Electric gonorrhoea - The noisy killer.

The relationship wouldn't go anywhere. Eventually I would want kids and she wouldn't be able to give me any, since the law would still frown on kidnapping...

EDIT: Crap! just remembered Battlestar Galatica...oh well, new argument: I want to maintain the purity of the human race (Crap! makes me sounds like Hitler). Newer argument: I don't want my girlfriend to get blown out an airlock by anti-automaton activists...

Anyone ever seen the video for "All is Full of Love" by Bjork? look it up on Youtube if not, now, I wanna try a wee test on you guys that a friend did on me.
Look at the second robot that appears in the clip? does anything look odd to you? if it does the "Uncanny Valley" has just struck again ^^ Look THAT up on wikipedia

Basically, its the idea that the more and more similar robots appear as humans, we will naturally be repulsed by them, some theories about it, natural mechanisms for rejecting an un-healthy looking mate perhaps, its interesting stuff.

Yeah, besides being an expensive sex toy I don't think it could go anywhere. Unless they had the ability to replicate human emotions and are basicly just aritificial intelligence at the time.

Has anyone seen the movie trailer coming out with Bruce Willis where everyone has a surrogate body? Sounds pretty similar to this idea.

If we are talking less about your Robby the Robots and more about the Replicant Sean Youngs, I'm down like a clown in Chinatown.

I haven't thought about sex with robots, but what I have thought about is brain-interface simulated reality (like in the matrix) and the endless possibilities it would provide :)

I guess it comes down to that thread that was on hear the other day - can robots ever be human?

I guess if it was artificial intelligence, Battlestar Galactica style, then there would be no difference,

but with the current technologies whose to say we don't already have relationships with our computers (though not traditional as we would have with a potential paramour)

I mean, a relationship could possily be defined as thus: "A trading of services and needs until one comes to depend on each other"

Think about how depended we are on machines for emotional content, such as laughing at the latest Yatzhee vid, scorning republicans on newspaper websites, even though I don't there are a substaintial amount of people who depend on the internet for the weird affection provided through pornography.

I know I love my little computer, it always works super fast, got some great apps, never lets me down. If my computer was a person - well it would be something akin to a slave as all it does it what it tells me.

I don't know where I'm going with this, I just like the sound my keyboard makes when I type...

Idiotic thread.
That's ironic coming from the guy who's on Probation from that mod thread.
Yea, the few people who insulted the thread were people who were on probation.

It's not a dumb thread. It's one that requires some thought before blindly insulting just because you think the subject matter is "odd".

The discussion is still viable.

If something like that would be the case, then yes I would, anything below that level: no thanks. I don't screw anything with at least regular human intelligence, and human looks. Counts for aliens as well, ofcourse. For now I'll stick with humans, if I can find a soulmate that is (no sex without love for me!).

All that goes without saying. We don't have intelligent robots quite yet. I'm asking about one's mental capability to do so.

anyone read "do androids dream of electric sheep? the main character, rick deckard, has a one night stand with an android. and if you've seen blade runner, you'll know these androids are perfect human substitutes, like soya. i think that perfectly encompasses all that you intend for this thread.

Read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. This is actually a fairly major plot point in it.

Edit: Fuck the dude above me.
