Given that even the FF13 trilogy has gotten a Steam release, does anyone think the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster will get the same?

As this remaster only came to Sony consoles, it doesn't seem terribly likely. Would be cool if it did though

I hope that when it does, they'll remaster the quality of Tidus's laugh and make it compatible with 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound.

Are people ever going to get over this? They're laughing like that on purpose, for heaven's sake.

On topic: Well, it's possible, especially if the XIII trilogy ends up selling well on PC. You could argue that all they've done so far was porting games that either already had a PC version (VII and VIII) or from mobile (III, IV), but the XIII trilogy most assuredly took some more effort than that. So, who knows?

Although I'd agree with MC1980 that XV and/or Type-0 are likelier.

Aaaand I agree with your off-topic comment. He is making an idiot out of himself to cheer up a lady he likes. If acting like a goof makes people dear to you feel better (and/or it results in you getting money), then you not only can, but should do so.
On topic: If it ends up being true and it's a good port, then sure, why the hell not? FFX is a great game and it would be nice if more people played and enjoyed it.

No.

Please no.

Dear God, no.

These games are scraping the bottom of the Final Fantasy barrel, I don't want to see Steam sullied with their presence. Seeing FF XIII on Steam was plenty bad enough.

What was wrong with FFX? It's one of my favorite games in the series. And the combat system in X-2 is fun until you get the ultimate dress spheres (At which point it becomes 'cycle through everything until you activate them, then utterly annihilate everything with ease')

I have no urge to play FFX again, one play through was enough.

But I had an urge to play FFX-2 again. Yes the story is absolutely ridiculous, but the open-ended mission structure (only bested by FFXII) and amazing combat system is one of the best in any turn-based JRPG. I always wanted to best that optional 100 level dungeon.

Yes, their battle system was quite good, but that was never the reason I played Final Fantasy. I played them because I wanted to be told a compelling story driven by likable, relate-able characters.

The problem is, X's story wasn't compelling, and my opinions on the characters ranged from absolutely loathed (Tidus, Rikku, Wakka) to general apathy (Lulu, Kimahri), to "How can anyone be this stupid? Why didn't you Send the pissant the first time?!" (Yuna). Auron was the only decent character, but even he could not carry the game's nonsensical story. The games focused far too much on having pretty pre-rendered cutscenes and graphics, and not enough on the horrid art design, stupid characters, gameplay (although they got lucky with the battle system) and badly-written story.

To me, every since FF VII was released, the only reason Final Fantasy existed was to look pretty. VII was the last decent game in the series, and it has only gone downhill from there. Most of the other games had some redeeming qualities (Lightning repeatedly punching Snow in the face comes to mind), but besides the battle system and graphics, not a whole lot of substance.

Also, X-2 is not a game, it is nothing but fanservice forcefully bored into the brain. Everything I said about X also applies here.

Well, it was ported to the PS4, which is a couple quick proprietary hops away from any PC platform. Knowing Squenix's love of rererereleasing old FF games whenever possible, I'd say it is very possible within a year or two. Reselling old games seems to have become their bread and butter. They probably are waiting for everyone to buy the PS3/4/Vita versions, play them, and forget about them, then release it on Steam, so everyone can buy it a 3rd/4th/5th time. Square will probably hold a press release that implies another FF7 remake and pull the bait and switch again.
