I played the Bulletstorm demo and felt ashamed for playing it.
My impression was that it was like watching a drooling retarded child who has been told to run around and chant a curse word at an inappropriate time.
Yeah I got a cheap laugh out of it but afterwards I had to pick up a book in hopes of undoing some of the damage I feared had been done to my brain.

Bulletstorm is stupid and its stupidity is beyond words, which is saying a lot because my tolerance for stupidity is really quite high, I have 2 younger brothers and one of my favorite games is House of the Dead: Overkill.

I honestly don't care most of the time what FOX news says, But I am worried that the controversy will end up making the game sell more copies, But oh well maybe the inevitable Bulletstorm-shitstorm will take some of the heat away from Duke Nukem Forever (A game I'm looking forward to) which by what I have seen opens with Duke receiving Fellatio while playing an Xbox ......... outstanding (^_^)

Well if a child plays it that's the parents fault now isn't it???? Fox news should be ashamed of the news reports they put out. Most are just BS.

If a nine year old gets his or her hands on bulletstorm, that nine year old's parents have failed utterly.
...although really, the game appears to be targeted at people who are stereotypical fourteen year old boys at heart.
I disagree. I think this game is an homage to great older games like Duke Nukem or Serious Sam, absolutely no realism just plain fun.
Oh, I agree as far as that goes. The game looks like it would be great fun with a better control scheme (I intend to buy it on PC if, and only if it doesn't require a Games for Windows Live account to play)

Maybe it's just trying to establish a unique identity, but... "dicktits"?
I mean, the stupid, over-the-top mockery of a storyline, the attitude of the protagonist, the reward system for funny kills, all of those things I get... just not the game's use of "profanity" being roughly on-par with an eighth grade "lord of the playground".

"And with kids as young as 9 playing such games..."

What 'such games'? This game isn't out yet. Also, how many nine year olds buy themselves their own games? Kinda in the parents' court there. I thought conservatives were against excessive government regulation, but apparently they make exceptions if it can get them out of raising their own children.

Man, I can't even do this right now. It's just too easy.

I do like that seeing the word "Topless" is considered significantly worse than "body parts that explode all over the screen." Priorities!

And with kids as young as 9 playing such games...
FAIL!

If a parent lets their kids play this game, then they are asking for what effects it has on the child. This game is rated M for a reason. You don't take your kids to see R rated movies, you don't give them guns or alcohol, you don't let them buy porn, and you don't buy them M rated games. If you decide to give them any of those then all effects they have on your kids are your fault. End of story.

About half their arguement from then on out is nullified by the paragraph I posted above and the rest is just wild claims about video games affecting the real world because people play them.

Seriously this entire "arguement" is laugh-worthy.

I played Duke Nukem 3D as a wee child of 8 and I grew up fine. Shake it, baby!

I don't see how Bulletstorm could be any different. If your 9 year old is not smart enough to get that a game != reality then you shouldn't be letting them play mature games? We can't have all games being cute and cuddly the medium is for all ages.

Don't let nine-year olds play this game.
Parents, take your responsibility.

While it makes sense to use personal experience as basis for your research, because it gives you some credibility they should be non-biased and not as you said "push their own hang ups and inner workings onto the rest of humanity as validation or explanation". And there's the problem. People can be biased, as long as matter in question doesn't affect them, and sometimes not even then. We all have opinions which can sometimes be affected by our current state of mind. I personally don't like people patronizing me and telling me how I feel so that's why I'm not a big fan of psychologists, although I find the idea of unraveling human mind quite fascinating.
