Just wanted to know if you guys have any tips for a good flowing free run on AC:B, its something I always seem to have problems with, especialy on a timed mission im having now, i have about 2:15 minutes to get to this doctor and steal a medicine from him, problem is the way over is really bumpy and hard (over rooftops i mean) I always seem to fumble and hang and by the time i get to the doctor its a little less then a minute left, and I just never get in time,

so...any tips? or am i a lost cause?

Hmmm, Maybe trying slightly different obstacles they give you most of the time designated paths you can take. You can also try to look it up maybe you tube or google has an answer.

If possible, don't run on roofs.

Also, if possible, wait for a dawn or dusk guard change, kill everybody on the rooftops, then start your mission.
You can make much better time if you're not getting shot at.

shouldn't running in the streets take longer, since all the people and the turns and curves you need to take? I just thought trying to get a bee-line on the roofs was the logical path

Depends on how narrow the streets are and stuff, and whether the only way up is to vertically climb the face of a building (as opposed to gradually climbing up obstacles whilst moving forward still).

The best advice I can give you is this: practice.

Set a start point and end point for yourself, make the route complex, and just keep practicing. Learn what to look for and how to judge whether or not you'll be able to make a jump. And don't forget, push in the direction you want to jump, even the slightest change in your control stick movement can make a difference.

I believe, and I may be remembering it incorrectly, that the directions of your running and jumping is determined by the direction you press the left stick independent of the camera angle (so tilting right on the stick will always turn you to Ezio's right). It's easy to forget that during the timed sections.

Also, I think I remember the specific mission you're doing. If you take the most straight-line path to the doctor, there should be a sort of path for you (there are signs to jump across, a lamp placed just so you can swing around a corner, etc).

I think I remember the one you are talking about. The way I did it was to run across the rooftops and trying to find the straightest path along, shortest distance between jumps, try to stay on rooftops as long as possible before dropping down. After stealing the medicine just call your horse and ride it back.

I vaguely recall that mission, for one of the Courtesans right? I just ran along the streets and jumped a few small walls in the end. It was the tightest time-trial for me.

I remember that one (t's a courtesan mission where you're looking for a poison right?), took me forever too. i dont remember the exact route I took, but here's what I remember :

Go for the sandbag lift thing at the very beginning (it's to the right)

Then jump for a while until the roofs end at a road, jump down and call your horse

keep riding down the roads until they get very narrow, on your left you'll see some sort of stable, ride down to the end of the street next to it and climb over the wall

Then run like there's no tomorrow and you'll end up in that little square where the doctor is

Steal it and then run around the corner so he cant make eye contact, call your horse and ride down the big street until you hit the big square

once there jump off and run down on your own to the girl since the streets are too narrow for the horse,

i only ended with like 11 secs left tho so you'll probably need a few runs before you're familiar enough to get it right.

Practice. Not just for the missions, but take the rooftops when travelling, should help you get a feel for it. Try to jump from the highest point possible, because grabbing a ledge and pulling yourself up takes far too long.

Try not to take jumps that will leave you hanging from the side of a building. These can add up and slow you down a lot. Other than that, just keep trying different routes until you succeed.

I just practised a lot.

By which I mean messed around on rooftops for hours.

The engine is usually quite helpful with everything, though it occasionally messes up. It's just about getting used to it.

Don't hold down the sprinting button when running on rooftops if you want to drop down quickly. You'll pretty much just walk off. I didn't know that for a while =/

The plane mission took me tons of time to do as well, I always got to the guy up in the tower entrance, but when i tried to throw a knife at him like all the others, he never died, only took 1 life of him. For the life of me can't figure out why.
In the end I just smoke bombed him and shanked him in the back
