Suzaku Kururugi - I like his naive sense of righteousness, it's something to admire you know? Also Lancelot Albion is fucking awesome.

Sasuke Uchia - He has an interesting power set, and I think he goes through an interesting character progression (he's the super awesome cool to total dick). Also I totally understand why his reasoning for destroying the village (even though it doesn't make logical sense).

To this day, I always enjoyed the character of Claptrap in Borderlands. Imagine my surprise when I learned that internet hates his guts. I seriously thought that his characters was seriously overloooked despite him even getting getting his own DLC. He is like the most friendly thing on that hellhole of a planet.

Rarity is best pony. No doubt about it. She's simply too fabulous to be otherwise. I think Princess Celestia is great too on account of Nicole Oliver as the VA. Just listen to those pipes of hers:
Simply sublime. Better still, Nicole and I share the same birthday (February 22).

I suppose the Spy from Team Fortress 2 would qualify. Enemy players hate him for his one hit kill backstabs, friendly players hate him when there are more than two of them on the team (though that is a valid complaint), and MvM players hate him because they think he's useless (he's not if you run Kunai/Dead Ringer and upgrade your sapper and running speed).

Casual Shinji said:
Well, mine can probably be guessed.

Yep, it's Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Probably the most hated character in anime history. Now, I won't try and argue the general negative opinion people have of Shinji, because they're right - He is a whiny little fuck up. And oddly enough that's exactly why I like him so. He's like a lab rat of the powers that be, and I enjoy watching him squirm and suffer in their maze.
Ditto.

OT: Also, Clap Trap ( I thought he was entertaining) and Moira from Fallout 3 (I found her to be friendly and charming).

I agree with the OP, I don't see why Celestia and Rarity get all the hate.

OT: I'm gonna go with Chris Thorndyke from Sonic X. Yes, he can be irritating at times, but otherwise, I had no problem with the kid. And they did at least give him something to do in the third season, so there's that.

Oh and Mu-12. She gets a lot of hate because her outfit is... Unique shall we say?

"Battle" Mode

Now I am working on a theory as to why the hell ArcSys made her outfit so weird, probably a satire of other female anime tropes where women wear less the more powerful they are so they took that to the logical extreme. BlazBlue is both a satire and celebrate of all the typical anime tropes after all.

Or y'know, ArcSys was fucking around when they sat down to design her. That's equally if not more likely

Regardless she's my bestest and most favourite character in the game because lol zoning. I play full guns Mu online and it must piss so many people off. No touching the Mu-12 please, I insist. I'm getting better at holding all Ragnas at arms length. It's so satisfying when he just dies to guns while barely scratching you.

[sub][sub]Inferno Divider not working so well for you now is it *****?![/sub][/sub]

Hey the outfit even grows on you after a while.
To add to that, I like the Japanese voice of Noel Vermillion a lot. I know people generally either hate or love noel with a passion but a lot of them don't seem to like the Japanese voice. I find Koudou-san to be perfectly fine: gets the job done and adds to her "trying hard but messing up" personality

P.S. Mu is actually a mid tier character if i recall, her guns are annoying and do damage but you must be careful with positioning in order to trap them and you have to take into account how the laser will bounce with tosuka blade or the distortion version. In addition, approaching by air will enable blocking to be easier. Personally, i'm interested to see how kagura mutsuki plays out, the stance style is interesting to say the least
I really stay out of touch of official tier lists when it comes to fighting games, with the exception of UMVC3 because the top tiers are so goddamn obvious and godlike it's hard to not immediately notice them. I mean apparently Elisabeth is absolute Garbage Tier in Persona 4 Arena and is by far the worst character in the game. I still find her a damn pain regardless.
Elizabeth is garbage tier because all of her combos are dependent on the persona and her potential is limited even with it. She can damage you with one hits but they will get back up and smack you all over the place
In BB, all I know is I cannot deal with either Tager or Arakune ever. Ragna is an annoying **** with Jin not too far behind but I can deal with them generally. However, if I get Astral'd by Hakumen one more fucking time I will flip my shit so hard...
Arakune is really bad unless he curses you after which he can just pound you over and over with bugs. Tager is grab based; stay out of reach and use long range pokes and he goes down. Ragna is a basic type, good reach and combo potential but he's been nerfed to mid tier in Chronophantasma. Jin is still top tier as he has a lot of moves with invincibility frames and can deal range; the ice can help extend combos so be careful.

Funny thing about Hakumen, pro players rarely use the drive and the astral even less as everyone knows that Hakumen can do it and so proceeds with caution. He has a lot of reach but is a bit slow so take advantage of that.
My pro Mu strat is spam Arrows of Heaven as well as placing guns. Then concentrate ALL efforts on your spacing, I can do the standard Mu combos nearish the corner but they can and will pop up and be right in your face afterwards and that extra damage is not worth ruining your spacing. You have three pushback moves, forward heavy, Sword of Decimation and Origins as a final line of defense. Literally standing heavy into forward heavy gives you room for just more guns. And like everything she has can be safely cancelled (on block) into, you guessed it, more guns.

Oh and her command overhead cancels right into super. Lololololololol

Also you cannot stop Divine Light of Punishment from bouncing and homing in once it comes out so I just use it to make my re-position dashes safer

I am a right arsehole online I admit :3
That works but the stein gunners are meant to trap not zone. Nu is actually better at zoning. Any pro player will probably tell you that spaming arrows of heaven and focusing on guns is not that good; you have to get a good combo down while deploying the gunners and trap their movements.

As a counterpoint to your Japanese Noel:

"OPTIC BARRELUUUUU!"

...

[sub][sub]My ears...[/sub][/sub]

[sub][sub][sub][sub]Why?! T_T[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
Japanese speakers always have an issue of pronouncing english due to the differences in language. nothing new so how is it bad?

Probably Carth Onasi from the KotOR games. People say he was a whiny little *****, but I just think he was more unwilling to just divulge his extremely PAINFUL past to any stranger that asks him (people seem to forget that the player and Carth meet for the FIRST TIME just before getting to Taris, and that's usually when people start exploring their dialogue options with their companions). I mean, think about it: the dude had the one guy he looked up to most TURN on him, try to convince him to join the Sith, and then BOMB HIS ENTIRE PLANET AND KILL HIS FAMILY. That's gotta hurt...
I think people just viewed his skirting-around-the-issue and "I-don't-wanna-talk-about-it" attitude as being untrusting and bitchy.

Carth isn't my favorite character, far from it in fact, but I don't think he deserves the hate he gets.

There's a couple of characters from Game of Thrones, there Tywin Lannister, I just think he is cool, he's an excellent tactician, he's charming and he has his moments as well, also being played by Charles Dance helps a lot. Roose Bolton, for the same reasons as Tywin, I hate in the books, but in the show, he's just charming in a way that I can't hate him, especially after S3 Ep9. Finally there's Ramsay Snow, Roose's bastard, in the show, I find him to be a lovable, sadistic psychopath, maybe this is because Jim Sterling said that Ramsay reminded him of Willem Dafoe, I can just imagine it him coming out and saying:

"HEY THEON, WANNA GET YOUR DICK CUT OFF!"

Oh Celestia is totally evil. I think that it's hard to have a mentor that doesn't get involved directly themselves who doesn't come across as being a little evil. This is because there's obviously some danger and rather than handling that as they should (being someone obviously qualified to do so) they sent their inexperienced initiate. In fairness though it's not just Celestia, it's also Dumbledore. Willy Wonka was most definitely evil too but that's because he maimed children.

As for personally, when myself and my housemates were watching BSG, I got a lot of crap for liking Gaius Baltar. I also liked Claptrap, and Ben from the Walking Dead game.

Perrin Aybara, from the Wheel of Time (don't worry, I won't give any major spoilers in my reasoning). A lot of people hate him because they think he is overly devoted to Faile, and for some of the decisions he makes because of it, and to an extent, I can agree. However, looking at his character arc as a whole, across the entire series (which I know can be difficult, considering how long the series is), I think he redeems himself.

I was drawn to him from the very start of the series, because I liked that he wasn't a dumb, violent brute, despite his impressive strength. Some characters around him think that he's slow witted, but he's actually just methodical and thoughtful, preferring not to rush things.

Another vote for Moira over here. Her personality perfectly encapsulated the kookiness of the original Fallout games which was sadly lacking from Bethesda's otherwise excellent addition to the series.

Staying with Fallout, I've always liked Caesar. Don't get me wrong, the Legion are a definite stain on the Mojave, but Caesar's story of a Follower of the Apocalypse who was captured by tribals and basically Stockholm Syndromed into becoming what he was lent his character a certain quality, almost akin to pity. It doesn't stop my character(s) and Boone turning his camp into a cemetery each and every playthrough, but it's impossible to think of him as inherently evil.

Well, I used to be a fan of Snips from MLP:FiM, at least during season one. I was convinced that there was something more to him, that he was smarter than he let on. Then season 2 came around and I realized, nope, he's just an idiot. I stuck up for you Snips, I stuck up for you and you let me down.

There was also Mime from Happy Tree Friends. Now I don't know if many people actively disliked him, but a lot of people passed him off as being without personality and predictable. But he was a silent character in a world where everyone else communicates with muffled noises, so he had to pantomime everything, meaning he was actually one of the most expressive of the cast. He also had superpowers that no one seemed to notice, being able to actually use the invisible objects he created. And you have to admire his dedication to his proffession, letting the town burn down and refusing to talk to the fire department and refusing to audibly scream even when burning from the inside out.

How could you stay angry at that face?

Hope from FF13.

Yea, I said it. Throw a kid in a situation like that and he is going to whig the F out. What is interesting is how his personality changes throughout the game.

Noel from FF13-2. Actually he is one of my favorite FF chars of all time. If Squall went through what Noel did, he would create an emo singularity that would destroy existence.

Tiny Tina.

I can see why others dislike her but I don't mind her. I absolutely loath Handsome "I'm going to do every single thing I can to not utter one swear word" Jack though.
It's possible to hate Tiny Tina? She's amazing.
Handsome Jack has some good lines, I don't mind him too much.

I guess also Moira (Fallout 3), I didn't know she was commonly hated. Sure she asked you to do some pretty dangerous stuff without really seeming to understand the danger and her voice was kind of annoying, but I thought she was kind of cute. She was quirky and there were times when her voice wasn't too bad.

Other than that.
Just about every abrasive female character in anime. I don't know, maybe it says something bad about me, but I like it. As long as they aren't trying to act too cool, or aren't being malicious.

While it's on my mind, I'll say that I like Liara from the Mass Effect franchise.

I wasn't broken up on how you couldn't have her join you in the 2nd game, even before Lair of The Shadow Broker was released, I understood why.

It didn't bother me how she seems to get alot of spotlight compared to other squadmates, I even romanced her in my playthroughs.

I thought she was cute, intelligent, and she knows how to put up a fight, so in ways she was close to my type (closer than Ashley Williams was anyway, though I don't hate her either).

James Vega from Me3. I feel like people judged him by his looks and not his character. I think he one the best human squadmates in the series.

Ashley and Kaidan in the Mass Effect series. I've never really understood the amount of hatred both characters get. Kaidan was kind of boring in the first game, but I didn't hate him. And come Mass Effect 3, he became one of my favorite characters.

Ashley was one of the best written characters in the first game. I honestly thought her romance was the most interesting too(and it felt much more meaningful than Liara's as well). Granted, in ME3 they really didn't seem to do much with her. She was just kind of... there.

I may add more later if I can think of any.

I honestly didn't mind James either. Although there was a lot of potential for his character that just went to waste. You don't get a chance to really get to know him like everyone else.
