I am an American, and I would be willing to fight for my country. I will say that's not high on my list of things to do in life though.

Anyways, foreign countries huh? There's a lot that goes into the idea of fighting at all, but let's keep it simple.

Countries I currently wouldn't mind fighting for, if the neccessity arose:

Great Britain- Ally
Ireland- Ally
Australia- Ally
New Zealand- Ally
Isreal- Ally
Canada- America Jr., just not capable of defending itself.

There may be more, but at the moment those are the countries that jump to mind as possibilities.

I'm surprised to see how many of ye are willing to fight for Ireland. Fair play to ye, but if things kicked off here I'll be under my bed trying not to get shot, along with the rest of the country.

Agreed. People's Republic of Australia ftw...

Anyone who genuinely thinks that they'd actually be willing to die for something without actually being in a situation where they can ultimately decide so is lying, so this thread is effectively pointless aside from the fact that people are listing their favourite countries.
Its just that 'Foreign countries you'd gladly fight to the death for' is a complete overkill of a title and only encourages self-righteous douchebaggish responses.

My own, Australia
Those my family and heritage are from. Britain, Germany
Iv'e also always been interested in and admired Russia, have some great friends from there too. So while perhaps i wouldn't fight to the death for Russia id become a soldier of fortune for it.

I identify more with nations and peoples than ideals anyway so i find it easier to fight for a country and a people than the concept of say democracy (which i personally think is a rather useless form of government, but thats neither here nor there).

I wouldn't sacrifice myself for any country for anything short of an alien invasion or apocalypse.

Don't get me wrong, I do have respect for other countries (Canada, the U.K.) I just wouldn't give my life defending a place I've never seen, heard or set foot in. Hell, I wouldn't even give my life for my own country (Australia) for anything less than fending off the aforementioned alien race or apocalypse (robot, zombie, etc).

I'll fight for family and friends. That's mostly America, but I have some family in Mexico, a few friends in the UK, and one in Australia. If their country was being invaded, and they got the message to me that asked for my help, I'd grab my shotgun & ammo and go.

Now, you're probably thinking it'd be a bad idea to go into combat with a shotgun, but battles are relatively close range. Sure, they could have body armor. If they do, I aim for the legs. Remember, bullets poke holes but shells remove limbs.

If they don't, well some 00 buckshot to the chest is gonna fuck them up. Or I keep aiming for limbs so I can take their rifle and ammo to use.

None. A "country" is just a group of people with similar backgrounds and possibly similar ideals, and a foreign country is a group of strangers at best. I would not sacrifice my life for strangers.

You sir are a smart person and I like the way you think. Though I prefere to keep my distance if possible.

As for me (The future Captain America/embodiement of the American Dream and all thats good about my country)
I pick:

1) Israel
2) The UK and most of their Commonwealth buddies
3) Most of NATO/Countries with the same values/ideals as myself

Why thank you, I like to have a game plan when my life's at stake. I'll be purchasing more weapons to complement my shotgun, most likely ones that are in common military calibers so I can use my enemies' ammo in my own weapons.

I am joining the US Air Force with intention of entering combat branches and I don't even care for the idea of dying for my country. I'll go into danger in a heart beat but the idea of dying isn't exactly fun. There is no way in hell I would gladly die for any other nation when it isn't palatable for my own.
