I have little faith that people from this forum would be able to register this topic in their brains maturely, but I figure I'd give it a try.

And to specify, I'm not talking about terminators or androids. Think along the lines of perfectly human-looking robots.

A while ago there was this author on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart who wrote a book called Love and Sex with Robots. I have no read the book myself and forgot 98% of the interview (closer to 100%, ugh) But I want to get the general opinions of you people.

tl;dr version: Opinions on the subject on the topic title.

That is all.

I'd have a LOT of ethical issues with that idea... now sex with aliens. That's just smashing.

Robots. Aliens can be another thread.
But frankly, it would make more sense. There'd be little discussion.

I'm gonna AFK for TV. I hope replies improve in intelligence when I get back. But I doubt it will.

Sigh.

I think it's akin to a very expensive and fancy sex toy.
As for the 'love' bit? Well, I suppose someone could fall in love with a robot, same way they could with a car, or a house, or any other inanimate object. But I certainly don't think that such a love is a parallel with the love between two people.

A car can be replaced.
So can a house.
So can a robot (Good thing I backed up her memory before she exploded!).

People can't...
Though I don't doubt that science will try, eventually.

Well, it has mostly to do with your opening, which essentially called us all immature half-men. Not only that, but you forgot most of the source material and didn't provide your own opinion, let alone any reasons for debate.

That being said, I'd be fine with sex with robots. If they look and feel perfectly human, the chances that anyone will actually notice it's a robot, aside from lack of emotion, is so minute that unless you actually tell them will they actually notice.

Royksopp [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPqnxFgCrhg] made a song about this. Loving robots is sad business.
Wait, literally?

Really, though, just keep it to yourself and it prolly wouldn't be a problem.

Man, sorry, but women where you live clearly suck... and not in the good way :S
But on topic I suppose it's no different to a blow up doll, which some guys use... 'cept this one probably gives you more feedback. Now... if you were doing this, it's not something you'd advertise to your friends and family for the same reasons as the doll x)

I'd do it

Why not? If they look, act, and feel human...but you don't have to worry about them actually being human (aka, power them off). You can basically act out your craziest fantasies without fear that they will consider them too taboo or weird.

The only problem is what happens when they fall in love with you and go crazy, there were a few Outer Limits episodes on that...I miss that show.

Robot sex wouldn't be much different from using any other sex toy. As for robot love you could try reading Isaac Asimov's robot series which deals with it in one of the books (and sex as well).

By the way, the technical definition of an android is a robot designed to look and act like a human.

This idea creeps me out more than a little.
First off, it is impossible to fall in love with an inanimate object, you can become obsessed with one, but love? No.
I for one hope that this idea never becomes reality.
