So the patch that really wasn't set to fix all that much, ends up breaking more things than it fixed?

Great. Guess I'll find something else to play while waiting for another patch, hopefully this one won't break things even worse.

So i suppose the backwards dragons aren't as hilarious when the rest of the game is a bit broken?

So the pros and cons of this patch are

Chance of backwards dragons (pro) vs potentially broken game (con)

Damn, that's a hard decision...

I really hope Bethesda patches in "backwards dragons" somewhere in the options after this

Can someone please tell me how you can hinder Steam from uploading that patch?
I think you might have to use steams horrendously buggy offline mode. Either that or go around looking for a crack to make it work around steam. There will be one out available somewhere, there always is.
There is an option is steam to not immediately check for game update.

I have the ps3 version, and so far it seems like the patch has fixed all the issues I was having with the game. Only weird thing that happened was a dragon spawning on me and immediately dying as soon as I left the twilight sepulcre.

The catch 22 is that you have to be online to go to offline mode, and if you go online the patch will start downloading and won't let you play until it is finished and installed. I guess if you were in offline mode and set the non update option you would be okay, but you would have to already be in offline mode and patches wouldn't be a problem..

I've made a thread earlier warning people not to download the patch. I haven't downloaded it yet myself, but I'm going to avoid it until Bethesda deals with the issue.

It's a shame really. I was hoping for a patch that would fix some of Skyrim's quests. Instead we get a patch that takes away elemental resistances.

Ah well. I still have Skyward Sword to keep me occupied.
I actually heeded that warning, and I'm glad I did. Nice catch. Now I'm back to whiling away the hours in Nexus TJI and Supcom FA.

Rooting around on the forums, the elemental resistances being missing are everyone's problem, no matter what platform you're on. Numerous accounts of getting stuck in books as well, so I doubt the problem is OP's keybinds.

Well, I had modified the ini file to turn off smooth mouse and with the patch the game now runs twice as smoothly on the pc, moved from high to ultra so I guess it differs from person to person

Maybe it's just a PC version thing?
Same here. I've noticed no difference in the game since the patch (playing on 360)

Well except for that fact that now I can get married without random suicides happening and ruining the ceremony!
Oh Dear Corn Flakes!!! I love your avatar!

OT: I haven't purchased Skyrim, and I don't intend to[footnote]The less than clever work-around being that I asked my brother to get it for Christmas[/footnote].

Registered purely to say that I am having the exact same problem.

Can't fast travel because mouse1 exits the map, TAB does nothing, keyboard does not work while picking locks, favourites menu does not work because mouse1 exits it.

I replaced my modified prefs.ini file with the backup I had, no change. Tried using the 4GB launcher and launching from steam, no change. Deactivated the few mods I had installed, no change.

Currently looking for a way to roll back to 1.1, and cursing to myself.

**EDIT**

Okay, I think I managed to fix it.

Make sure you are not using any mods (smithing ones seem to cause bugs in this update)

1. Delete the Skyrim - Interface.bsa file in the Data folder.

2. Go to Steam, right click Skyrim, then go to Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

3. It will verify for a bit and then say that there are 2 or 3 files missing, and that they will be replaced.

After that, the mouse1 problem was totally fixed for me, though you will have to redo your settings (like subtitles and unticking the xbox controller box)

Arrow keys do not work, but I'm pretty sure that's just the patch being fail.

Glad Im not the only one with these problems. If you do manage to find a fix, could you post it on this forum? I would keep working on it but it is currently 1 am here......

xbox 360 here, and the only thing the patch seems to have done for me is make the load times a bit shorter, but that could be my imagination. I don't time them or anything...

Of course.
Can I just ask, did you have any mods of any kind installed? Because this problem seems to be pretty rare, so I was wondering if it was related to something more specific.

Ha! Did you read that thread? The parallels are quite amusing.

Sidingwith:
In my experience, Steam's "do not automatically update this game" option does not do what's on the box.

>Do not update
>Don't launch the game
>Golden.

>Do not update
>Launch the game
>UPDAAAAAAAATE

Thanks Steam :/

Keep Steam offline to avoid this

--Addendum--
I just went to my Steam library to confirm this and I couldn't launch Space Marine (The only non-updated game in my library at present)

Steam - Error

This game is currently unavailable.
Please try again at another time.

>Turn updates on
>Updates
>Game launches

I couldn't launch it in Offline mode either until the update had finished.
This game is not ready to be played in offline mode

The way that Steam updates games is far from ideal.

It's far from the polished and refined Godsend it's made out to be.
I have a good reason for not wanting my games updated through Steam.

Keep it offline and pray that it stays functional...

Yep, I told Steam to not update as soon as 1.1 was released and everything was stable (for me, anyway). I also had a 4GB patcher, and didn't want to have to update it.

Of course, it was updated.

Thanks Steam.

I was having similar problems to the button-recognition ones you mention in the original build. Half the time when I try to select a convo option it ends the conversation, half the time i try to look through a shop's wares it closes the shop... Just crapola!

Same here, but not very often and it was still playable; I just put it down to the bad UI.

Now Skyrim is completely unplayable.
