Nothing impresses me more than Square's adamant refusal to bring a Final Fantasy game to PC that anyone actually wants to play.
I know PC has VII but it's a horrible version of it IMO.

It also sucks this version still doesn't include Japanese voice options.

... ... ... I can only assume you go all over the internet and post that statement to draw heat, because if you'd read this thread (and others with this info) you'd find none of that here.

Unfortunately, clopping has a different meaning in the vernacular of the modern internet.

I haven't seen much "whining" in this thread... people expressing harsh opinions, maybe, but nobody appears to be saying it shouldn't come to PC.

Also, I'd appreciate if you don't try starting a PC vs. Console flame war in my thread, thanks. :D

I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, I like the PC getting more support and it's especially nice to see a Japanese company willing to support it some more. On the other hand, this is probably the single worst RPG I've ever played that wasn't literally unplayable (as in wouldn't run). I think I'll let the fact that I won't be buying it win out and let me see a PC port as an overall good thing. I'll also refrain from telling anyone interested in it not to buy it for a while so that it might do reasonably well amongst those who can't do their homework and encourage more PC support from Square.

I wasn't aware having a rational, considered opinion amounted to immature vitriol. I was under the impression that hating a game wasn't inherently childish, though accusing those who disagree with you of being immature simply because they disagree almost certainly is.

This is a good thing but it could easily have a bad ending. On the one hand more Final Fantasy on PC is good. It makes me have hope that XV will come to PC. I have been burned too many times to get a FF game purly on name alone but I really want to like a new FF game again and as PC wil be the only way I can game for at least the next 2 years I want XV on PC.

Unfortunatly FF XIII is shit (I know, I know opinions are different) and SE seems to be run predominantly by mentaly retarded chimps. I can't help but think that if XIII does not sell well on PC that SE will deside that it is because there is no market for them on PC instead of the fact that alot of people did not like XIII and have spent years saying why and thus will not release other FF games on PC.

Well...

On one hand I'm not going to complain.
I mean more Final fantasy (that arent DS ports) for the PC is always great.
Considering Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider, I think the port will actually be good and have high hopes (dem puns) for better texture quality and less loading times.

ON THE OTHER HAND...

FF-XIII is... yea... a piece of junk
It's story is so backwards its not even japan funny :l
Not to mention the absolute lack of exploration and LEVELING RESTRICTIONS ON AN RPG.

But hey, cant complain since we'll get FFXIII-2 and 3 eventually and those are a lot better.

Yeah, I'll admit that my faith in Square Enix is pretty low on that account, especially considering how they kept insisting that Tomb Raider wasn't a success because it didn't make as much as they wanted it to make in the first half-year or so, but I really hope they don't pull that same kind stuff. They haven't been too bad to PC gamers over the past few years, so I'm willing to give them far more benefit of the doubt than I would a publisher like Ubisoft.

I would think that XIII is getting a PC release because they've been having reasonable success with sales for VII and the like. I have no knowledge of the sales figures, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it would make sense.

I was really hoping they would finish releasing the good Final Fantasy games before they released that crap, I'm still waiting for IX, VI, XII and Tactics, they should hurry up on those instead of this.
Good is subjective to opinion. Storyline aside, I rather liked Final Fantasy XIII. The stagger mechanic (or whatever it was called) was pretty awesome in my opinion, reminded me of Persona 3's 'down, group attack' type battling.

If you'd asked me this a year ago, I would have gone "Man, that sounds interesting". But earlier this year I dumped about 20 hours into watch let's plays of XIII and XIII-2 and now I feel "meh"

If I step back, and think about the world and the concept and the story behind those two games, I keep thinking how interesting it seems, in a wierd, distorted sort of way. And yet it's so....boring to actually watch unfold. It's like there's a wonderfully interesting idea trapped under a mountain of garbage and occasionally you catch a glimpse of it trying to escape. That's the best explanation for those two games(I didn't bother with even watching "Lightning Returns" because at that point I just kind of stopped caring what was going to happen. Though I imagine it's something alone the lines of "Heros try to stop really bad thing from happening and end up causing said really bad thing by their efforts to prevent it", because that's more or less the main twist at the end of the first two).

Wake me when V and VI are rereleased.

I'll just leave here exactly what I wrote on Destructoid for this matter:

Give me FF VI and IX, and I'll throw you my money Squeenix.

As long as I find out it's a half-decent port, I'll pick this up. Even if it's horrible, it'll likely be such a huge spectacle that I'll still be entertained.

Some other thoughts:
- In terms of big budget JRPGs, Final Fantasy was always the 1000 lb gorilla so Square Enix putting their most recent ones onto PC was always going to have to come before any others did. Note: I don't consider Dark Souls to be part of the JRPG genre.
- Of course, there's some obvious synergy with the Dive In service that Square Enix is trying to launch where FFXIII will be one of the launch titles. As I don't see Sony or Microsoft allowing a server to emulate XBox360/PS3 for streaming, it would seem to be more practical to develop a PC version for this purpose, especially as early versions of FFXIII ran on PCs.
- Is this the first time that a game is the number one selling game on Steam yet doesn't have a front page banner or be one of the featured deals?

Eh, personally, I see the massive variety in gameplay styles that "typical" JRPGs use and that's enough for me to consider Dark Souls as one as well. If Xenoblade Chronicles and Pandora's Tower are JRPGs...

Nah. Big-name titles often fly up to the top of Top Seller list even while they're just being pre-ordered; Borderlands and Civ: Beyond Earth were both at the top for almost a full week a little while ago.

Not trying to make you look bad or anything, just thought you knew something that wasn't on the steam page.

On 13....to put it mildly it had a lot of downs, a few ups but god so many downs. I might give it another go if there was Japanese voices just for the pleasure of saying "I got to play FF13 without listening to Vanille's god awful English voice!".

Just in case you're looking to finish it for the story, no it doesn't get any better. Less annoying since Hope kinda fades into the background in the later stages of the game but overall it stays the same uninteresting mess you most likely remember it to be.
