I thought Dissidia was awesome. I play it a lot with one of my mates who has it. I thought it was probably going to be a "meh" game but it was an amazing game for the PSP, probably one of my favourite handheld games ever and if they made a 2nd one with more characters, i wouldn't complain.

I like Dissidia. I gotta go with Kuja for winning, with Golbez as my next.

Dissidia is great, if I were a PSP afficionado, I'd buy it in seconds. I have a deeply set love for FFVII, and have clocked it numerous times.

I am probably the biggest Dissidia fanboy on this site, I've logged 600+ hours into it and I pretty much live for that game. It never ceases to be fun, and about a week after it came out it was no longer the whole FF gimmick that made me love it but the actual game play. One of the best and most original fighting games hands down, hell it's even pretty well balanced all things taken into consideration compared to some other fighters.

I didn't mind the story and didn't really expect much, although the second half is pretty good. It's a fucking fighting game for fuck sake, I don't care if it is FF, fighting over story dammit. The RPG elements, character customization, and battle system work miracles in breathing some fresh air into the fighting game genre. It's just such an awesome game I love it.

As for my mains...well I have mastered everyone and as a rule when I play fighting games, I try to be proficient with 3 characters. Although in Dissidia I can pretty much rape with half the cast no problem.

I'll just copy and paste what i wrote long ago. My big 3, and if Dissidia had team battle I would be a force to be reckoned with using these guys.

As for favorite character? Oh too many but I will list my "Dark Trinity" I guess. Golbez, Jecht, and EX-Death. If Dissidia had tag team/ party battle (please god make it true with DLC or sequel) this party would be an unholy force as you would have all bases covered.

EX-Death: Fighting a skilled EX-Death is like punching a brick wall, he is the ultimate turtle in all of fighting game history; NOT just in Dissidia. He is slower than the second coming of christ but it doesn't matter as a good player will let the enemy come to him. Plus his reverse polarity counteracts his speed issue which is great because it can guard crush AND it can be used to set up dummie guards and canceling maneuvers.. His guard counters are amazing, and omni block can counter a good 90% of all HP attacks and whatnot. He's all mind games and drawing in opponents to strike at the right time; you really have to caution yourself while fighting him or it's a one way trip to the void for you. I love this evil tree and his extreme defensive game.

Jecht: Here's the complete other end of the spectrum; just like EX-Death was the extreme defensive fighter, Jecht is the extreme offensive. Jecht will hurt you...badly, with his combos that string on for long enough to really dent your brave. He's a simplistic fighter, but once you got an opponent caught in your assault they are fucked as he can string his standard HP attacks into his brave attacks. He has them from the getgo unlike other characters that need to master a skill before unlocking the brave-hp combos. His Jecht block in also an awesome defensive ability which on par with EX-Death's omni block. This allows him some leverage in battle being able to guard stun opponents and then countering with a painful combo, and it's even worse in EX mode with his full combo perk that allows him to string a combo WITHOUT EVEN HITTING his opponent.

Golbez: I gotta save the best for last, Golbez is the by far my favorite fighter and is the most balanced overall character in the game. It's just so hard to top a character like him whos offensive and defensive game both garner deadly effects. The fact that his HP attacks can be used to counter and defend is brilliant and non of his attacks come close to "useless"...there is no such thing as a useless attack for Golbez. His speed is average but his ability to cover great distances and his attack range are beneficial. He can attack from awkward angles which allow him to hit even after being guard-stunned, and his chaining capabilities make him one of the best combo characters in the game. While yeilding only average damage that stacks to do multihit attacks, specific perks like sneak attack make his critical hit rate go through the roof. Add to all that his EX perk "Black Fang", which breaks an opponents brave and he's pretty powerful. Every one of his attacks can chain into any other attack making him extremely versatile, and his invincibility frames from jumping can do wonders in terms of defending and playing mind games on the enemy. Nightglow is a great offensive and defensive ability, and the fact that he can chain any of his attacks into Cosmic Ray makes him incredibly dangerous to get caught in his attack.

Seriously this guy is badass and is just an amazingly well balanced out character to use. I could go on and on about how awesome Golbez is but I think I've made my point.

I like various other characters like my Gabranth and Sephiroth, but those 3 are my unholy Dark Trinity of death. I swear to god if Dissidia had team battle/ Tag team, this would be an awesome and well balanced team with a pure defensive guy (EX-Death), pure Offensive (Jecht), and the middle man (Golbez). I can only dream for now though.

I have built my Gabranth to pretty much never lose. he can stay in EX mode indefinitely which is a scary thought for anyone whose ever whitnessed his power.

Yea...I'm a Dissidia fanboy and I'm damn proud of it.

I main the Onion Knight:

He's fast, has lots of great chaining and is a character you have to grow into and full of endless tactics, gah I love him to death. I tried lots of characters but I never seem to get the same kick I get when playing him.

It also requires a individual tactic against everyone, specially that goddamned broken Cloud that everyone loves to play as. I just nuke him with triple firagas and evasion.

Cloud's not broken, he's just the high risk high reward type character. He hits like a truck but his moves are so easily telegraphed that it's so damn easy to block him. Although it is rather tiresome always seeing Cloud and Squall players over and over. They are the Ryu and ken of Dissidia and I would much rather fight some of the more obscure ones.

I have a friend who can use Ex-death perfectly... It's not fair. Fighting a perfect Ex-death is completely unfair.
Well then I like your friend, good ExDeath players are rare seeing as many people dislike him due to how hard he is to use. I consider myself a talented ExDeath player, and he just dominates everything if used right. You just gotta play the mind games more and look for exploits, even a perfect ExDeath can be taken down if you have good timing. Your friend gets extra props from me if he knows how to dummy block using RP cancel :)

Since we are talking about Dissidia and all, what's everyone's favorite and hated stages?

I love fighting in pretty much every stage except Ultimecias castle, pandemonium, and sometimes kefkas tower. Too clusterfuckey and the camera can get whackey sometimes.

The only way to beat my friend is get lucky and hopes he misses an omni block, he has the timing down perfectly to every attack in the game >.> It's not fair.

But yes, Ultemecia's castle is my least liked stage after it's omega version. I hate that level so damn much. Kefka's tower and pandemonium are also high on my list. But I like the crystal world.

Riddle me this Escapists...

Ok, it's not a riddle but here's something that's been bugging me. Why is it that this love of FFVII and the desire for a remake keeps rolling even in the wake of some extraordinary fan service from Square? (Despite some stinking turds such as FFXIII)

No-one ever seems to be have any love for Dissidia. I mean, come on, you can beat up Tidus. That's gotta be worth playing.

So, my question is. How many people have actually played it, and what did you think of it?
Lol gotta love random hate for ff13 with no reasons at all. Funny thing is you say dissedia is good and ff13 is bad/ your crazy man. i like both.

I believe they should Re-make a FF7 but thats because its an amazing game and people want to have it in real time and in better graphics. but i agree that Dissidia should get some props if you can beat up Tidus. But thats because Tidus sucks, and no i haven't played it, but it doesn't sound like a bad game, just more people have played FF7

Oh, I like Dissidia quite a bit. The sheer amount of content that you get for the price is astounding, and the score is, as always, top notch, with the reworkings of some songs, and the creation of some that are all their own:

I've dumped at least 30 hours into this, total, and I've barely scratched the surface.

I like Dissidia. Though I don't like playing with my friend, who uses Cloud and ends up being a complete cheap bastard. I usually use Squall or Terra.
I have to wonder if they'll ever make a sequel...

I did read that Nomura expressed interest in making a sequel if the first game turned out well. Just imagine this playing on a PS3 with all the HD graphics and all that jazz. I think I'd buy a console if that ever happened.

Dissidia was an amazing game though i have to harshly disagree with you on FFXIII. That game is pretty bloody awesome. No, you don't have to play for thirty hours for it to get fun, that game is fun from the get go.

The reason why people want remakes of FFVII because that's the first a lot of people played since it was the first on the PS1 and likely the first time a lot of people played RPG games. Now if any FF game is not absolutely the same as it is people complain its not as good as VII. Despite the fact that XIII is about nine thousand times more addictive and awesome.

Daamn I gotta get PSP. How come this big FF fanboy can't play crisis core and dissidia? My head explodes.

Fighting game of FF characters just sounds too awesome.

I hate Cloud mainly because, Onion Knight has high punishable attacks if he misses and has an easy time getting broken, so a combo from Cloud usually means break.

I don't know why but I hate playing in Planet's core (maybe because it has weird design), and Ultimecia's Castle. I've learned my way around Pandaemonium but those two always give me trouble.

Favourites are: Lunar Subterrane (big, clear, good design and makes use of the stage),Old Chaos Shrine is fine altough the ceiling makes some annoying camera issues, and World of Darkness alternative version.

Not to be a pedant. But I actually never gave any opinion on Dissidia other than it should be worth playing for the sake of beating up Tidus. I also feel that FFXIII was worth playing if only to find out what it was like. I bought it on release day, found out what I was like I was horrified by how repetitive and uninvolving it was.

FFXIII aside I was more concerned about how Square keep throwing Cloud games at the gaming world but it doesn't seem to be good enough...How about instead of a remake or a prequel we get FFVII-2, like they did with FFX-2? I know Advent Children kind of kept the story rolling so how about more to follow on.

And having started the previous paragraph by saying, FFXIII aside, perhaps I've answered my own question. Perhaps the fans want FFVII remade without touching any element of it because attempts at original thought seem to be deviating from a good format...

Edit: Or failing that, should we not campaign Namco for Soul Calibur V with Cloud on XBOX and Sephiroth on PS3...with DLC to come out a month after release...

I recently got Dissidia and i must say i'm really enjoying it, it's a fun game to play if your wanting to pass the time, or going somewhere in a car or something i even take it to work and play it on my lunch hour although i think they could have done more with a console version. I was also kind of looking forward to giving Tidus a bit of a beatdown (i don't hate Tidus he's just one of the more whiny Final Fantasy Characters) until i found out he's acctually pretty damn awesome to play as. I do love to do Cloud vs Sephiroth battles though, it almost feels like recreating the end battle in Advent Children >.>
