Fire Emblem, I want more!

So my game of choice the past few weeks has been Fire Emblem (GBA) and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (GBA). Needless to say, I love this style of game. Simple turn-based strategy with a simple level-up system. I've tried FF: Tactics and even Ogre Battle and with those types of games everything seems very convoluted and they have annoying characters in them.

To get to the point, I'd really like some more Fire Emblem, or Fire Emblem-esque style games. I'm from Aus (So PAL only), I own a PS2/PS3/Gamecube and I'm not against emulators (For PSX/SNES/NES/GB/GBA). Oh, and I've already got Advance Wars.

I agree with you, although hard, the Fire Emblem games were great fun. We need more of them.

The fire emblem games are amazing, but Shadow Dragon makes me think their going to remake some of the old ones.

Shadow Dragon is good though, I like how you can play without ever having to touch the touchscreen if you so choose.

Did anyone play the one that was released on the Gamecube or the Wii? A quick ebay search made me realise that the one on the Gamecube is roughly $100AUD in mint condition. Crikey!

I never got a chance to. I didn't know it was worth that much, as I saw it a few months ago for $20. Should have bought it.

Yeah... I played those two to death. They were, and still are, on my "Best games of all time" list. I wish they'd have made a new DS game, instead of re-releasing Shadow Dragon. I mean, it's okay, but you never really get much backstory on the support characters, which is what I loved about the games.

The one for the gamecube is kinda meh, but I like the one for the wii. They both use the same characters, and the wii one is a continuation of the gamecube one, but I just can't seem to like it as much.

heh, story of my life. I once spotted Shining Force 3 brand new for $10 in a gamestore bin. Little did I realize it'd jump to 100 on ebay like a year later *facepalm*.

Path of Radiance is a great Fire Emblem for the Game cube.

Shadow Dragon for the DS was OK.
it wasn't amazing and it is kinda forgettable but its good for a Fire Emblem Fix.

Yggdra Union is a Fire Emblem style game for the GBA that is really good, it at times feels a little too much like Fire Emblem but does things in its own way and has a lot of cool Units.

And if you don't have Advanced Wars:Days of Ruin GET IT NOW.

its a great game with, good story, fun characters, interesting units, and difficulty.

Unlucky you. I've been fairly lucky with this type of thing though. I got Skies of Arcadia for $10.

The Sacred Stones certainly lacked the length and difficulty of other games, but were still loads of fun, there's no doubt about that. And Shadow Dragon on the DS was just...sorta meh. I understand wanting to preserve the old game, and how it was, but there were lots of limitations on games back then, and it certainly could've used some improvement.

The graphics were lovely, but the characters felt boring, and not very distinct. Other Fire Emblems excelled here, even adding the Support Conversation system, which not only let you get more insight into your favorite characters, but added a bit of strategic edge, and a reason to have units you saw bond fight alongside each other. In Shadow Dragon, I felt no desire to replay it, and use different characters, as they all felt the same to me. It's the only Fire Emblem game that I've ever played, and beat, that I didn't want to play again. If you're considering it, I recommend against it unless you get it cheap, it'll leave a fan of the newer installments wanting more out of it.

I've played all of them. They rule (which is why we are posting here) and I've gotten plenty of milage off of them due to family trips!

On Topic: The two on the Gamecube/Wii are both EXCELLENT Fire Emblem games, with a well-crafted storyline, intresting game mechanics, deep characters, and all the other awesome that we have come to expect from Fire Emblem. If you need to nip your Fire Emblem bud, get yourself those two. Beyond that, have you considered replaying 'Fire Emblem' for the GBA on Hard Difficulty though all three storylines?

On Edit: Shadow Dragon was defently the most 'Meh' of the series. Rather... bland, left me yerning to find my old SD to boot up Fire Emblem (For the GBA) and to get some of that real-tatical badassery that captured my heart from when I first layed eyes on it when a friend was playing it during lunch.

Heh, kind of unrelated but you know what I saw brand new in a Wal-Mart about two years ago? A brand new snes controller, three of them to be exact (I did buy one this time.) crazy huh.

I've played all that came out in the US except for Shadow Dragon. It just didn't look appealing to me. I loved 7 and Sacred Stones, and Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn were both great as well. I have to say that I liked Path of Radiance the best. It had high-def character portraits, great character supports and extra conversations, great unit types (I still can't get over the fact that Nephenee is a spear-using unit. Fucking awesome), and the first in the series to be about a mercenary rather than a member of nobility.

I loved path of radience, and I just recently started playing Radiant Dawn.

Buy em, they are worth the price. Avoid emulating if you can, that's cheating...

I did. Still own both of them. Was disappointed that the support system was shot compared to the GBA games, but still loved them.

My only complaint about the GBA Fire Emblem game is that they still haven't re-released the sequel so I can actually PLAY it. Come on, Nintendo! PLEASE!!!!!

I played both of the gba games and path of raidiance and loved them but i haven't played radiant dawn because i hate the wii...

I own the shdow dragon but i cant get into it because the its units and gameplay just did not sell me on it... it just feels like crap compared to the ones i played before it feels like a huge downgrade from the others and not intuitive. i got through three or five missions before i set it down and never touched it again.

Advanced wars is awesome loved them all except duel strike for its over powered well duel strike capabilities... World of ruin is my fav thus far though i kinda missed the more... uh happier setting...

i love final fantasy tactics but the newest one could really have used some work on its story compared to the previous ones and made the main character a little less annoying i liked marche but luso well... the laws need to go period.
