Tomatoes... Hate them. I don't want to hate them. But I do. I think they're innards are disgusting and need to decide if they're liquid or solid already.

Tomatoes, ginger, cilantro, horseradish, pork bung, fish eggs, spumoni, sushi. There's probably more, but I feel gross enough just listing those.

Raw Squid & Snake Blood

I've eaten a lot of food which people might consider disgusting and out of everything, those are the two things I refuse to ever put in my mouth again.

Oh and Human flesh is a given, right? .... right?

Let that sink in for a second.
You sound like my mother.

It's a bit like saying you can't complain since someone has it worse than you. Somebody will always have it better and somebody will always have it worse, therefore your situation is entirely unique and should be treated as such.

Besides there's mountains of people dying due to political strategies based on energy and pollution due to excess mining and that isn't stopping you from using a computer in a unproductive manner, hein?

Man, everyone here who hates tomatoes can give me their share! :D Love em, love em, love em.

I will not eat the Triumvirate of Evil: broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels-sprouts. Whoever found out those things were edible must have either been dared while drunk or dying of starvation as far as I'm concerned.

Scalloped potatoes. Don;t ask me why, because I can't tell you. The smell, flavor and texture are a perfect storm of disgusting to me for some reason. You like them? Have mine.

As a side note, I will say that I live by the idea of "My plate - my problem. Your plate - none of my business." Like what you like. Like what I don't like. Enjoy it to your heart's content. Just don't expect me to load any onto my plate.

Bacon!

I MEAN WHO EATS THAT SHIT ANYWAY. It's greasy and disguisting and like half made of fat! You put it on anything and it ruins it. RUINS IT!

Why does this abomination exist. I imagine bears would eat it in order to store fat for their long hibernation. BUT ARE WE BEARS? NO.

NO WE ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT BEARS. Most of us anyway.
I can't help but imagine Ninja Bears now thanks to you.

And salad. I fucking hate salad.

The only kind of salad I seem to like at the moment is fruit salad. For obvious reasons.

OT: I'm trying to expand my pallet, so I'll try anything.

Thinking about it now, I don't think I've ever enjoyed fish that wasn't sushi.

Also, for some reason, I'm not a big fan of turkey. Just tastes weird to me. Heck, I'm not really a fan of meat beyond steak and hamburger to be honest.

Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts are a bit like tofu for me. You're a disgrace as a cook if you make it taste bad, because cooked in the right manner, they're delicious, and it's not that hard to just make them come out decent. If they're roasted they are nice and savory, but if you just boil the taste out of them and overcook them instead there's just going to be a watery mushy mess.

Anyway, I like your philosophy, although I'm going to add that if someone doesn't like something I like, I'll just steal it from them.

How can you eat broccoli? Anything that bitter can't be good for you.

Tofu is another evil, by the way. People have tried to tell me, "It has no flavor of its own in stir-fry. It absorbs the flavor of whatever it's cooked with." Bull. It has a flavor and that flavor is nasty. Of course, I also have a mild allergy to soy products, so that probably shifts things a bit.

At any rate Frission, if you would kindly pass me the tomatoes I'll be happy to pass the broccoli down to your end of the table. :)

Well the allergy would certainly explain everything.

Anyway on whether I would pass over my foods I can say that that you can get it from my cold dead hands. The seaweed, kimchi, broccoli, mussels, olives, marmite toasts and varieties of stinky cheese are mine!

No, really those are some of my favorite foods. I regularly just mooch off these foods from others and as an added bonus, no one ever wants my lunch.

Anyway, what kind of tomatoes do you like? Have you tried fresh cherry tomatoes? I think I'll try a favorite food thread.

Yams. I eat them if someone makes something with yams for me, but it will take every once of willpower I have to prevent myself from gagging during the process. I will eat just about anything, but there's something about yams that I find absolutely disgusting

I'm a big fan of both beef-steak and better-boy strains. Slice, salt, eat. Damn they're good. My mother grew dozens of tomato plants every summer and we harvested bushels upon bushels of them. Fresh tomatoes every year. She canned the remainder for use the rest of the year as whole tomatoes or as sauce. Her homemade spaghetti was magnificent. Put them in stews, in marinara sauce, sliced roma tomatoes on bread as authentic Italian pizza, thick slices in a sandwich/burger. (Aw dammit, now you've made me all nostalgic and hungry!)

Not a big fan of cherry tomatoes. Something about their flavor just doesn't seem properly . . . . . tomato-ey I guess.

Yes, because by giving up our choice in what we have to eat that will totally help them. Sacrifice our choice and the gods will look down kindly upon those starving children. It's not as if being able to be a bit picky somehow makes those kids starve.

If you don't like a topic, could you try not to use poor starving kids like that? It's not like you're making any suggestion to help them so it's hardly on their behalf.
I'm not "using" poor starving kids for anything. I'm putting a mirror infront of you to help you see how you're whining about something that is a luxury. If you can't see the sense in that I suppose it goes to show just how spoiled people have become, if this thread isn't already a showcase for that.
Well the mirror worked, but not in the way you intended probably.

I really had to be careful to not be too preachy.

EDIT: Tastes are also part of human experience. Many cultures can identify themselves by their food, and by talking about food we can communicate on a far closer level by talking about something common to all human beings. What's wrong with talking about food? Are we in such a cold uncaring state that we are only able to talk about big sad subjects?

Besides you're on a computer, which is a heavy luxury item, and you're using it to rant at people... in a part of the forum where we try to avoid that.

You're killing me here. I'm going to make sure to get spaghetti for sure next meal.

My grandparents used to have a garden too, but they mainly grew out cucumbers and peaches. I wasn't a fan of the cucumbers, but the peaches were wonderful. The skin was always nice and soft and they were as big as my fist. They were also so soft and juicy that the flesh melted in your mouth. It's weird how nostalgic this makes me feel as well.

Marcel Proust was actually able to write a long volume on the subject of memories that came from the smell and taste of a Madeleine.

Peas. Little green balls of tasteless evil. Also Ice cream, the texture makes me very ill. And Pizza, tomato based. Something about the sauce makes me nauseous.
