Well, I once saved over my 100+ hour Kingdom Hearts save file with a file I had maybe 2 hours on. My "backup" save file was at 65 or so hours.

On the other hand I learned to ALWAYS save twice.

Also, not mine, but damn funny:

On N64 the Perfect Dark cartridge decided it would erase all its save data. I had a like 32 DAYS logged in the Combat Simulator mode. I still play it every now and then but I haven't got anywhere near that now. Also, all the controllers handle like shit now and it makes playing games ALOT harder than it was.

More recently, was playing Midnight Club LA, doing a wager race on medium, needed one more to complete the objective thingy. Lost 6 races in a row and gave up.

My gaming pc shat out the hard drive. I lost ALL my saves including games like Oblivion (170 hours at least) among many many missions I had made for Operation Flashpoint. I tried to recover the files but no avail. It still haunts me to this day.
Also my cousin saving over my FF7 save file on the fight right before Sephiroth.

I was lucky enough I was backed up a bit before (beginning of disk 2 I think) but I lost a lot of hours

This didn't happen to me but it's one of my favorite memories as a wee tiny. We had two cartridges of Super Mario on the SNES for some reason. My dad has worked in the industry so we had lots of extra stuff lying around. ANYWAY, my brother had to be two, maybe, and he somehow managed to erase my dads entire file where he had almost everything completed. I remember my dad found out and then held the two games and said 'this one is mine and this one is yours.' Then he sat down and started all over again.

And this wasn't FML worthy, more irony, but my dad, again, got us a Japanese N64 before it was released in the states and our Mario 64 was in Japanese as well. We beat the game and I'm all :D :D :D YOSHI before we realize we have no idea what he was saying.

Most of my FML's have to do with bad internet connections and FFXI drops. Ugh, just, ugh.

Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Gamecube

Played the game every for a year and a half, at least three hours a day.

1642.5 Hours of lost game play Time because suddenly the save wanted to become corrupted. Between me and my family we had all the house decked out, nearly every item collected. All KK songs collected, museum was filled, and all we really had left to get were rare holiday items.

Back in the day when I played the greatest game ever, Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1, I kept the disk in teh tray of my PS1. Bad move. I went to the washroom, only to return to see my 3 year old sister holding 2 halves of my favourite game ever. ='(.

It would have to be when I was playing Xenosaga for the PS2. I had just finished buying everything from a merchant before a huge boss battle, and I had to upgrade my battle mech things at the same time nature called. So I passed my controller off to my older brother and excused myself after giving him instructions on what to buy. I came back a few minutes later and asked him if he got everything, he simply smiled and nodded saying that I had enough credit to buy more upgrades. I was surprised until I dove into the boss fight ready to win, after about thirty minutes in I used the mechs only to find out that he didn't pay to have them repaired just upgraded. I was destroyed in a matter of seconds, and his reply was "I thought it was a package deal.....Sorry bro."

I remember when I had Pokemon Yellow on GBC, I had it completed, 99% of the pokemon captured... Then my little sister had a go, starting a new file, and SAVED THE GAME. FML, I cried, So I started again, getting hella' far like last time... AND SHE DID IT AGAIN.

So much anger in such a small mind.

Oh and Demon Souls, nuff' said.

I pop God of War 3 into my PS3 for about the millionth time. You can't fast forward through the cut-scenes, so I just lay back and relaxed for a while to get my fingers loosened up. Next thing I know, I hear the dialogue in the opening cut-scene start to loop. I figured it was no big deal, just turn on the subtitles and it's fixed right? Wrong. Now there's a delay between the characters' lip-movement and voice. Which makes no sense because the disc is intact. I later realize that my "invincible" PS3 was dying on me.

Two years ago I had my apartment broken into and my xbox360 was stolen. All my save files were on my hard drive and when I went to recover my gamertag, they said it was corrupt and they wouldn't let me access it. So I had to start over; savefiles, gamerscore, everything. After a month of so forced break from games, I bought a memory card and began new save files under a new gamertag on a friends xbox. After a few months of this I was almost back to where I had been before.

Unfortunately, a friend of mine accidentally (though to this day I'm not sure how accidental it was) formatted my memory card. FML ... had to start my save files over again.

Saving over my Grade Farming file on Vesperia with my under level 15 run, I started making up some new curse words just to fully vocalize my anger. 200 hours down the drain, fuck.

Back when I used to play Pokemon Ruby a lot, I was like two battles away from the end of the game. My nephew, however, went and saved over it, and I never managed to get that far again. FML.

Was playing Bioshock 2, had got to the near 3/4 of the game and then just when i pressed quick save, the computer crashed. Damn fluctuation. fortunately, the save file was there. Unfortunately after continuing the save file, it refused to save. So i had to re-do all the levels. :(

a lot of my FML moments come from botched save games
ending up losing hours of gameplay
as for games themselves
apart from occassionally annoying difficult bits
i never really get too angry or irritated by games
