There's something oddly charming about Lego Games, eh? Indiana Jones, Batman, Star Wars, all fun. Even franchise I don't enjoy, like Harry Potter, are much more tolerable as Lego games.
They're fun, they're inventive, they pay respect to the source-material without taking it too seriously. And I think its healthy for writers to be able to laugh at their own work and admit that yeah, Batman really is kinda' goofy or Harry Potter is just an awkward protagonist.

So I'm wondering what are some genres you think deserve to simultaneously be taken down a peg and praised as something worth experiencing again? And lets go with the good Lego build, as in no talking, little-to-no perma death and an overall air of goofiness.

I'll list a few:

Warhammer 40k. Just a Lego 40k game, with Orks laughing at heads being knocked off and self-righteous Space Marines lacking any and all self-awareness while being in a self-aware story. And extra points if they include Abaddon and his arms keep falling off.

Silent Hill. If the whole point is to basically roast a franchise, then this is certainly one that deserves it. I know its all about subtlety and metaphors, but I think you could get a decent game out of this. I mean if Pyramid head changed the shape of his helm after every scene and the skinless worm-dogs really just want a belly-scratch it'd be charming.

Legend of Zelda Talk about a franchise with an up-tight fanbase. I think we could all use a good ol' laugh at how absurd Link is, and how useless the TriForces are. Besides, I want to see Lego chickens chase Link around. For this one, a straight remake of Ocarina of Time would be great.

Last, lets go with...Mass Effect. It'd just be fun, honestly. Goofy Lego Reapers, adorable Lego Tali and who doesn't want to see Lego Jack mimic her personality without speaking?

Runners up would be Aliens, FF7 and Half Life.

Doctor Who immediately springs to mind. I know the Doctor is in this upcoming Skylanders knock off, but that's hardly the same. There is such a huge history to pull from in terms of characters and levels it's mind boggling.

As for a gaming franchise... Resident Evil maybe? Lots of characters and games to base off of, puzzles can easily parody the older game puzzles, and Resident Evil already has a somewhat campy vibe. Perhaps they should slightly rework combat from it's current basic 1 button attack for it though.

LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog: Rolling around in the speed of block...
LEGO Civilization: LEGO Gandhi has some pretty high demands in the trading business...
LEGO Hunger Games: I feel like this would have more hub area than actual levels at first...
LEGO Rayman: Now, we're [still] playing with art styles over here...
LEGO Spongebob: Come on... We have the sets... Now, make with the game already, LEGO!
LEGO Kingdom Hearts: Let's go super non-canon with this one!
LEGO South Park: Parodyception!
LEGO Muppets: I don't care how this goes down, I'm buying this shit!
LEGO Boondocks: Not sure of the creator of The Boondocks would be on board, though...
LEGO God of War: Fuck it! Just go fucking nuts with this one!

LEGO Halo might be fun to see.

Either a reimagining of the first three games in the series or something all its own would be fine with me. I think poking some humor into Master Chief's escapades would make for a good time.

FF7 already has a Lego game- the original version.

I really liked those Mega Man legos displayed on this site a while back, a game made from that could rock (ha) giving new life to the series' previously limited stage editors. Also allows players to mix and match robot master abilities, heads, arms, legs and bodies then make any of them playable as well as fightable- the closest thing to this I've seen is in Powered Up and the fanmade game Rock Force, but even those are limited to 8 additional robot masters (loved playing as Dive Man).

I saved myself from typing alot of stuff by saying Smash Brothers!

Imagine these as a playset-

Captain Falcon and Blue Falcon
Fox and his Star Wing
Lucina and Robin in the arena
Any of the Smash stages with any of the character
Shulk and Metal Face
1:1 replica of ROB

Yes please!!!

Also, Tyranids that get bigger by literally eating the world and crapping out more Tyranid bricks, which they then assemble.

You know, I actually considered that for my original post, but it just seemed silly...
Like Smash Bros is already goofy and self-aware and ridiculous! What more can Legos add?

I think it'd be better to just break it down into component games. Lego Mario, Lego Zelda, Lego Metroid, Lego Pokemon, etc...

Lego Mortal Kombat would be fun though...

I could get behind a Lego Silent Hill...

It could never happen since the series isn't exactly well known or popular but I think a Lego Clock Tower (SNES & PS1 versions with Jennifer) could be fun. Scissorman just wants a friend!

Just think of the possibilities!

Lego Sailor Moon
Lego Death Note
Lego Ace Attorney?
....Lego Zero Escape?
Lego D&D

I'll go with Lego Catherine. Nothing could possibly go wrong with that!

Clocktower LEGO would be awesome, but I don't know if LEGO can pull off that tension and atmosphere. Kinda like LEGO Fatal Frame really.

A Total War, just exploding legoes whenever two side clashes en masse or C&C would be interesting, destroyed vehicles can become resources, hehehehe.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of the LEGO game franchise. All the games feel the same. Sure, they've branched out a bit and expanded where they can, but it's still just taking two or more characters through a level, using their special abilities to find the right switch to open the door to the next area, wash rinse repeat.

As for franchises that just deserve to be made into LEGO, that's different, as I love LEGO. I think the Alien franchise would be pretty cool.

The franchises that lend themselves best to lego games are ones with an emphasis on cool vehicles - hence why sci-fi and adventure tend to work well. If they weren't intended for more adult audiences, things like The Fifth Element and Mad Max would be quite good.

That said, I want to see a lego classic movie game, with references to Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Brothers.
