Perhaps if they also added a one-time-payment.
Then I might come back to it.

The best part about Runescape is questing (for me) and they locked of 98% of the quests for members only.
>_> now that's just being a dick.

I remember how fun it was to be muted for a stupid reason (like calling someone who was following you saying, "Looking for GF, press 111 pl0x!" a noob) and then not being able to explain to your friends why your muted because it never alerts them (or sometimes even YOU) that you've been muted.
That actually worked in my favor because someone wanted to buy my amulet of glory for 30k......i didnt know i was muted but i ended up haggling him up to 60k without saying a word, good times

The only things that will come out of allowing this to pass are scammers, griefers, and exploiters, and the last thing I want to see is Runescape returning to the flame-worthy way it used to be.
But that was when it was fun. It's not enough to make me go back though.
I'd Rather have 100 scammers tricking the little nooblets into giving them their things then not having the ability to trade freely and killing people in pvp. I still play........once every few months its gotten progressivly worse over time tho, ill play alot more once free trade is back

I'm just using the shortcut thing as an example. What I mean is this, they always talk about how you can go to so many interesting places, do so much cool quests, and get a bunch of pros as a member, but as soon as you get membership you find out that half the time, you have to do some ridiculous quest involving you having skills you don't even think would be useful in most other situations at max level, and whenever you want to go to somewhere really interesting, you have to do some ridiculously difficult quest.

Basically, it's like this, Non members get MAYBE 10% of the world, people who buy membership get around 35% of the world open to them... And high level members get 100% of the world open to them because they have the patience to do long quests and fight overpowered creatures.
A few quests involve getting skills to somewhere around level 75, which is were it starts to take ages to level up a skill. There are only a few quests that require such a high level for a single skill. I think the highest skill level needed for a quest is 80, which doesn't require insane amount of grind (still a fair few hours worth though). Most of the time you can even use potions to up your skills a few levels in order to do the quest anyway.

Most of the time they are pretty low level requirments, so alot of the game is open to low and mid level players. Alot of the communtiy actually complains about a lack of higher level equipment and quests.

You won't be attempting those quests till you are very experianced with the game, which means a high level charcter anyway.

There are a few places that you need to do quests for but there not that hard or long, I have done most of them and I am mid-high level.

If your playing runescape, chances are you like the grind and you want max levels in everything. Plus alot of the things work well together, take a hatchet and a tinder box and you can train combat skills, woodcutting, fishing and cooking. So there isn't alot of skills that don't come in useful at some point.

Non members get about 20% and low to mid-high levels get around 95% of the game, only a tiny portion is set aside to high level players, even 5% might be too much.

The max level is 138, a level 115 with the right levels could do everything in the game, easily. He might suck at the raiding and fighting the corperal beast but he could hang in there.

It has been about 2 years since I last played it seriously but before that I was on it constantly for 6 months, a 4 year break before than about 2 years constantly on it before that all with the same account, so I know what I am talking about.

I really couldn't care less if the Wilderness and Free Trade returned, with or without free trade the economy is just as corrupt, without it merch clans, with it people must rely on the rich people of World 2. As for the wilderness... I don't go into the wilderness anyway, which really is a waste of my combat skills... mmm *Ponders* oh well.

This could be a big drawback to a lot of the players who have made some kind of gp-making strategy with the current trade system, and my brother who still plays knows a lot of that kind of players. I don't exactly know how these RS "businesspeople" will take this, but I'm speculating a small backlash, but overall, things will look up for the game. I never really cared about trading though, because the only thing I enjoyed with RS is doing quests and the holiday events, not leveling up or getting fancy stuff. Probably the best kind of armor I've had was a Guthix, but that's it. I'm not going to play RS again anytime soon, though.

So this big update was released on the 1st. The removal of it in the first place was the reason I stopped playing. Anybody know if the game is anything like it used to be? I enjoyed PKing and the freetrade, it was my best source of income.

The problem with the voting was you couldn't vote to return Trading or the Wilderness serperately. It's like they didn't realise there'd be people who actually thought Trading and Fighting were different things...

The wilderness wasn't even that good in the first place. The combat wasn't good enough for fights to be meaningful. They replaced the wilderness with entire PvP WORLDS. PvP World > Wilderness. Now everyone's going to complain about the influx of bots and Real World Trading as if they didn't realise it would happen.
