There's something oddly charming about Lego Games, eh? Indiana Jones, Batman, Star Wars, all fun. Even franchise I don't enjoy, like Harry Potter, are much more tolerable as Lego games.
They're fun, they're inventive, they pay respect to the source-material without taking it too seriously. And I think its healthy for writers to be able to laugh at their own work and admit that yeah, Batman really is kinda' goofy or Harry Potter is just an awkward protagonist.
So I'm wondering what are some genres you think deserve to simultaneously be taken down a peg and praised as something worth experiencing again? And lets go with the good Lego build, as in no talking, little-to-no perma death and an overall air of goofiness.
I'll list a few:
Warhammer 40k. Just a Lego 40k game, with Orks laughing at heads being knocked off and self-righteous Space Marines lacking any and all self-awareness while being in a self-aware story. And extra points if they include Abaddon and his arms keep falling off.
Silent Hill. If the whole point is to basically roast a franchise, then this is certainly one that deserves it. I know its all about subtlety and metaphors, but I think you could get a decent game out of this. I mean if Pyramid head changed the shape of his helm after every scene and the skinless worm-dogs really just want a belly-scratch it'd be charming.
Legend of Zelda Talk about a franchise with an up-tight fanbase. I think we could all use a good ol' laugh at how absurd Link is, and how useless the TriForces are. Besides, I want to see Lego chickens chase Link around. For this one, a straight remake of Ocarina of Time would be great.
Last, lets go with...Mass Effect. It'd just be fun, honestly. Goofy Lego Reapers, adorable Lego Tali and who doesn't want to see Lego Jack mimic her personality without speaking?
Runners up would be Aliens, FF7 and Half Life.
