From a scale of 1 to 10, how is my top ten games of all time?

Uhhhh, sorry to say, but in my book that's a 1 because nothing matches. Mostly because I'm not a fan of retro games like at all (that also goes for those great/addictive indie ones).

My top 10 would be somewhat like this
1:Battlefield 2
2ortal
3:Guitar Hero/Rockband
4:Oblivion
5:Fallout 3
6:Half Life 2
7:The Witcher 2
8:Red Dead Redemption
9:Heavy Rain
10:CoD4

I know most are very recent, but I wasn't a 'gamer' until I finished my study.
Also it might have been better if you had made this a rate the list above you, thread. Would be more interesting

Haven't played any of these games and i have no interest in them. Lets just say that my rating for this list would be low, our tastes in games don't match at all.

I'll give mine anyhoo, not in any particular order.

1. Baldur's Gate (Go for the eyes, Boo! Go for the eeeeyes!!!)
2. System Shock 2 (The babies need rest .... )
3. Deus Ex (the original and the best JC Denton)
4. Mount & Blade (Hands up if you support Lady Isollo of Suno because she's the only hot one)
5. Rome: Total War (Roman gods are watching! Make sure they are not ashamed!)
6. Fallout 2 (Yeah. His name's Herbert. I talk to him when I get bored.)
7. Elite (once my cargo hold was breached in a firefight ... I had 50t of slaves in there ... I had to sell them as animal meat ... *shudder*)
8. Pirates! (aaarrr!)
9. Neverwinter Nights (Nooo, Aribeth!)
10. Biohazard: Outbreak (the last of the true Survival Horrors. Goddamn I wish this was ported to Steam; it's the thinking man's L4D)

I haven't played or seen most of those so I can't say if I agree, although I don't really like survival horror like Limbo and Alan Wake.

Also the games I do recognise are good games I really like but surpassed by their sequels. Like SSBB and Pokémon Black and White.

I do like Pikmin 2 and the Zelda games though.

On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give you a 4 potatoes, a loofah, and a chicken, since the absolute non-sense and pointlessness of that rating nicely parallels the identical non-sense and pointlessness of wanting other people to "rate" your tastes in games.

Just because you have Tales of Symphonia and the original Pokemon on there, I will give you a 10. Tales of Symphonia is my favorite JRPG of all time and Pokemon is an amazing series, although Silver and Gold are my favorites. I do like The Legend of Zelda but I wouldn't put either one of those in my top 10. I would however have Majora's Mask in my top 10 list. I was never a fan of the Sonic games. Halo isn't my favorite FPS but it is a good game, just wouldn't be in my top 10. Never played Pikmen 2, never played Alan Wake, never played Limbo. Smash Bros Melee was a good game but I'm not a fighting game fan.

Yeah, that. It's your favourite games. I don't particularly like any of them, but you do. And that's why nothing I say will make them anything but a 10 for you.

But it's not about whether they are his favorites. It's about whether or not they are the top 10 games of all time, and he has asked for your opinion on them.

But games are art. And by definition, art cannot be arbitrarily numbered. It is only subject to opinion. And his own personal opinion makes them a 10. Anything I say can't change that.

I would have to give this list a 9; simply because I never played the Sonic game. Otherwise, it's a pretty damn good list. Not all of them are my favorites, but they're all really good games that I've enjoyed playing. Except for sonic, which I don't plan on playing, sorry, Sonic Unleashed killed my hope in the series. 8^/

Well, I do give you props for having two Zelda games, but ultimately, asking us our opinions on YOUR top ten is meaningless. What matters is that YOU enjoy them, not what we think of your preferences.

All those games are good, yet none of them are top ten worthy. Except maybe one of the Zelda games. I haven't played one since I was young, but they are pretty good games.

And to be completely honest with you, I thought Reach was a more engaging story. Mostly because I'm a sucker for customizable characters and I loved seeing my guy in the game.

I must have changed his suit more than ten times.

*** If you intend this to be a conclusive list then i'd rate it fairly low. Some genres are completely ignored, several titles should be added/subtracted, and I don't agree with the order but that's personal. see that's the trouble it's hard to make lists of cross-genre titles because they are often hard to compare and to add all-time to the mix just makes it impossible really.

My list would look a lot different but it would seem kind of silly to wade in at tell you that you are wrong.

I only like 3 games on your list Zelda,Alan Wake and Limbo. I haven't played Tales of Symphonia though.

I'm guessing your younger than me perhaps which would explain your different faves somewhat. I'm not a fan of beat em ups at all so your number one choice puts me off quite a bit.

These things are subjective so it's all cool.

I don't agree with it at all but you do have an interesting selection there, and all those games can be labeled with actually good game or great for their time. I would say a 7 since you made it clear this is just personal preference and you didn't go into why exactly the game play or story's are good.
