Confession time.

I'm a very level headed person in most circumstances, I rarely lose my temper and am usually able to think about things logically and objectively when presented with a problem.

But when I'm gaming for some reason that all goes out the window...

Like most gamers, it's worst when I'm online against other human beings.

I die in the same spot twice... I get mad.
I get killed by the same corner camper twice... I get very mad.
I spawn in front of an RC Car... my flatmates begin to think they're living with a lunatic with tourettes.

Getting frustrated, as we know, is a slippery slope because the more angry you get the worse you play, which usually ends up with me hurling my headset on the floor like a tantrum-throwing 5 year old.

Now a lot of people will say that getting angry at games is sad and if you do then you have a problem, but I disagree. It is in our nature to get frustrated and angry when repeatedly failing at any activity, however trivial. And many games are so compelling and addictive that it's normal to keep grinding through the rage.

SO my questions to you all are:

Do you get easily frustrated while gaming?

How do you feel about gaming frustration and do you think it's stupid?

I rage in games, but I usually just leave it to some small abuse in the chat box at most. I am a little like you, it takes a lot for me to get going in real life and rarely flip out at work or home or wherever shits hitting fans, so I guess it has to come out somewhere and game are the least damaging and easiest way to release it.

Like with everything, I used to get frustrated easily. THe only real time I get frustrated is when I wander about a level not knowing what in the high holy hell I'm supposed to do.

Meh, if you get owned in videogames as much as me, eventually you just shrug it off.

I remember when I was 14 and just getting into videogames, I used to bite/scratch/hurt myself in other ways when everything went wrong in said game.
There's still a scar on my right cheek to remind me of it. :(

It's just ironic because games are supposed to be our way to have fun and relax :D

Thinking back on the last month, the day I prestiged in Black Ops was the most miserable experience I've had in 4 weeks. That's when I start to think there's something wrong, when I play for 2 hours and don't enjoy one minute of it.

If I get angry at a game, I just turn it off.

I think its perfectly understandable to have a little tantrum over it, call the dev team bastards and storm off to play The Sims for a while instead, but some people do take it overly seriously.

I think online gaming is very different. There's always that human element, knowing that there's some prick on the other end ruining your fun for no adequate reason. I can hold online gaming grudge for days.

I am permanently frustrated with everything at all ever.
I cannot say gaming either increases or lessens that.

Generally, I see it as childish getting all worked up over a game. I used to yell at them all the time because that was like the only release I had, but looking back now, it just seems utterly ridiculous.
I do still tell off the character I am playing, though. Just calmly.

Well, I don't have a problem with that as for me gaming is what generally keeps me in touch with my inner child... tantrums included :D

It just depends on the setting. For example, if I'm angry and home alone, I'll easily shout "God damned shit ****." With people around? Not so much.

Yeah. I used to be like that, but recently I just stopeed holding back. My poor flatmates have been getting an earful since Black ops came out...

Want my advice? Don't prestige. Going back to the beginning is a miserable experience. The MP5 and M16 are just utterly underwhelming compraed to the 74u/G11/FAMAS etc... not to mention losing all the good pro perks.

Only ever got frustrated at CoD and very occasionally BC2. I'm playing Monday Night Combat and Reach at the minute and there's no frustration there, only copious amounts of fun.

Haha my Internets been shaped so I'm stuck at level 28 atm, I still have fun tho, sometimes I just have to sit back and laugh at how much I'm raging but I still have my days where I walk in and kill everybody on a server without rage. Although with or without rage I usual do lots of the killing.

In singleplayer, no I dont get angry, in MP I get angry when the other players have Bad manners, for some reason that bothers me a lot more than losing.

Interesting. I found Reach kind of boring but yeah, it was never as frustrating as COD. There's a certain aggression to the animations and playstyle in COD that you don't get in Halo.

I got too frustrated in MW2 to give a crap anymore in Black Ops, if that makes any sense. In any case, if you get frustrated, just take a break from playing and cool down a bit.

I usually tend to get angry over repeated mishaps in singleplayer. There's nothing so frustrating as running around for half an hour, not knowing what you're supposed to be doing, or getting massacred by a boss for the 10th time in a row. Thinking about the final boss fight in Heavenly Sword still gets my blood boiling.

But in multiplayer? Usually it doesn't get to me because respawns are almost instantaneous and the fast action simply doesn't lose its luster, no matter my K/D ratio. On the veeeery rare occasions I actually do get mad I simply stop playing. No sense in hurling abuse at folks, especially if it could be grounds for getting slapped with a suspension or ban.

On a related note, Miracle, you usually strike me as an extremely laid-back, carefree guy who couldn't harm a fly. Can't wait to experience the rage first-hand when I finally get to kick your ass all over Cybertron. ;P

I don't often get angry at a game, but I do quite often get angry at the developers of a game. Noting like some physics engine quirk throwing you off a hundred story building, or some glitch where even without a debugging tool you can take a rough stab at its cause (for exampe talking to a certain character while wearing a red shirt freezing the game every time) making me loose an hour's work to make me flip out.
