I still love Wolf 3D and Doom and the old school shooters. Wolfenstein 3D is blocky and primitive, but I still really love it when I want to blow off some steam. Same with Doom.
Same here. I've got a stack of newer titles like MW2 and Metro:2033 and (most recently) Reach, but I still fire up the old classics every now and again. They recently released Doom2 on XBLA, which comes with a brand new episode exclusive to XBLA - I'm currently trying to work my way through that one, but it's not easy. Which is to say it's bloody hard.
Yeah, I got the Doom 2 for XBLA. The new episode was really the only reason. It was a nice challenge. You'll probably hate the last level though. Want to be in a one lane wide maze filled with a horde of imps? No? Too bad. Want a cyberdemon to be on your ass in said one lane wide maze? No? Too bad. That had to be the first time the cyberdemon scared me since I was a wee little kid, my armours been burned off, I've got 10% health I turn a corner and hear this massive roar than hold down the sprint and BARELY avoid a rocket as I hear that metallic stomping following me.

Duck Hunt for the win! I mean, using a real fake gun to shoot ducks on a screen? using your very own first person view? kickass! And if Duck hunt really doesn't qualify as an fps, then Goldeneye, when I was about six (7 or 8 maybe?). Although Perfect Dark became my favorite shortly after

Battlefield 1942. Not old enough to be cool and retro, not new enough to be appreciated by younglings. Still, plenty of good times all round.
WHAT?? It is cool! Maybe not old, but cool.
You misinterpret me. I love Battlefield 1942. I still boot it up on the rare occasion that there is a LAN party in town, or even just to screw around with the planes. I'm just saying it's not quite as classic as something like Doom or Wolfenstein.

Some of my fondest memories are of CTF in Berlin, or insane sniper wars in Operation Battleaxe.
I know, im just joking around. Plus, my favorite thing was bailing out of planes and then running behind the enemy and randomly knfing them

Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition.

This came out at about the same time I discovered that boobies were AWESOME. Coincidence?

Wolfenstein 3D. Yes, right at the start.

I was 3... has had no negative-mustkillhitler-impact on me whatsoever.

Battlefront 2 for the PS2. Until then I had not played anything without "Sid Meier's" in front of the title. In fact, I'm still playing Alpha Centauri.

I want to say it was the futuristic robot-shooting FPS minigame from Thrillville, the minigame was pretty darn fun, the game sucked.

I played Wolfenstein 3D a long time ago. It was the first FPS I ever played. Hell, it's practically the first FPS.
