Does the Milk go in first or last?

I put mine in first, I cannot bare the thought of it going in last, it makes the tea taste awful.
I get slated for this from fellow tea lovers and that I'm "doing it wrong"

Does it really matter?

I put it in after, doesn't change a thing, I find. That being said, I put 3 sugars and milk in all the different types of tea, so...yeah.

I put it in after the sugar, but before the water. Just because it's easier to measure.
How the hell am I meant to tell when it's halfway up the teaspoon when there's water all over it?

I would suggest last.

Every time I put in the milk first, I find it rather difficult to increase the concentration of the...well, tea.

I put it in first and leave it to brew for about 5 minutes anyway, I've always noticed a difference between tea where the milk goes in first and last and I've always preferred milk first.

You're not "doing it wrong" and anyone who tells you that is a complete fuckwit deserving of a solid slap upside the head, it's all down to personal preference anyway, why do people honestly care if you don't make tea "their way"?

Try leaving it to brew for about 5 minutes, then stir. I find that it increases the strength of the tea.

I never put milk in my tea, and I only use sugar in chai and Earl Grey.

I just noticed that it's not stated what tea we're talking about, generic black tea?

In proper etiguette, milk goes in first. This was because of the fine china used in teacups, which might shatter if you poured hot water straight in.

Nowdays, putting it in after makes more sense, because it makes it easier to tell how much milk is needed.

I put the teabag in first, then pour the water on it. Gets the flavour out. Then I leave it a bit (half a minute if Im patient) then squeeze the teabag against the mug with a spoon. I take it out, then put in the sugar or sweeteners. Then I put in the milk, while stirring.

If you leave the teabag in while you put the milk/suger in, the teabag can absorb some of it.

How to make tea for Flames

Boil the kettle, poot a teabag (or a flat teaspoon of loose tea leaves) in the tea pot. Once the kettle is boiled, fill the pot with steaming hot water and leave to soak for around two minutes. When thoroughly soaked, pour the tea into mugs (using a tea strainer if loose leaves are used) filling them up to around three quarters full. Fill the remainder with milk, serve, drink and enjoy.

It makes no difference at all, when I put my milk in last it tastes crappy because I'm trying not to overfill the cup and don't put as much in.
You may be doing the same.

I put the milk in Last. I like to watch the colours from the teabag stain into the clear boiling water before I waste time trying to get the milk/water ratio right! =)

Goes in last to get the shade right and then merge it all together with a spoon and then put 2 sugar lumps in..

Brilliant..

Also it cools it down effectively..

Ahh, probaly, I like it pretty milky. I'm told it's pointless to even put a Teabag in (even though it taste very much like tea) -_-

My method is: 2/3 sugar or sweetner, teabag, milk, pour water, stir a lot, squeeze teabag and we have a cuppa!
