1) The original Diablo
2) Total Annihilation
3) Conker's Bad Fur Day
4) At least one of the Fallout games
5) Duke Nukem

I could post many more but with only 5 choices, I tried to pick different genres,

My Five:
1. Shadow of the Colossus, It's a great game that I must've beaten at least a thousand times, and I still love it.
2. Breath of Fire 3, I still remember the day my brother bought this, we played it for hours and ended up beating it within a week.
3. I Wanna Be the Guy, Same reason as this guy:

This has got to be the most irritating game that was ever developed. Each level is cruelly designed to hate and kill you at every opportunity.
4. Half Life series, These games have the be the best FPS games ever made. Sure they're single player, but I've never liked multiplayer shooters.....ever. (And heres to hoping that Black Mesa Source will be released one day.)
5. Phantasy Star Online (Either Episode 1 or 2. 3 and Universe were garbage IMO), These games are just so udderly addicting. It is the only Online Action-RPG that I've seen so far. (other than Monster Hunter)

Portal-Anyone can get though it, and theres no other game quite like it

Psychonauts-I believe this game should be experience by everyone. Psychonauts is a real eye opener, proof that story can win over gameplay.

Call of Duty 4-It's simply one of the best examples of an FPS, and is easier for a wide range of people to get into that other great FPSs such as Half-Life 2 or older ones such as Doom.

Braid-Everyone should play this game. It devides the clevers from the thickys.

World of Warcraft-Ok, ok, I know it's an MMO. But it's is the best and most polished MMOs out there, and there are plenty of people out there who love this kind of thing. It's at least worth playing a free trial.

CoD4: The best current multiplayer FPS on the market. Tons of depth, good balance, and fast frenetic fun.

Warcraft III: The best RTS experience of all time in my opinion. Thousands of custom gametypes as well as a great single-player story.

Halo 2: The best online FPS of all time in my opnion. Balance, fun, and a ridiculously high skill cap.

Mass Effect: One of the best stories ever told in a video game. Doesn't break any molds, but does so many things right it's hard to put it down.

Super Mario 64: A true innovation. Still to this day I consider this the best platformer/adventure game ever.

Indigo prophecy
I'm sorry, but Indigo Prophecy? That game (If you can call it a game) crushed my soul, stabbed me and then ground my crushed soul into the wound.

Although I definitely agree with the first two.

Maybe with the addition of Call of Duty:United Offensive, C&C Red Alert 2:Yuri's Revenge and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.
Disregarding what you've convinced yourself the status of your soul in, Indigo prophecy is the most immersive 3rd person game in my opinion. As such, I believe it deserves my recommendation.
Well okay then. As long as there is method behind your madness. =P To each his own.

Most of what I would reccomend has been said around a million times by now, but I have one that a LOT of people will scoff at unless you've played it. Ouendan! / Elite Beat Agents on the DS, really quite new in amongst a lot of classic titles, but I was shedding manly tears of pure happiness playing that for the first time. For those sick to shit of Guitar Hero, let this restore your faith in music games.

1) Wasteland
2) Fallout (1, 2, or 3, doesn't matter as long as you play one of them since Wasteland is what spawned them)
3) Duke Nukem 3D
4) Mass Effect
5) Bioshock
--

I limited it to PC games. Obviously this is the order I would prefer people to play them in, and yes I am serious I included FO3 with the other two because IN MY OPINION it was good. ;)
