Ya, I know the feeling. Especially if I post something particularly nasty or controversial in the thread. I play devil's advocate a lot.

It's like when your teacher passes back your test and you're hesitant to see what you got on it.

I wonder how many people love me, because there's no way little ol' me could cause much controversy, right? =D

inb4 everyone quotes the OP to make him feel like the thread describes.
EVERYONE! I say we make this backfire and quote bomb Marter instead. Feel free to ridicule that atrocity of film-making that is Scorpion King 3.

OT: I always worry it's someone trying to argue with me. I'm pretty horrible at arguing, and I feel even light debates make people look like douchebags. Most of the time, unless I have a really good counter-point, I just won't respond back.

Most of the time I get quoted I worry that I have flubbed some important phrasing and now have to sort out some misunderstanding. See, I get tired real quick when writing something of even average post length which makes me more prone to botch the articulation.

Oh well, I will just have improve my writer´s stamina.

Yeah, I get a little rush when I see I've been quoted. It's also a bummer when it's only an announcement--an awesome event is happening 2,000 miles away from you, sucker! Right, so I rarely get quoted, and I usually don't respond and I feel bad about that. But guys, I don't have anymore ideas, that one you quoted was my last one. Leave me the stupids alone, please. As mediocre as I am at socializing in real life, I'm even worse at it over forums, sorry about that.

Same here brother. Not really sure why, and since I am drunk I can not really focus on other peoples' responses. I do know that I tend to be on the high side of nueroticism, maybe you are too? Check it out on Wikipedia, might give you some insight.

I feel a bit like this when quoted.

Same here. If it's just after an aggresive response then I usually look forward to a challenge.

For some reason I'm more social in person so I guess I have a little anxiety here.

I'm usually meh about forum messages. They're usually from the user group I'm in, or quotes, which I either toss out or start to argue. I do get genuinely surprised when someone sends me a PM though. :)

Haha, I've felt this way too sometimes.
Luckily not too often, because I tend to be pretty cautious on these forums, plus I generally don't enjoy pissing people off.

It depends on what i've posted recently. If I had recently posted something about say... How much I loathe the Persona 3 Main Character then I would be expecting the next quote to be some guy demanding an explaination. I still don't understand how people don't notice how much of a **** he is, regardless of how much of a "blank slate" he's meant to be. Remember how Yahtzee decribed Mike Thorton in his AP review? Exactly like that.

I did recently create an advice thread so that was nice. Still can barely hold my own in BlazBlue but thanks for the help. I was never going MLG anyway XD

I can actually use the Rapid Cancel at all times now. The guard break/barrier guard takes some work since I can't keep an eye on my Guard Primer gauge.

Sometimes the weirdest stuff gets repeatedly quoted. I got like 5 quotes because I posted the Angel Beats opening in a relevant thread, relevant to me anyway. I can twist anything to make it seem on topic if I try hard enough.

Let's try it again!

I love that anime, so I'm going to quote you because I love it and I wan't to ask you if you know any other anime like it.
I also disagree with your opinion on the Persona 3 main character, but I think we've argued about that before. I have to say, I do like Yu Narukami a bit more (Only 20 hours into P4 though).

OT: Its almost always stuff from the MLP usergroup, which is nice because otherwise I would almost certainly have missed the Premiere. Still, I don't quite see why they have to post a message every time someone has a birthday.
Ummm, I guess the easiest anime to recommend would be Clannad but really who hasn't had their heartstrings ripped out by that particular anime already?

Ah, and Hyouka if you missed it last season. It's about 4 friends solving inconseqential mysteries in highschool with great characterisation and character development and it has the best art direction and camerawork I have ever seen in an anime.

Otherwise I can only stream off a load of personal favourites at you. *ahem*

Gurren Lagann, manliest anime that ever was, it's about mechas and manliness

Needless, second manliest anime that ever was, it's about superhumans and manliness. Clothing is representative of health in this one, that is actually stated as canon in the manga. Hence someone wears a dress made of pure iron to be indestructible.

Higurashi No Naku Kuro Ni, pretty damn dark with an awesome mystery story about a group of friends stuck in a closed circle of one month endlessly repeating. With them all ending up dead before the 31st, they all respawn to try again. It all looks completely random but there is a certain logic to the deaths and actions of the characters once you get closer to the end of season 2

Umineko No Naku Kuro Ni: Less dark than Higurashi but substansially less well written. The relationship between the two main characters is really interesting but it all falls apart after the second arc. They cut too much out from the game from what I understand. Have I mentioned that Batter/Beatrice is the best OTP in the world? It totally is.

Code Geass, stars the best anti-hero ever and has ludicrous amounts of melodramatic flair to everything it does.

The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, basically they took the concept of a country's economy and made it into a tangible place where certain people could visit. Then they have random business people fight other business people with their total money balance and assets as weapons, the loser gets completely fucked over in the real world.

All of my examples are supah well written since that's how I roll, except maybe Needless since it's about the spectacle of the fights and seeing characters go on rampages. The show has really good pacing considering it's about people punching each other in the face and the soundtrack is comprised of about 20 different heavy metal guitar solos and fuck all else.

Oh and one to watch this season is Pcycho Pass. Really quite Orwellian in its theme. Basically the police can pick you up randomly off the street if a street scanner detects that your Pcycho Pass level is elevated above a good colour. The ultimate form of crime prevention, picking someone up for "therepy" before they've even thought seriously about commiting a crime.

I mostly approach new messages with apprehension expecting that someone is getting up my ass over something I said. Or, as of recently, expecting that I've been struck down by the banhammer over some misunderstanding or other arbitrary BS.

I usually like getting messages on here, since it's mostly from the groups I'm in, something about a RP or from friends. I don't like getting quotes, the only board that I like getting quotes from is the RP one. If I get quoted on another board it's too often some asshat who thinks I want to know why he thinks I'm wrong. Yeah, no, I really don't care about your opinion, just fuck off.

If I am having an ongoing discussion with someone I don't like on a subject where I know I have the upper hand a single message just makes me feel exasperated. Normally a single message doesn't make me feel all that much unless I have posted something while angry, then I immediately suspect it's a warning notice (which has only happened twice and once over a joke) so the fear shouldn't be that big.

Then there's of course that time when I was the first to post on a news article about the statistics of used games. I came back an hour later and I hate 12 messages. That caused some anxiety. 2 or 3 new messages is usually enough to cause a little anxiety.

Depends on what I've been posting lately, if I don't know what someone could want to quote me for I expect someone to just agree with me on something, if I know I've said something less smart I'm just waiting for a wall of text spamming me for being a complete idiot...
Or then it could be from that one usergroup I am a part of, that's always nice :D

Me? I love getting quoted, it means my post was read and there is an opinion of it and I can't get hard otherwise...
That picture is the best thing I have ever seen. Thank you for spreading the love of Nicolas Cage to the world.

OT: Depends on what I posted really.

I get that too but I post some potentially inflammatory opinions sometimes so I think I have reason to think it. I once got slammed (without an actual counter argument given by the way) for saying Israel had no claim to be a country. So sometimes it does happen.

If I've recently posted in an iffy thread, I always think shit is about to get real when I'm quoted.

Most of the time, though, I'm just curious about how or why someone responded to me.

Hah, oh...I get this every time I've been quoted. I have a small panic attack whilst checking it. Then more often than not it's someone agreeing with me or following up a joke I made, and it's a relief. In fact I'm not sure anyone's disagreed with me for weeks now. I'm just paranoid.
