Boyd Cooper. (I am the milkman, my milk is delicious).

Also Batman. (What's that you say, not crazy? Go ask a psychologist to analyze his motives and some of his more dubious choices then get back to me.)

Who are some of your favorite psychopaths in fiction? Be it in movie, game, or literature.

In case you were wondering, I am doing a research paper on the subject and am looking for examples. The more recognizable and popular the better, so feel free to say things that have already been said. The ones that I have so far are as follows:

Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs, etc)
Sylar (Heroes)
The Master (Doctor Who)
Voldemort (Harry Potter)
The Joker (Batman)
Dexter Morgan (Dexter)
Albert Wesker (Resident Evil)

So tell me... who are some of your favorites?

Capcha: goody two shoes. Uhm... not quite what I was looking for...
Psychopathy is attributed by a lack of empathy, Hannibal Lecter is the one on this list and maybe The Joker to be a Psychopath in it's full meaning, the rest do feel empathy at some point.

Corporal Payton/Bower from the film Pandorum.

Wikipedia the film for more details. He is definitely a psychopath and probably a sadist to boot.

the only one i can think of at the moment is Alex Mercer from Prototype
I'd have presented a challenge to the idea if not for the Web of Intrigue video that points toward it specifically.

Caim from Drakengard

Caim's hobbies include: Murder, fighting, Murder, scowling, kicking priests in the face, Murder, the mass slaughter child soldiers, Murder, recruiting cannibals and pedophiles as party members, Murder and...Did i mention murder? Seriously this guy REALLY likes that.

..Which may go a long way to explaining why Square Enix has gone out of it's way to deny his (And the game he comes from) existence in the same way Lucasarts deny the existence of the Star Wars Holiday Special.

I'm rather partial to The Judge in Blood Meridian. He can be read so many ways; from one perspective the dude thinks he's Satan. From another he is Satan. He has a philosophy that says only what he knows about has his permission to exist, but on the other hand he has another philosophy on how humans can't know everything. It's quite likely he's a murdering pedophile. He contradicts himself back and forth, left and right, but manages to use that to flesh out his own personality and throughout it all remain a rather bloodthirsty, intellectual, downright evil character.

Definitely took my place for top-psychopath after I read through the book.

The sad part about that movie was that neither of the two survivors would have lived long after getting off that ship especially the girl.

Dexter has kind of turned more into a sociopath. He has connected to people and fallen in love with his son. He follows a code given to him by his adoptive father.

he also didn't kill his sister even after he met his brother

A psychopath wouldn't give a shit over such trivial matters like that. No matter what someone tells them.

I would say The Joker. He's just the perfect mix of insanity, psychopathy, and intelligence that just makes me smile.

Iago. It is always Iago. Why does he ruin Othello? Just because.

Not many other characters that I find fascinating are psychopaths.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, maybe Dr Amanda Waller is a psychpath... Psychopaths do tend to be very successful in business and bureaucracy.

Okay from Comic books i could say Lono from 100 bullets was a Psychopath. Miracleman to a lesser degree, Norman Osborn, AOA nightcrawler, Professor x, Punisher(MAX version is even worse than regular).

Ninja'd so bad by the OP. Everyone usually forgets John Simm until reminded!
(Although these are all more sociopaths...)

Mad Pierrot from Cowboy Bebop.

He's so gleefully insane and there's absolutely no reason or thought behind anything he does.

Ladd Russo is defiantly one of the more entertaining ones

Their is also Zagi from Tales of Vesperia, Dileudau from Escaflowne(mostly due to his over the top English VA), and the core cast of It's always Sunny in Phildephia.

Since people are going on about distinction between psychopath and sociopath,Here are some great sociopath: Izayia Orihara from Durarara!!, Johan Libert from Monster, Griffth from Bereserk(though I'm only on volume 14 so if this changes some how ignore this one).

Kratos from GoW

The Boss from Saints Row

Serial Killer X from Condemned - how often do you see an antagonist that visibly cuts off one of your fingers?
