VERSUS! PLEASE JUST FINISH VERSUS FIRST PLEEEEEAAAASSSE!

Other than that I have no issue with them continuing with XIII-3. Simply re-using establish assets and adding a few new ones with the same cast makes sense in terms of their business model which has been shaken up. I believe the boss of Square Yoichi Wada was pushing for the Final Fantasy teams to produce at least one FF game every year to keep the franchise moving a la CoD, Halo etc. It's an easy way for them to keep up and besides if they keep working at it they might make something really great or perhaps I'm being wildly optimistic.

The sad thing is, I'd probably end up playing it anyway... we don't get enough big budget JRPGS these days. >_> Dammit, Square. Make good games already, I know you can do it.

Your reason for you to "make" yourself to play FFXIII-3, is very wrong...
You don't need to get a big budget game to enjoy an JRPG.
Not necesarily, of course. However, the distinct lack of 'big budget' titles bothers me. It's a sign of how much less this genre has become in today's gaming landscape, and i think it's a real shame. I'd like to see the kind of great games we used to get. Therefore, i take what i can get.

Glad to see Fabula Nova Chrysalis is still going ahead as planned.
No matter how stupid or desperate it looks.

Please no! As a protagonist, Lightning was pretty cool.
To this day, I do not understand what people see in Lightning.

She was marginally more complex than Ashe from FF12, and Ashe was nothing more than a woman who went around acting like she had a large stick up her ass. Maybe I didn't get to the part of the game where Lightning stops acting like a passive-aggressive *****, but she bored me.

The only thing I remember about her that was marginally human was her telling Hope to man up, and giving him a weapon.

I should probably post this from a artist I found:

In my opinion the recent SquareEnix games is suit better AAA Titles Chart.
SquareEnix use just so much money to advertise his games that it forget to put a actually "AAA" budget for its game.....

So, seriously. Do we really want THIS?

Noooo....what we (and by we, i of-course mean myself) want is for Square to JUST. FINISH. THIS. ALREADY:

Anyone remember this game? ....No...just me huh? *sigh*

I'm starting to wander if some game companies have a phobia to finishing and releasing (Or in some cases even creating) games that would literally sell like hot-cakes.

I hated X-2 and 12 but I finished them. I was unable to finish 13 because I did not enjoy the story or the characters, mainly Snow or Douche McDouche and Hope, so I did not buy 13-2. Why can other FF fans who dislike the last few FF games as much as me just not buy them rather than constently ***** about it.

And while we are at it stop complaining about an FF 7 remake. I love it but would rather have a FF 9 remake. Much better game.

See, I didn't like XIII at all, therefore, I never bought XIII-2. The saddest thing in that IGN article is that they are now no longer sure when the FFX HD version is coming out. Hurry it up already! Those graphics were amazing for a game that was practically a launch title, so I've gotta see it in HD!

Other than that, Final Fantasy is pretty much dead to me. XI was too boring, XII didn't interest me, and XIII was so terrible that I have a hard time believing there are people out there who actually like it. Seriously, I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if you love a game, you should love it regardless of what anyone says. But when someone tells me that they loved XIII, my knee-jerk response is "really?" No offense to anyone that does, but I just don't get it.

I'd rather they didn't remake any of those- IX is still amazing. :) If they could make NEW games that lived up to them, I'd be happy.

I agree. 9 is stil epic and ina perfect world SE would be making good, new FFs. But to me it seems any talent they had for gameplay and story left the second SquareSoft and Enix merged as I cannot honestly think of a game that SE has made that I enjoyed.

Hey, I remember that game!

Seriously, though, you're right. Would another XIII sequel really help their company right now, when they could release this game and (presumably) make a bajillion dollars?

I'm in the same boat as you. I liked 13, hated 13-2. Why would they do this to us? Just get back to the basics and bring FFX gameplay style back.
Amen, FFX was the last FF game where I enjoyed the combat. FFX-2 was crap, FFXII was crap, XXIII demo was crap, XIII-2 demo was alright.

So let's just get back to the CTB system that actually made the combat fun. Sure it's turn-based, but seeing the running order added some real strategy to it. Besides, it gave me time to think about how I wanted to attack instead of pressing buttons as fast as I can. If I wanna do that, I'll play God of War.

(I know it has a paradigm system, but I don't wanna watch people fight either. I'll just go to the movies.)

Lol, did you just say Hallway Simulator 13's combat was excellent?

13 was the dullest experience of my life, predicable story (who the flying fuck didn't see the Oerba thing coming?) Lame characters (Exceptions being Lightning and Sazh) and a godawful battle system (slow as fuck and required little effort, auto battle chose the best possible combination of moves for each paradigm, choosing abilities was beyond pointless unless you were a medic) Battles dragged on WAY too fucking long and the main narrative wasn't interesting. The music, mythology, world and graphics were amazing however. The whole game left a bad after taste and I believed the sequel couldn't save it...
This arguement always gets to me. Sure, you can pick auto-battle and it picks the best moves. But why are you picking auto-battle? Is it because you want to let the computer pick your moves for you? No!
Or maybe it was because they made picking moves awkward by instead of having 3 columns for abilities like basically every single other Final Fantasy game they used 2. When your spells tier in 3 levels but you have 2 columns there is something wrong there.

What made me hate it was the ultimate weapons. FFX added mini-games, and in FFXII you have to travel to different parts of the world to get the items to create the ultimate weapons -- and which everyone could use. But in XIII, you have to grind. That's all. Just grind, grind, grind for money so you can buy boosters to level up your sword. This is lazy by all standards that the Series was known for.

I hated the Characters. I hated the storyline, and if you're older than 13, you probably didn't even finish playing the FInal Fantasy XIII-2 DEMO before laughing at how stupid it all looked -- and who the hell is Chocolina!
The direction this series has taken seems to be appealing to a mass audience; and apparently, that audience is 14 year old naruto fans. It's as if they just can't understand that that audience who loved FFVII and VIII might have grown up, and that the western world in general, wants something more real and substantive with their stories.

No, not until they stamp five or six other god-awful teens and twenty somethings that complain about their own issues while the world is at their finger tips.

I've given up hope for Final Fantasy. Anybody, at least from the western world, can see where it has to go; but like a 17 year old rejected by his high-school crush, he just can't seem to get how many more unbelievably gorgeous women await him in college.

Yes I'll give you that one but the one thing I did like was the ability to choose the weapon that suited your needs. Just the combat ui was a particular peeve of mine.

Yes I'll give you that one but the one thing I did like was the ability to choose the weapon that suited your needs. Just the combat ui was a particular peeve of mine.

All the characters could use the same ability with weapons that were essentially on parody with their peers; but Final Fantasy XII let any character use any weapon. It's as if letting Lightning use Vanille's whip, or Oerba Yun Fang using Sazh's guns.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 DEMO let you use you're Pokemon-oh, I mean Monster partner; and it looked pretty deep, but that didn't make up for the shallow dialogue and confusing plots, and I ended up making a healer Pokemon so that I could attack and at least feel engaged.

All I did for the opening boss scene was change paradigms once or twice and press X maybe two dozen times. That's your big DEMO Square Enix? That's what's supposed to draw me in and immerse me in combat! Pressing 'X' every freaking 10 seconds!
The Quick Time did not feel right, either.
