I am willing to accept misspellings and minor grammar errors without complaint so long as I can readily parse the meaning without having to expend much effort on the subject. I am however annoyed when it is clear that no effort was made in writing a post. It isn't as though you're facing a deadline - you have all the time in the world to write the post you put up here so at least do us the courtesy of making an effort. I don't expect perfection but if you want me to respect anything you have to say, at least make an effort when it comes to communication.

I do hate when people are complaining about the way i write. I'm not good in english, and if it wasnt for the internet i wouldnt never write in english anyway since it's not my first language. But people often assume that everyone is a native english speaker...

The simple act of differentiating 'their','there', and "they're". Also 'your', 'you're'. And idiots who disregard basic grammar. Also I find l337 speak totally abhorrent.

I hate stuff, like this.
You people, are Escapists.
See, what I mean?

I saw something like the above on Facebook. It was one of the most pretentious abuses of grammar I have ever personally encountered.

I am mainly annoyed by lack of punctuation and capitalization. I liked this site more when this was a haven for grammar nazis and the one place on the internet people would type in proper English. It helped me improve my writing even when English is my native language. Then again my writing before was just plain terrible.

While lots of things annoy me when it comes to spelling on the internet the thing that gets me the most is a lack of punctuation. It makes for giant run-on sentences and renders everything that was typed unreadable and gives me a headache.

The thing that annoys me most is when people (mainly English people) write 'should of' instead of 'should've'. It's just so incredibly wrong.

I admit, I suck at the English language for most of it though I think "whats the fucking point?"

Such as "there going to the shops", "their going to the shops" and "they're going to the shops", are any of those sentances unreadable or do you miss the meaning of two of them? No, as your reading it in your head there all the same, so where is the problem?

If I was using wrong words, for example I was using "dog" instead of "there" then fine shout at me but if I am using the wrong there or were? Get lost.

Other things that piss me is "phone" who was the first twit to spell it "phone"? Why the "PH", some wrong with "F". "Knife", who put that "K" there and why?

I am not surprised people think English is so hard to learn, it's full of bullshit little nuances that really don't matter.

I mean if there was only one were and one there, there would be no need for you guys to be so wound up by posts like mine.

I bet after this post most of you are raging. Sorry.

I get annoyed when 'your' and 'you're' are mixed up. But I won't post about it, if it's understandable language then it's good. I might comment about no use of full stops because it makes it 'difficult' to read, but I won't go out of my way to correct grammar.

Also, this. The part about verbs also hit well with me. How I love Fry.

When people insert apostrophes for no reason. Yeah, I went there!

OT: A general lack of basic punctuation, paragraphing and coherent sentences annoys me. Everyone makes little mistakes once in a while, and sometimes people get stuck with silly habits that they do without realising, but I can forgive those.

Although now that I say it, I can't forgive people who still get there, their and they're mixed up. How difficult can it be?!

If you need rules:

There = place

Their = I for possession

They're = They are, that's why there's an apostrophe there, dumb arse!

I teach writing on a daily basis. When I am at my job, I will enforce grammar rules.

When I am on the Internet, however, I don't care. I've learned not to be bothered by bad grammar. As long as I can understand the message, I can put aside my need to correct grammar.

And yes, according to most dictionaries, you are supposed to capitalize Internet.

Any use of text speak outside of a text message.
Using your/you're, where/were, there/their/they're, to/too/two incorrectly.
Random capitalisation of words.
Not captalising I when it's on its own or used with I'm/I'll etc.
People who use know and now the wrong way wround, its suprising how often you see this.
Wrong use of apostrophes.
Spelling simple words wrong, not all words just simple ones.

Slightly related:
I think it's odd when people use the word spelled for the past tense of spell.
It's perfectly correct but it just looks odd to me, I always use spelt (which is also correct).

Well, for one, it's "Nazis". Apostrophes are for possessives, not plural subjects.
I was going to say this. Considering the topic, the thread name is meant as a joke, right?
By the Old Ones, I certainly hope so...
I thought he was saying, "For the grammar nazi is here!" I was thinking, "Fear not?"

I'm a grammar nazi, but I don't comment on other's mistakes. Then I'd never do anything else. The things that annoy me so much that I may consider it are the more common nad/or obvious ones, like their/there/they're; your/you're and such.
btw, funny title (I hope...)

Good spelling and grammar help keep the internet a nice place to be, nobody forces you to, so don't act like you're being badly done to.
