There seems to be a common hatred of all things "mainstream" on this site (or at least those haters are the most vocal).

While i was sorting through my games i actually wanted to take a quick moment to see how many games i actually own from certain publishers, and i wondered if people who hate on certain companies might actually happen to have a lot of games from those same companies, because as for me, i didn't even pay attention to the publisher until i became "enlightened" by the internet.

I was hoping this may generate discussion on which publishers (despite all the hate) are popular here (even if one didn't know which publishers they were buying from)

so which publisher(s) do you actually own the most games from? For me, it's a tie between microsoft game studios and EA.

NOTE: I said PUBLISHER not DEVELOPER. so companies like Bioware, Lionhead, Infinity Ward, they don't count, i'm talking about companies like Activision, EA, Microsoft Game Studios, Bethesda, LucasArts, ETC.

For me it's a tie between Bioware, Bohemia Interactive, Bethesda and Ubisoft...

Not entirely sure on the publishers, though, and checking is effort.

With all due respect, I choose quality over quantity (and I've made plenty of bad game decisions in the past). So I'd prefer to answer which publisher I spend the most time playing games from. And that would probably be Valve (or perhaps Bungie...I played a ton of Halo:CE back in college).

Looking strictly at the past few years, Bethesda Softworks.

Looking at the past ~twenty years . . . I don't know, maybe Activision, It's hard to tell.

That'd be Bioware. KotORs 1&2, Baldur's Gate, Jade Empire, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1&2. I don't often end up buying games, but I pick up most of theirs.

Valve definitely, I own all the games.

although to be fair they release games slow enough it doesn't make things difficult for me.

this isn't a question of quality OVER quantity, this is just a question of quantity. simply which publisher do you own the most games from, that doesn't make them your favorite.

Bohemia?
Haven't they only published two games?
Three if you count Operation Arrowhead.

Probably EA, by the looks of it for me.

Counting them up (Edit: this is just what I have in my collection now. I sell back most games I buy)...
1. EA
2. Ubisoft
3. Nintendo
4. Namco-Bandai
5. Atlus/Rockstar (tie)

And a grand total of zero from Activision. They just literally publish no games that appeal to me.

see, i brought this up because of the recent talks of the take-two takeover that may happen. it's a fact that activision and EA are the two biggest publishers out there, and if one of them buys take two, that would mean the future of games like Bully 2, GTA 5, Red Dead 2, and LA Noire 2 would be in their hands. i don't know why, but the two connected in my mind.

I'd like to say it wasn't true but I have to say Valve. For a while though I wouldn't have been lying to say THQ tho...

Yeah, that was scary to me. Rockstar publishes/develops a good many games I love a lot. Activision, for whatever reason, doesn't release anything that caters to my tastes. When a company so big releases nothing that interests me, I get worried about them buying a company I do like.

Rockstar did reject a proposal from EA a few years ago, though. I don't know what advantages would come to them from being bought, as they tend to do well commercially even when a title is risky.

Hmm.
1) Capcom
2) Aksys
3) Square Enix
4) SNK Playmore

Kinda odd. I need more games that aren't fighting games and RPG's.

NIS or Aksys. I own all of the NIS SRPGs that were on the PS2 and, looking over, I have a surprising number of Aksys games.

Final Fantasy V, VI, VII, VII, IX, X, X-2, XII, XIII, Tactics, Tactics A2 (or whatever that one's called), Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories RE, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts 2. I think SquareSoft/Square Enix wins in my collection.

EDIT: Just read the bold note. Does mine still count? I think it does, right?
