So I finally got around to watching No Country For Old Men, and holy shit. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. I don't think I've ever used those words to compliment a film before.

Anyone else have an experience with a film or game that just... floors you?

[small]I'd give more to discuss but I don't want to ruin it, and my brain is still reeling from all that...[/small]
Yes! But I can't remember any right now. Whenever anybody asks me for things I know the answer to, the answer goes right out the window :(

The window in my brain, obviously. It's when people are looking for evidence of my misdeeds that things go out literal windows.

PS, First response. Love, your stalker. X.

Oh man, that's so much creepier looking than I had ever hoped it might be. WIN!

First off that is an excellent movie. Every line in that film is powerful.

Mine was Million Dollar Baby. I didn't know what the movie was about, and the entire film had me moved. I shed a few man tears at the end.

I watched Snow Angles last night.

Yeah...I cried myself to sleep. Not entirely because of the film, but it certainly didn't help>

A Clockwork Orange had that effect on me the first time I watched it, loads of films have had a huge effect on me, but that one's closest to what you described.
And yeah, No Country for old men was brilliant.

I'd make one of my usual witty responses but seriously.
My brain...

Fucking hell, that's probably the most powerful thing I've ever seen...

I've never seen it, but I'm gonna have to because it won best picture (I think?) and it was filmed in my state.

The ending to The Mist. That ending can pretty much go eff itself. There is a limit.

Berserk (the manga)

It's been many, MANY years since a piece of modern media impacted me in the same way as this comic did.

I had a similar experience with A Beautiful Mind. Not an incredibly great movie otherwise, but come 2/3s of the way it, when
it turns out he's a schizophrenic, and his friends are all part of his imagination
I pretty much shat myself. Same with Fight Club.

Cloverfield. Watching this movie is like getting hit by a train and then going the distance against Mike Tyson. Painful, but oddly fun.

Pan's Labyrinth. Holy crap, I'm still reeling from that one. It took me a long time to really figure out what I thought of it before I eventually decided it was a beautiful masterpiece of film.

Same goes for District 9 and The Sixth Sense, if for slightly different reasons.

Achievement unlocked: Broke someones brain with text. I want prizes for my achievements. Oh, I've derailed this thread and I feel guilty. I'll try an actual answer now.

I don't have a film based answer, but when I read the end of "Matter" by Iain M Banks, that was pretty powerful. Oh! And, I know this is silly, but the ending of Dr Horrible's Sing-along-blog really shocked me.

You know, it was such a short show, that when they killed penny, I was really, really surprised, because it was pretty light up until that point that it was a total rug-pulled-from-under-feet moment.

Yes! That's how I kind of feel now, like when I watched Pan's Labyrinth.

No country for old men was a TERRIBLE movie.

The monsters were unrealistic, the CGI was terrible, WAY light on the giant robots, and too much meaghan fox and douchy mc doucherface.

Michael Bay is TERRIBLE

You didn't break my brain, the film did silly! What you're doing is like poking road kill with a stick... Overkill!

Oh and about Doctor horrible:
[small]I cried at the end...[/small]

I finally watched Fight Club for the first time last week.

Holy crap was it good. And I can't believe I avoided the massive plot twist.
