Food you refuse to eat

Celery is something I cannot stand, but mostly in excess. If all I can taste in the food is strong celery flavor, then I am done. This is due to a Chinese food issue my sister and I had once. We decided to order two to-gos of Cashew chicken lo mien. It generally comes with chicken, cashews/cashew sauce, noodles and assorted vegetables. Well apparently, they failed to warn us that they were out of assorted vegetables and instead substituted all veg with Celery. We were only able to eat maybe 1/2 the meal before it was too crazy with celery. I have no problem if its strong flavor is mixed like in a salad or other dish, but straight up celery flavor is something I will refuse nearly every time.

So long as it's safe to eat I'll try anything at least once. I do have a friend who goes a little green whenever I offer him a nice juicy crumbed lamb's brain.

Tapioca.

Loved it for a short time when I was a kid. Until my father saw me eating it and yelled out "Ah, fish eyes!" From that point on I gag and dry heave any time I try eating it.

McDonalds (and pretty much every other fast food joint). No Bacon.

And no sodas either.

Never again.

Have you told your parents?
Yeah but luckily I have a pretty supportive family.
As long as word doesn't get out, I should be fine.

Have you made it yourself, or are we talking restaurant mashed? Because homemade mash is pretty nice, whereas the mashed you get from restaurants tends to be pretty godawful... Homemade mash, with plenty of milk and butter, and blended to a smooth creamy purée? Pretty nice. Lukewarm, lumpy, flavourless crap found at restaurants? That stuff is horrid, and I don't blame you for throwing up from it.
All of it, in any form, is disgusting.
Milk and butter makes it worse.

Well I'm not picky and I usually try things before I judge but one food I refuse to eat is escargot (snails). just ugh...no.

I also refuse to eat most fast food, places like McDonalds and the like because I don't believe they serve food from personal experience and a ringing endorsement of a mate saying "I'm impressed by this burger and chips, it tastes of bugger all and I'm still hungry." There's also oysters that I refuse to eat but that's mainly because my dad is allergic and I'm worried of inheriting that trait and don't want the possible gastric punishment of finding out.

Finally there's coleslaw but that's due to not liking the taste and seeing a couple of teachers dancing in it during a camping trip play, considering the previous groups plays of throwing water we all ran for cover and threw up barricades expecting them to throw the stuff at us.

Sometimes I will try things I have been known to not like to see if my taste has changed at all and have usually been pleasantly surprised

I'd say that there isn't much that I've had so far that I can't at least tolerate. However, with the exception of foods that are supposed to be (pizza, mac and cheese, mixed vegetables, etc.)I absolutely DESPISE having my food mixed together, I don't even like having sauce on spaghetti.

Also, it might be unusual, but I also like most any meat I eat to be bone dry, it's practically tasteless and it feels like I'm chewing on rubber when I eat meat that isn't dry. If it isn't after cooking I get a couple paper towels and squeeze all the juices out.

Capthca: Fava beans

I don't even know what those are Capthca.

There is nothing I will refuse to eat (of edible things), there are things I don't like though, 3 things that I know I didn't like when I had them last time (years ago, not going to make myself stuff I might not like again): swine heart, swine liver, and durian (tastes like it smells to me).

While I'll eat most things I tend to steer away from any kind of raw seafood. I don't care if your chef is a master at preparing it. It isn't cooked.

Also anything pickled in a jar because seriously that much vinegar can't be good for you.

And lastly celery. People tell me it's good for you. I guess it is if you need to lose weight and the only way you can is to eat something that has less calories in it than it takes to eat then sure whatever. I find it mildly insulting that people tell me to eat celery when they can clearly see I'm pretty much skin and bone. Also it tastes like musty water.

Mushrooms

They smell good when cooked and probably add some flavour to a dish but the texture of a cooked mushroom...the squelchy, slimy, soft texture is horrible and it's all I think about when I put a mushroom in my mouth. Disgusting.

Tim Schafer hates mushrooms too!

Guybrush Threepwood quote from The Secret of Monkey Island - "I had a feeling in hell there would be mushrooms"

EDIT:

I have never tried Oysters/Mussels but I avoid them because they look like a pile of snot (and I imagine would have a similar texture to mushrooms haha).

Scallops are gross too...it's like eating the ocean. I love all seafood as long as it doesn't taste like the ocean or is obviously processed (seafood sticks).

Not really a fan of tomatoes or sushi but I would eat it if I was hungry enough.

I 'm open minded when it comes to food: I've eaten snails, kangaroos, KFC, Mc d's, testicles e.t.c. but when offered frog legs I politely refused.

I can eat anything, since I'm not a squeamish little girl. Except for olives, those are icky.

Tomatoes are my number-one hated food, ever - even the sight of one can make me nauseous!

I'm also no fan of those "cheese" slices that contain 0% cheese and the abomination that is "Cheese-Wiz".

I stopped using margarine after it was revealed that it's almost identical to plastic on a molecular level - mmm, tasty!

Soft drinks (Coke, Sprite, Fanta etc.) - It's VERY rare that I touch these! Fruit juice is ok though, so long as it's not concentrated and full of crap.

Alcohol-Free beer - An insult to reason and logic, plus the ones I have tried all tasted like they had soap in!

Alcopops - Because I am not a girl!

Testicles, intestines, penis, brains and similar parts of an animal - kidneys are ok though!

Predators. I won't eat cat, dog, snake, crocodile, bear, or shark. And I haven't. It's a personal rule, but if someone somehow fed me one of these things and misled me into it, I'd kick the shit out of them.

I don't like sea bugs either, but I acknowledge that shrimp and crab meat is tasty- again, it's just that the thought of eating them grosses me out.

Fish. I cannot and will not eat anything, that is in any relation to sea, ocean, or river.

I don't like cheese or butter. Or non-skimmed milk with anything. I can never take milk on its own. Also tomatoes and all related products.

Can't stand mashed potatoes, used to tolerate them when I was younger...love roast, though.

I'm against sauces in large amounts. At this point you might ask "What DO you like!?"

I love raw fruit and veg, and love seafood. I need to try more.

Mussels, man, srsly. They are the greatest thing. I'm eating dulse right now. So tasteh!

Eggplant.

Slimy and gross. You don't even chew it, it just kind of slides down your throat.

I can choke it down if I really have to, but it makes me dry reach.

Anyone who says things like this should be forced to eat an entire tub of margarine.

OT: Olives. Never liked the flavor. And I'm not a big onion fan, either, but unlike olives, they do taste good with some things, usually meat.

Beans have a weird texture to them that I find unappetizing, but I'd eat them if I had to.

I used to hate sausages, but I grew to like them. Same with most nuts.

When I was younger, I didn't like oranges, then when I was a teenager, I liked them. Back to hating them again, but unlike before, where I could tolerate the juice, now it just tastes like vomit to me.
