For Those Excited for Skyrim: What Do You Plan to Do?

I know that I am incredibly excited for Skyrim to come out. I have never properly played an Elder Scrolls game save a few minutes faffing about with Oblivion at my friend's house, though I have played through Fallout 3. I was reluctant to get Oblivion due to the rate at which Fallout went from fun to boring, however after playing Oblivion a bit and listening to my friend's description of the game in action, which I barely got to see, I decided Bethesda's fantasy-style games are worth trying. Enter Skyrim...

My plans are to play through the game as an Elder Scrolls incarnation of Beowulf. We recently read that story in World Literature in school, and I must say I loved the original tale. I loved it so much, I decided I could be Beowulf, son of Ecgtheow, romping through Tamriel. I figure it will be quite fitting, in fact. The game world of Skyrim looks very Nordic, and Beowulf fights a dragon at the end of the story, after killing Grendel and Grendel's Mother.

So, tell me, Escapists, what do you want to do with Skyrim?

Are you going to Shag a monster to?

I assume you're referring to the movie. I'm going by the original Old English (translated, of course) text, in which Beowulf is actually never very good with a sword because he is so strong swords just break when he uses them, and he beheads Grendel's Mother with a sword made by/for the giants.

My first Elder Scrolls game, too!

I want to try to go through it in two ways. One will be a powerful melee-focused warrior with points in more combat-oriented skills and a little bit of magic. The other will probably be a stealthy stealth character who uses bows and magic that doesn't like to talk to people but is secretively a helpful person.

That's all I've got so far. I hope these work well because I'm trying to find an RPG that I really like. I'm usually into shooters but I thought lately that I need to broaden my horizons. The closest thing to an RPG I've played (sans Diablo and Torchlight) is Mass Effect, which isn't even a slightly good RPG anymore. Skyrim could be my best way to start playing console RPGs.

The more I think about it I get alot more RP ideas, but my favorite right now is probably something like the Warrior Priest from Warhammer lore. That and a Nord with the biggest beard possible and him be a monster hunter with a hammer.

How do you know there isn't an Assassin's guild?

it was said at e3. there is only the winters (mages guild), the companions (fighters guild) and the thieves guild.

For one character I will be doing the Gandalf Think (staff and sword).

Another will be a assassiny character versed in magic that complement's his skillset.

The third and ones that come after the third will be whatever the heck I decide on after the first two.

I'm going to make a Nord warrior and bash my way through while I'm learning the new mechanics, landscape, abilities etc and then probably role play my way through a few more times. I fully expect it to eat most of the 6-8 months after release date.

pre-order it in about a month and pay it all off, then hibernate till Nov. 10, then wake up and cry about how much longer is left till i can put the SPAWN of GOD into my X-box 360.

I will pick out a lumber town...

And to be an assshole I will sabotage every lumber manufactuering place, Everytime they fix it. There main export will be gone and there acsess to food will dwindle, Eventually they will find it nesscary to buy wood from other towns importing it into there, And pay out the ass to do so. Just as they had been doing to every other town. However before these shipments reach the town I will ambush the caravans, Takeing over and chargeing them an even higher rate, 10000g for one cubic foot of wood. If they don't comply with my demands I will leave and burn up all the wood.

Eventually I will bring the town to its knees, Then leave and go kill a dragon.

Edit: Also, Explore every inch of the Throat of the World, Beacuse that is one awesome mountain.

They also mentioned a fourth guild, you don't just talk about the Dark Brother Hood, if you do they might show up and knife you.

Hopefully archery will be more fun with perks and what not. If so, I want to become a sneaky light armor hunter archer guy who explores all the open spaces, hunts beasts and discovers cool stuff. Think the early screenshot of the hunter stalking the deer. One handed, archery, light armor, sneak etc...
