Meh, It's alright but 'twould be nice to have the username bar in good ol' Escapist blue, to add some colour.

Low content rule :p

Talking about that rule, you ever thought about putting a automated system for it? I see a lot of people not getting the correct punishment for a low content post because nobody bothers to report them, for example fappy did one in this thread and nothing happened, even though it was breaking the rule. I would find it for you, but I'm on an iPod and it's laborious browsing through this site.

OT: I like it, but I think I prefer the old style. Change the grey to the good ol blue and this style would be amazingly awesome.

It sounds like you'll be a huge fan of browsing options, where you can change the color inside the post body itself, as well as font size/type.

We really do listen to you guys, Publisher's Club has been able to access this forum layout change for the past week and several ideas have already been implemented for it. Many of your complaints have also already been addressed before you had those complaints (forum options have been around since before your account was created). If there's any other concern you have, please let us know. We're more than happy to listen.
It concerns me greatly that people in the Publisher's Club, through no other qualification than their wallets, are able to influence things before the rest of us even know that a change is being planned. That suggests something to me that is deeply concerning.

Surely we all use this website, even the people who aren't paying for it directly out of our own (or our parents') pockets. So to not even know that an update is coming until a select few have had a chance to use it and make changes strikes me as deeply unfair.

as an unrelated aside:

I seem to recall saying this exact thing would happen when the Publisher's Club was first introduced, and I was told not to be alarmist because they wouldn't start cutting the rest of the users out of important changes. I would consider changing the entire update of the forum to be an important change, so perhaps I was misinformed?

And I'll reiterate my previous points. It's too big. I'm using the old forum view right now and everything is close enough to the right size. In the new layout the dividers between the posts are too thick. And it's not the inclusion of the avatars/badges/quotes that annoys me, because I can usually ignore them, but it seems like the space where those avatars go has been at least doubled, which means a whole lot more white space intruding on the actual post from the left. With the new forum disabling the badges etc makes the problem even worse, because there is nothing but a big block of white space with some text in it.

And the text is the right size as is. It strikes me that when you have a problem that normal size font (I'm assuming size 10-12) looks too small, then the problem is that the space around it is too big, not that the text is too small.

Before all the information fit into the space designated for the avatars perfectly. In a total width of 35cm, 5cm was taken up by the user info, and 30cm was forum post. Now of a total width of 35cm nearly 7cm is taken by by user info, of which 2cm is just white space. There was barely 2mm of white space in the old design, and a regular sized avatar fit in line with the badges, leaving 1mm either side for the margins of the box. Now the avatars and the badges are out of sync and there is 1.5 cm of space either side of the avatar.

Another concern is putting the date and time above the post itself instead of above the user info. If I read left to right, scanning down a page, currently I start reading at the edge of the user info box and can read all the way to the bottom of the page seeing nothing but people's posts. In the new layout I read someone's post, then have to skip past the date and time to read the next one. I'll concede that this may become more automatic with time, but right now it's greatly disrupting my reading experience.

Also, there are issues with how it actually works. It seems to be running off the edge of the page, which means that it's too big for the 17inch work monitor I'm currently on, and that is a ludicrously big monitor to begin with. On my 16inch laptop the words are pressing right to the edge of the screen, which is serving to accentuate the 'user info on the left is too big' problem.

Also, on Internet Explorer there are problems with: loading times (they have increased dramatically) and a problem I'm running into where if I hover over the 'quote/report/reply' buttons they stick on blue and then I can't access those same buttons on someone else's post.

Finally, I am restricted in my internet use, and have been using a dongle for internet service. Since the new forum update my dongle has now been overtaxed to the point where using the Escapist with the new forum layout means I can't do anything else with my laptop period. This new layout is very unfriendly to anyone with a slower (or even a medium) internet connection. I can't believe I'm the only one who isn't running high speed fibre optic broadband, so other people must be having this problem.

I think it looks good.
More "solid" than the previous version.

On a side not I'm still amazed at how people just don't take well to change, even if there's nothing wrong with the change.

I think it looks good, and as stated in a thread before and possibly already in here, I would love to be able to change the color of the gray bars. I checked the browser options just to be sure before hand.

In any case, thanks for the hard work.

Whatever people think, I just think that there should be should colour added to the boring grey palette.

What interests me is that new looking Bookmarks button I've never seen before this. Can someone tell me how that works?

Just like always the majority start screaming about change being bad and in one week no one will even remember the old layout. This happens always in everything, the new local newspaper layout, the new LoL chracter designs, the new kit of your local sport team... So yeah, so far I've had no trouble with this new layout, it seems to go into a more simpler design which is good as it saves energy and power needed to run the whole thing.

Perhaps it's one of the Pub Club perks, but I've been seeing this for some weeks now.

It looks great. Looked a little bland with all the greyness, excluding hovers, but I've already gotten used to it. The overall larger and more focused looks hell of a lot more "now" than the old one.

It's funny with all the complaints. People hate and are so afraid of change. Facebook is an even better indicator at that, with all the timeline-fuss and actually whenever something changes noticeably.

: If it were up to them, websites would be only HTML, with those awful frame layouts, indecipherable texts... No, actually, I think we wouldn't even have Internet, nor TV. Radio at the most, is just fine, we should have not gone anywhere from there.

There's a couple of structural layout issues on the main site, outside the forums, including inconsistent separator lines at the bottom on different pages, as well as some seasonal content that absolutely should be stickied, for the time they're topical. That would be March Mayhem and other contests, that are generally only visibly accessible in places like news bits and administrative posts on the forums, and those disappear quickly from places that catch the eye and, a lot more pressingly, from the main page. It's quite a big flaw, when the easiest, and often the most consistent way, to access them is through googling.

Good thing I'm a ninja.

I don't really like automated systems because people often end up getting the short end of the stick when there's no one there to evaluate the fairness of a call.

Hmm, I actually quite like it. Whenever the 'Pist changes in any way I usually see no decent reason for it besides making us spend 20 minutes dicking about, trying to figure it out. This change makes the forum a little cleaner and smarter looking, though.

If I have one gripe, it's that moving the quote function from below a post to above a post is getting confusing as hell.

I quite like the new look, but I agree that having the quote button at the top of a post is a bit odd, as you have to scroll up to find it when reading long posts.

I hate change.
This doesn't seem worse in any way other than it looks clunkier at first glance. More noob/new friendly.

Doesn't matter much.

But, the low content rule shouldn't be a subjective thing, which it is now. For example, I got suspended for a post with about 8 words that was answering the thread question, I got suspended because my favourite video game line was shazbot from tribes. Whereas people posting posts with less words get off a lot of the time. I've seen daystar clarion (example) only post a picture and about two words yet he gets off the hook. That's why if we had an automated system there won't be any exceptions, if your post has less than 5 or so words you will get some sort of wrath. I think it would work better, because a rule about the number of words in a post should not be subjective.

But
