But on the very small bright side, they already have crappy pop songs in the first one, just get that My Hands lady to wail some more and it won't be too hard to get the music for the sequel.
