I used to be a pretty big player back in '06, i stopped playing a few months before the wilderness and free trade was removed, i came back to the game for a few months in '09 but i got sick of it again, the only way to do well in the game is to be playing it regularly, however it gets boring when you play it so much, not to mention all the confusion you'll have if you come back after a while.

Im glad the wilderness and free trade is coming back though, i remember when it really felt like a marketplace where there would be hundreds of players gathered around all selling and buying items, it was exciting in a way, and the wilderness always kept me on my toes due to threat from other players, removing it was a huge mistake. Also it was awesome being able to trade whatever you wanted, especially if you were trying to give a mate some items to help them out

The hell do you think I'm doing, as an ex fanboy of Runescape? I'm gonna play the shit out of that *****.

Excuse my language, but I'm rather excited.

Holy crap, yes. I remember a LONG LONG while back, I needed a bucket for a quest, and I was completly clueless as to where to find one, and I was muted at the time by some trigger happy guy. Anyway, there was this big group of tree cutters, and I ALMOST charaded my way into telling them what I wanted but then they all got bored and ran away.

Although the one guy asked if I was muted, and I 'Jumped for Joy' XD

I remember when I first got my full set of rune armor. I saved for a week or two. Then I walked into the wilderness, attacked a guy two levels below me wearing his birthday suit, and he shot me full of arrows and took my armor. That sucked.
*tries to hold back laughter*

But, why would you take something into the wilderness that was so precious? (And it sounded to me like you already killed another player so, skull above your head)

I can't believe I still remember my password. I left a bit before the restrictions came in. I went back a couple of times to try and get back into it but the trade restrictions ruined that game.

I voted to bring back free trade, I don't give a fuck about The Wildy. I don't know why I care, I haven't played properly in over 4 years.

I remember I used to play that damn life-sucking game during my pre-teen years.
I pretty much zoned out of it when they introduced those trading limits, but even if they re-introduced the old system, I still couldn't see myself going back to it.

The only things that will come out of allowing this to pass are scammers, griefers, and exploiters, and the last thing I want to see is Runescape returning to the flame-worthy way it used to be.
But that was when it was fun. It's not enough to make me go back though.

I remember Runescape. Fun while my interest in it lasted. Then, I got bored. Don't think I'll ever go back to it. I quit it before they got rid of that stuff.

Stopped playing after they removed the Wildy. Considering how they never fixed the combat triangle, I won't be playing again.

I did play a private server for a short time not long ago. The balance was worse than the real game though.

Or even better yet, whenever you had to go anywhere or do any quest it always usually goes like this...

Me: Finally! I've got all the ingredients I need to finish this quest... Oh look, a shortcut!

*Walks over to gate*

NPC: I'm sorry sir! But you have to have membership to open this gate, non members have to walk through a mountain of wolves that will keep chasing after you until they kill you! Oh, and if you die you lose all your ingredients!

Me: Well I guess if I can get a shortcut, membership must have some use.

*Buys membership*

NPC: I'm sorry sir! But you need to do a level 100 quest, have 50 firemaking, 34 fishing, and be ready to fight two level 300 creatures barehanded! That's just to get the key to open this gate! To get to the quest you have to do five other quests just to have any hope of making it there!

What always annoyed me about the game was they tried to lure you in with all these supposed pros of membership, only to spring it on you that you need to do a bunch of quests (which require you to be a master in skills most people would find utterly useless) just to be able to use the pros of membership in the first place... I learned from that day on that you shouldn't get membership unless you were already a high enough level.
I cannot think of a single shortcut that requires anything even close to that, I can think of a few were you have to do a short quest or get a decent agility level (which is as boring as fuckery!) but nothing like what you described.

Haha, I wanted to show it off. I was like 12 or so at the time. And you got a skull for just attacking another player, not necessarily killing them. I attacked him because he was in the buff and looked weak.
