Now that is even worse than that one kid getting suspended for bringing in the 2-inch toy gun for a lego playset.

Utterly insane. 'Disruptive to the classroom'? How does a hairstyle that isn't dyed neon-pink and not some kind kind of 2-meter tall spiky monstrosity, distract?

Let me guess, these are the same people who think that teenaged boys and girls should not be in the same school because of how distracting the opposite sex can be.

On a side note, what is a four-year old doing in school? Maybe this is a personal bias telling, but I didn't go to school until I was seven, and concentrating on the class 6-8h a day was hard enough. How can you expect a four year old to do it for even half that?

But... but he's four years old!

This is a bit drastic, but then again they are more punishing the parents, since it will be primarily their choice on his haircut.

If its against school rules, then its against school rules.
And if the school rules are against the constitutional rights, then they are illegal. I like playing this game.

His hair is a distraction? Thats ridiculous. I used to have my hair twice that length and it never distracted me, let alone anyone else.
I honestly think some schools have some insane rules on things such as hair.

Well if its one kind of militarist private school, then they better put the lil bugger somewhere they wont mess up his mind with bullshit
Because they have military schools for kindergartners.... wait a minute...

But seriously what gave you the oh so bright idea that a four year old could even be sent to a military school?

[HEADING=3]ERRRRR WRONG[/HEADING]

When the parents sign the sheet they agree to fallow the rules.

For example, it is legal for me to have cigarettes. Thought if I bring them to school they confiscate them and punish me. Because there is a rule that was made clear to me from day one that there are no cigarettes allowed on school property.

If I join a club that which has an no swearing rule, I can't complain when they kick me out for telling another member to fuck off

To put it even simpler

When you joined the Escapist, you agreed to the terms and conditions to follow the rules. If a mod bans you for calling him a 'fucking douchebag'. You can't go ahead and pull the Freedom of Speech Card. You agreed to follow the rules, or be banned.

If you think the schools being petty, I think the parents are being petty for making the kid go through all of this. Something they could have stopped the next day.

Plus, we're talkin elementary school people. Its not like he's not going to be able to go to college because of this.
It's still a pretty weird rule to enforce. Well, when his hair isn't even that long. Still, rules are rules I suppose

Exactly, I'm sick of people calling Texas overly conservative because of this.

Its a freaking school rule. They're there for a reason.

I hate rules like this. School is about learning, long hair does not affect the learning!!

Its stupid! I remember getting told of at school for having a bit of white on my black school shoes and my parents had to buy some new shoes for me due to this small piece of white embroidery which made my shoes 'un-suitable'. Its all gone CRAZY!

Although I find the school rule to be really unnecessary, it was still a rule and thus the suspension was justified. I don't agree with it, but rules are rules.

As much as I would agree with abiding by school rules doesn't change the fact that this is just stupid. What if the school decided that people who are left handed was a distraction? How about starting to walk on your left foot is keeping kids from getting to class on time? Its not so much freedom to do what you want but I could make an infinite amount of school rules that are just as ridiculous.
BTW From this day forth having a shirt that matches your eye colors is to coincidental and you will be suspended for it. Have a nice day!
