First thoughts on games?

Simple enough thread. If you can actually remember the first thing you thought about a game, write it down here and see if people agree with those thoughts.

I'll get the ball rolling with what I thought of ICO, which someone had on a demo PS3:

'I don't know what I'm doing, what I'm meant to be doing or if I'm having fun, and I want to play some more.'

"Holy shit these people are fucking skinny. They look like they'd snap if the wind blew too hard!"

Awesome game though. In the progress of trying to 100% it.

Well a couple of days ago I started up Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for the first time (it was actually the demo, that led to me buying the game).

I fixed all my options, started a new game, and it loaded. I started inside a... something... I don't know, kind of like a large tomb. I moved forward, and stopped, and watched momentum carry my character just a little bit forward after I let go of the key. Then I looked around with the mouse and noticed that I could see my character's body and legs if I looked down.

My thoughts: "Oh my god this game is going to be fucking AWESOME!"

I didn't know why I loved it so much, but without even doing anything significant, I did.


Then I learned the combat system and the game couldn't be bought fast enough.

The first thing I ever played was Legend of Zelda OoT. The sad thing is, nothing quite ever measured up to that first feeling of awesomeness.

Don't buy at dedicated game stores (go to Target or something) and they generally only cost $80-90.

It depends on the game. Playing Zelda 2 I thought, "Well this isn't so bad. It's cool that I get XP but WHOA?! ENEMIES TAKE AWAY MY XP!?! How the hell am I supposed to level up?! This shit is hard..."

As for new games it's more like, "Come Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon easy achievements!"

Upon seeing the cover art for "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines", I thought:

"So, that's a game about being a schoolkid in a supernatural world? Like Harry Potter or School Bites?"

...

Ok, not sure exactly how you'd accurately represent the game on the cover art, but I really don't think they were trying that hard when then stuck a pic of Jeanette in front of a random dark background pic.

I bought Supreme commander 2 and was thinking, come on, it can't be that bad. They may have changed the game style but im sure it's still pretty good and just as great as the original.

Oh boy was I wrong. The most dissapointed I have ever been with a game.

Oblivion "This game looks pretty dated. Boring menus, shitty opening cutscene, obnoxious interface. Character creator defaults to human males. No thanks, what else is there? Elves, yawn. Dark elves, lame. Lizard people, boor...wait what? Cat people? Best game ever!" And then the game crashed.

This, but £40 GBP. And then something like "Oh, the joys"
Or in the case of GoW3, dazzled by explosives... it was a good 2 hours

Guitar Hero: Okay, I'm playing guitar. It's easy. Time to bring up the difficulty. *Later* I think I have Carpal Tunnel...
Team Fortress 2: Okay, this seems alright, I just have to- HATS!? My life is complete.
