I'm sitting at my desk with a bag of delicious lychees. They are incredibly tasty and have a rather unique, fresh fruity taste to them (I believe they are the sole members of their particular plant type).

They are however a complete pain to eat. Each is has a diameter of just under 2 inches and a rather large stone/pit in the middle. They are coated in thick scaly skin and it is almost impossible to put enough pressure on the skin to break it with out causing juice to explode out of the fruit.

So, what are the little treats you love that frustrate you beyond belief?

mangoes. Love the blighters but as neat as you try to eat them it all just degenerates into a sloppy mess.

Crayfish. So much work for so little, yet it tastes so incredibly good.

Maryland blue crabs, when you eat them straight from the shell its incredibly messy and time consuming to get to the actual meat but i cant stop eating them.

Kippers... So salty and juicy but SO MANY DAMN BONES! They have hundreds of tiny bones that are so easy to choke on...

Oh and anything really juicy and sticky, I hate feeling sticky...

Seafood in general, gods way of showing that if you work hard you will get reward.

That said, my practiced hands can de-shell a prawn each... at the same time... while i chew the two prawns from the last feat of dextrous gluttony.

And oysters.

But oysters make me... um... well... Suffice to say i wish it was gas and extensive, explosive runs. Yes, there is worse.

Does it make one ultra-excited?

This.

I'm moderately adept, but it still takes some 4 minutes for what, 2, 3 ounces of meat? Though I understand Bawlmor natives have their time down to 2 minutes. I pity the novice.

I believe soft shell crab, as a dish, was created out of laziness.

Really big burgers. I'm talking burgers as big as your head big. Man, I love me a good burger.

You mean the kind of ones where you'd need to be able to detach your jaw for a solid bite? And the kind where the mixture of mushrooms and onions causes a frictionless jenga tower of meaty awesomeness? Damn, I made myself hungry.

Cherries, Green Olives (the kind that still have the pits) and artichoke. I love all three, but they're a real pain to try to eat.

The very same. I have not had a burger like that in a long time. I'm rather hungry myself now.

Oh, lol, okay. Sorry to slur your reputation there ultrajoe. I've heard they can do that. I don't think I've ever had them. Girlfriend once said eating raw oyster is "like french kissing Ariel" which is wrong on at least 3 levels.

Pomegranates, simply getting the seeds out of the thing is a lot of messy annoying and tasty work...

Yeah. Me neither. I think this weekend I might make some. My favourite construction is thus (on a white bap):

Bap top
Level 1: A little bit of stilton & cheddar cheese
Level 2: Onion ring with fried garlic & mushrooms in the middle
Level 3: Burger patty
Bap bottom
