Well if its one kind of militarist private school, then they better put the lil bugger somewhere they wont mess up his mind with bullshit
Because they have military schools for kindergartners.... wait a minute...

But seriously what gave you the oh so bright idea that a four year old could even be sent to a military school?
Your lack of vocabulary is disturbing.
Militarism:" Glorification of the ideas of a professional military " i.e. drill, short hair and other conservative drek etc
Ok fine, though you said military school for a sec. Must have been a long day. But the fact that you didn't listen to the video still stands. It's not a private school. It's a public one. I don't know of any private schools that run a Pre-Kindergarten program.
Ok fine, i was in a hurry and, indeed i haven't, thats why i put the lil word "if" in there.
And indeed i do know some private institutes where you can park your offspring nearly literally just out of the hospital. but 4yrs isnt pre-kindergarden, or is it?

Schools have dress codes, and both students and parents should follow them. If they don't like it, work to change it. This isn't about hair being a distraction as much as it is about maintaining and enforcing rules equally. Why should this one boy (or his parents) be an exception. There is no medical or religious reason for this. The parents want a fight more than they want a positive learning environment for their child, and that poor prioritization for parents.

Father: "Why should I have to hold my child down and force him to get a hair cut?"
Because you also "force" your child to take baths, go to school, eat his vegetables (maybe), and do his homework (maybe). You don't like it, tough. Pay for a private school that allows for his hair or school him yourself (this being a worse idea because he would grow up understanding that he was rejected by the system and would likely foster contempt and anger towards rules/laws in general, i.e. not a good citizen).

I thoght the U.S were "the land of the free", or something like that. Doesn't this undermine that statement just a tad
If its against school rules, then its against school rules.
I'm really sorry to have to say this, and I apologize if it offends you, but it's this kind of attitude that prevents positive change from taking place.
I'm going to quote something for you now: "Every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has a right to, but himself." - John Locke
And HE knew what he was talking about, and that's for sure.

What about girls who attend that school!? Don't they have long hair? Are they isolated from everyone?

If its against school rules, then its against school rules.

EDIT: When you joined the Escapist, you agreed to the terms and conditions to follow the rules. If a mod bans you for calling him a 'fucking douchebag'. You can't go ahead and pull the Freedom of Speech Card. You agreed to follow the rules, or be banned.
the thing about school is that they don't give you the option to just go to another school if you don't like the terms of agreement. they make you go there if your in that district. still, it is school policy and shouldn't have to change just because this kid doesn't want to cut his hair but still, it's a little irrational to think hair is a distraction. really, i think it's just to take away all resistance in the school, so no kids think that they don't want to put up with this, they make sure all kids will follow even some of the most ridicules of rules before they can go there. if not, exile.

keyword option the kid was not given an alternative to cutting his hair. when a school says you cant wear certain clothes you cant wear them on campus but when you get home you can put on those clothes. so by the school saying his hair cant be long and that he HAS TO CUT IT to stay in school they are preventing him from looking the way he wants to look outside of school which is unconstitutional. tell him to wear a wig in school it looks like real, short hair and when he leaves school he can have long hair otherwise the options are education or individuality(outside of school) this ultimatum IS i repeat IS unconstitutional

p.s. you a!*holes who say that texas sucks because of one schools judgments, are to judgmental i live in austin right on the border of austin and the small town right next to it called pflugervill the pisd and aisd border is literally 4 blocks away from me the two high schools are less than 10 miles apart and the rules are very different. and both say that hair can be worn just about anyway(including multi-colored Mohawks) if it is kept clean and neat.
