I'm just waiting for the WiiS360. Flame Wars never really interested me. Although I will defend my console (PlayStation 1-3) if someone disses it, I really don't care to start crap.
You're talking about the console war, and it's one of the stupidest things the Human race has ever created.
Everyone likes their own brand. Sports guys will hate Nike and love Reebok or love Reebok and hate Nike, for no reason other than they always buy that product.
I notice the first thing people do that are new to this site is either
1) Make a stupid console thread (like the "why the psp is better than the 360" one a while back)
2) Make a thread that has to do with Halo.
OT: PS3 is the best console....
EDIT: Just so I don't have my inbox spammed I'll like you who is reading this comment to know that I don't take this thread seriously. Whats the point on discussing why people like to bash a console that they may or may not have? They do so because they have nothing better to do or because they found an Xbox/ps3 in there moms bed....

Cognitive dissonance. Basically its people trying to justify their purchase. No one wants to accept that they bought the 'wrong' console.

Pretty much what everybody has said so far, people want to justify their purchase and prove it's better than the one they didn't get. I've got a PS3, Xbox360 and Wii and I like them all. The only difference I find with the PS3 and Xbox is that I get free online gaming with the PS3 so that's the reason I prefer that console but other than that I find them pretty much identical.
Whenever I do see a flame war though, I don't care about the subjects. It's how well people make their arguments, and how clear their judgement is, is how I take sides.

OP you forgot PC people they do it too . But yes it is mostly making up for some insecurity the person has. It could be a fear that they made the wrong choice or some personal issue. But as the internet has proven this real life problem can be fix by telling random internet people they are inferior to you (as you are projecting yourself through your game system).

360 breaks at the drop of a hat, but has a lot of games, and i really like the concept of achievements
