Um....I don't really know what to say about this.

He looks cool but....really? Is this a joke or...?

What do you guys think? Also, anyone know if this is going to be the last DLC character? I hope not...but somehow I think it will be.

Uhhh..... okay then....

first off, I don't own Mortal Kombat, but I have watch all the fatalities and such on youtube, and if I owned a PS3 (or heck, even an Xbox 360), it would probably be the first game I would buy (well, maybe the second, but you get the picture.)

Second, I have never seen, only heard of, (and even what I've heard was only bits and pieces), Freddy vs. Jason, mainly because I have a great disliking of horror flicks (don't judge), but from what I just witnessed.... I'm rather glad I haven't seen it.

In other words, you can ignore what I'm about to say if you want, it won't really hurt my feelings any.

The only thing I can really say about this trailer is this: If this is a fake Mortal Kombat game-play trailer... its a very well put together, as well as convincing, one.

I say this from merely a observers point of view, for reasons mentioned above.

... although, in hine sight... Freddy Kruger as a Mortal Kombat fighter would probably make a lot of sense... when you get right down to it... I guess...

How? That makes as much sense as Star Wars being in Soul CaliburIV.

As someone who loves the MK franchise and this game I am very disappointed by this. With this game having such a throwback atitude towards the previous games, this addition really seems to come out of left field.
Don't get me wrong, Freddy's moves look cool and that furnace fatality looks just plain bad ass, but in a world where people are crying out for more of the old MK characters, I just don't think it works.

The hell are they going to put in after this?George Bush with a machine gun? Xena? Chuck Norris?
Well, Warner Bros. doesn't own any of those, but they do own Freddy Kruger and Mortal Kombat, so I'd say that this is a perfectly valid move. Honestly you're more likely to get Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon, Agent Smith from The Matrix, or a gorrified Bugs Bunny than you are to ever see Chuck Norris in this game.

OT; ...I have no words. Mortal Kombat's plot had never made sense past Deadly Alliance, but now...
Actually, MK9 has the best story mode of all of them and possibly the best story mode in the history of fighting games.

Wait... fourth?

I only heard of Skarlet previously; who were the other two?

Edit: Ah, the trailer says Kenshi and Rain. I had a look on the Xbox marketplace, can't find any of them though.

Well.... I'll have to put my hands up to that point of view, cause I can't really argue with it. You have to admit though... regardless of how much sense this makes, his moves and Fatalities seem to make him fit right in.

Again, thats not to say I don't agree with what you said, the logic seems rather off on this one. And, yeah, people are gonna cry about it... but hasn't that always been the case when things like this happen? I mean, I own Super Smash Bros Brawl, and I eventually found out that they added Solid Snake to the roster, a non-Nintendo character. I can tell you without even researching it that, while it didn't bother me any, I'm sure a lot of Smash Bros fans were probably pretty unhappy about it.

Your also right that, while that furnace fatality struck me as a little creepy at first, when I stop to think about it, its really not any different for the other fatalities... Its looks just as gruesome and psychotic.

Nah, they can't put in Chuck Norris.... that would break the game...

Yeah....they're pretty good (or, rather, I'm alright with them).

I'm pretty sure this is real, seeing as the official MK9 Facebook page posted it. I guess he does kind of fit in to the game, but there are so many more Mortal Kombat characters they could have added! I guess he's a kind of special DLC character. I do hope though that they release more.

Really? Your going to compare this to the Star Wars crud in SC 4?
Let's see what makes more sense:

Three future-esque characters from an unrelated movie series, coming in with weapons that logically should slice right through the weapons of the other fighters.

Or

A well-known and popular horror character, whom is owned by Warner Bros (Who also owns Netherealm studios) and has established himself as a violent and sadistic individual.

Also: What Old MK Characters?
Nearly everyone made after MK 3 was hated, only Quan-chi, Kenshi, Fujin, Havik, Onaga, and Blaze had fans. Everyone else was pretty much ignored or hated. You have to keep in mind, who they will have for the sequel. They can't put everyone in, because it would nullify a purchase of the inevitable sequel.

And for those wondering, this is not the last DLC. It specifically states that the Season Pass, with purchase, gives you a discount on the DLC chars provided (you pay for 3, get 4) and gives you a discount on the future DLC. This isn't the last, there will likely be another season pass.

Oi.

Unless I missed something Freddy only has one glove, not two.

I dunno, I think this is just a PC mod or something, it's just look ... right some how.

I call fake!

Well great, this means that it isn't Shao Khan, Goro and/or Kintaro. Ah well, it looks cool, but still...not as good as playable boss characters.
