I hate Fox News, but I don't really think that Obama should shut it down specifically for its views. As a socialist, I think that the news media should not be controlled by corporations, but funded by the people through the state. However, outside of that funding, I think that the state should have no say in the views expressed in the media, although there should be some standard of separating the reporters personal bias when he gives it from the facts of a story.

It's "in" because they are terrible people, not to say they are the only terrible people, but they just are terrible. And no one spins like FOX, No one. Everyone is slanted to a degree but they are practically cartoonish in their obviousness. Also Reagan was a terrible president whose economic policies brought us to where we are today. Also, this is downright saintly compared to the treatment games have been getting in the media recently. It gives good advice on how to not get raped online (don't give out your personal info) and doesn't even remotely try to prove that online games are evil. I fail to see the problem here.

Anyways. I like Fox News... snap. I'm a huge gamer, and even if you hate Fox News the report isnt false even if it comes off a bit more dramatic than is necessary. Honestly there are alot of wierdos out there no? Maybe some parent are too dumb to realize thier kids could be getting messages from a sexual predator over live and you know that it can happen, hell even I have gotten the occasional picture of a batwing or something.

Of course this is true from any social medium over the web and its something that people need to be aware of and be proactive with thier kids to make sure they arent harmed.

It is a local affliate station and in no way represents this Fox News [http://www.foxnews.com/] (<- the real one). Outside of about 6 hours in the day, they play sitcoms, sports games, and soap operas. There are other Fox affiliates that are liberal.

But more importantly, why do the politics of the station even matter? It wasn't mentioned in the OP anywhere. This is just irresponsible reporting, no matter what their "bias" is.

It matters because simply being Fox affiliated doesn't mean they are Fox News or report on any of the same stories.

The one by me, KMSP, is left leaning, but that could also be because I live in a blue state. The conservative local station is ABC affiliated.

Alright, but again, no matter their perceived political "bias", this is still just irresponsible reporting. Liberal or not.

Of course, since it's news, they sensationalize it and make it seem like a bigger deal than it is. "Someone think of the children" sells, after all. But I wouldn't call this report all that inaccurate. I mean, yeah, Fox News is a joke and we all know that, but I don't really see the big deal here.

You don't see a big deal in asking obviously loaded questions like "Xbox a sex predator paradise?"

This is the stuff of parodies, and it is not meant to be, which is a problem.

But that's just news. Of course it's alarmist. It just happens to be a topic that's closer to home for you, so you notice, but news is always that way. Unless you're proposing that all news immediately alter their reporting practices on all topics, this seems like a fairly standard and not incorrect report, if somewhat overblown (which, as I've already stated, is par for the course).
