It think my first was Republic Commando. It was also my first multiplayer game, good times.

Definitely GoldenEye. My best friend (notwithstanding the fact that he used to beat me up on a regular basis) had it, and I always used to hang out at his house after school, and he would pwn my ass all over the place.
Moonraker Laser FTW.

I played demo versions of Wolfenstein (wolf.exe) and Doom (doom.exe), but the first one I owned was Duke Nukem 3d (duke3d.exe). I remember having a boot floppy so I could maximize my ram for playing (ah, gotta love editing your autoexec.bat and config.sys - simplier times).

I'd tie up the phone for hours playing with my friend via phone on our custom-built maps (so much fun - I think I still have the editor and the maps somewhere). We even made our own .voc taunts :)

If you're playing the first map in multiplayer, the hidden rooms in the street area are the cheap areas to pick off your opponent. Survelance cameras made that game playable :)

Ahhhhh... 1994 :)

EDIT - damn, I'm old. I was 14 in 1994 :-(

DooM or Duke 3D

of course, I was young and they scared the hell out of me. I think the next one I played was GoldenEye.

Metroid Prime for the Gamecube, it was the first FPS my parents ever let me play. I was so proud :).

First was Duke Nukem 3d, I was in 7th grade and my science teacher (Mr. Ferguson) brought it in on a day we had nothing else to do. He might've been the best teacher ever.

I remember playing a few demos of FPS games i clearly remember serious sam (don't know which one) and Quake (again, no idea which one).

But I know that the first full FPS I got was medal of honor: rising sun. I loved that game at the time.

As far as goldeneye goes, I could never get past bunker on 00 agent mode. I wasn't actually very good at it myself, I could only finish the game on agent mode, and get most of the way through on secret agent. Perfect Dark was way better, in my opinion.
Funnily enough that was the same level I finally gave up on the game on, and decided to hell with the bonus levels. Then someone whispered in my ear about a certain safe in the level that contained dual silenced pp7s... well that got my curiosity up and not only spurred me on to finish it, but now I regularly play bunker on 00 Agent just because it's the most challenging and unpredictable level of the lot!

Personally I think Perfect Dark's multiplayer wins hands down, but Goldeneye trumps it for single player.
