Tekken 3, nobody I knew even came close.

On retrospect I was just another noob who knew how to do all the moves...but that's way more than you could say for most of my competition.

I suppose getting really good depends on the time and place. Back then it really seemed I was really good due to lack of competition and online play. In actuality, I doubt any of us have gotten really good at any game ever, if we take into consideration the worldwide plateau.

I'm sorta ok at Blazblue which i've been playing for 2 years...but the actual really good at it people would probably beat me without trouble.
I used to be good at Tekken 3.. it was the first PS2 game i ever played.. then i started to suck. Then i got Tekken 5 and got good...ish. King & Bryan <3
Tekken 3 is a ps1 game.

You may be thinking of tag.

Had to be either Tony Hawk's Underground or Amplitude, I can't seem to recall which one I got first.

I remember it like it happened just yesterday... Playing horse with a friend and making him wait 5 minutes each turn while I was scoring millions upon millions. Fun times.

And Amplitude? It was the first rhythm game I got into (and last, apart from FreQuency). Damn, I remember those late night sessions, playing on 'insane' difficulty, the final songs... The moment where your eyes can't follow the screen anymore, but your fingers still do, it's like a little piece of transcendence.

The first Unreal Tournament probably. I was only like 7, but I fucking loved the game, still do, and I'm still good at it. Most recently, I'm not sure. I haven't bought a new game in ages, I would say Rift, but my ehmm.. "skills" to play as a Ranger/Assassin in other MMOs have pretty much carried over.

I started playing games properly at around 5. Some games I thought were really hard because I failed to notice stuff, but others I was unreasonably good at for my age. It seemed I had no idea of strength and perspective, so I attacked the massive enemies head on and kicked the shit straight out of them. I remember being epic at Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time.

Pokemon Crystal. XD

It was also the first game I played that wasn't a hand-me-down from my big brother.

Mario Kart 64 for the Nintendo 64 back when I was lil' kid. I played the game on 50CC for so long that I beat the game on 150CC on the first try.

Or if we're talking multiplayer games, Battlefield 2 back when you could still dolphin dive (or dropshot as it's known nowadays).

Probably Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. I practically memorized every single bonus room location, including the "bonus room within a bonus room" one. Mario Kart 64 was another one. I absolutely dominate with Wario up to this very day.

Nowadays I'd probably say Team Fortress 2. I'm not "pro" material by any means, but I consistently manage to be at or near the top of the scoreboard on most public servers.

Crash Team Racing. I'm still totally and completely unbeatable at that game. If there's only one game in the world which I have mastered, it's CTR
A challenger appears. Everyone else I know refuses to play against me, because I have a 'zone' with CTR. There's nothing else I focus on so hard.

Also, The Ship. While far from unbeatable, I take first place almost every game, even if I get my ass shot up a few times.

I can't think of any multiplayer games I'd consider myself good at, but for single player, I got very good at Ratchet and Clank. It was the first game I got for the ps2, and for a long time it was the only ps2 game I had. I misunderstood an online guide and thought I had to wrench Drek to death to get the "Going Commando" achievement. The reason I'd consider myself good at it is that I managed it!

I was so annoyed when I didn't get anything afterwards :(

My first game that I got good at had to be the original Doom.

Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, I guess. They were among my first games and I played them like crazy.
Gotta re-play them some day!

the first game I got really good at was SSBM. I went to local tourneys and such. I am nowhere near best of the best or anything, but a normal person stands almost no chance. in terms of tourney rules, it would be unusual for me to do less than a 3 stock against a human (tourney rules = no items, balanced stages only, 4 stock, 8 minute timer, no stall tactics).

other than that, I got really good at timesplitters future perfect in my group of friends. 120 kills in 20 minutes with 97% accuracy, and 123 headshots (with bots). I have NO idea how I ended up with 123 headshots and 120 kills.
