I actually never met someone who thought Shinji redeemed himself in the end. As I'm a firm believer of the idea that EoE depicts the events as they are happening during the final two episodes of the series and thus the dreaded choking scene is the last we know of him I'm not too positive on that boy... Ah well, Eva's ancient discussions will be going on for at least a decade yet.Onmi said:As for the Shinji Ikari effect, thats allways Rectified by the Super Robot Wars effect, also known as the Kamina effect.
Generally what happens when you introduce said whiny character to one (Or more)hotblooded Badass characters who proceed to turn said wimp into a MAN OF DESTINY (tm)
I still claim the Adam and Eve theory though (which as far as I know was originally mine and take no small pride in seeing referenced around the net *snf). In short, God (or whoever the force behind the Angels was, an unresolved and oft forgotten point) manipulated Gendo through Seele all along to eliminate all life from the planet and reset the world back to a single couple of humans again. This was third impact's original intention and what Shinji realized was the only proper way out for our wasted world and its wretched people. So, actually, he didn't stop third impact at all, he embraced it.
Other than that
1. I agree on your reasoning then
2. Locke, that was his name!
3. prolly Sabin
edit:
Oh new post.
The heroes of FF5 walked straight into the void, having always assumed it brought instant death to all who entered. The event is weirdly marginalized during the game, but you've been using 'exile to the void' as an instant death spell up until that point and now you're voluntarily walking into it. Uhm, whadda?
