If you want to be taken seriously as a joker.. you dress like a joker. If a guy came walking into any business dressed like this of course everyone would think them a joker.. so I guess it is fitting.
Pretty much this, like times a billion.

Not matter what series, be it the cartoons, the fun campy Adam West era batman or the "Why so serious?" Joker from "The Dark Knight" he still dressed up like a goddamn joker!

I honestly don't know what to make of this besides the fact it looks strange as hell.
There's always the comics where's he's dressed far stranger than this. This is pretty tame for comic book Joker.

Well he looks alright.

But he has to have the other part, the voice and the attitude of the guy.

Captcha: If it fits? Oh crap, it's reading my mind again.

My first response: wot

My second response: eh. I don't really care how he looks as long as the character isn't complete crap.

I can not believe they're whitewashing Empire like that! The redundancy in this non-diversity is of the absurdity! :p

OT: Is this Joker Pimp gonna have a choke a ***** into laughter? Or are his hos always laughing 24/7? :p

But seriously, I can't wait for the Joker gangsta rap in the movie's soundtrack... :p

I think it'll work in context. I mean, he breaks out of Arkham hence the prison/asylum sweats and the pimp coat/cane could be the beginning of his dapper wardrobe. I don't think it'll be his costume for long, but it has a place in the story. I can not, however, under any circumstances thumbs up those tattoos.

It's not a costume to me, it just looks like something a colour-blind drunk would throw on for a walk to the kebab shop. And it doesn't matter how mad he's meant to be, people still need shoes to do everyday people things.
In fairness, the shoeless look has worked for the Joker before. Granted, that was in "The Batman" animated series, which was heavily stylized to begin with, but still.

I'd call both of The Batman variations (straightjacket and suit) successful variations of the character. This one, not so much. Take away the green hair and I wouldn't see anything of the Joker in that design. I'd go so far as to say that it's more evocative of Marilyn Manson than the Joker. This says Joker. This says Joker. These all say Joker[footnote]Even if the last one looks like it was probably just a recolor of a Bleach cover[/footnote]. What we're seeing here? It reads shock rock, not Joker. Hell, I'd say this does a better job at doing what Suicide Squad was trying to do.

Looks good to me. Hell, great even.

Personally, I find all these complaints that this Joker design makes it look like DC is "trying to hard" to be hilarious, because clearly none of these people ever actually thought about the Joker in any way before now. Joker has always been "trying to hard". He wore a purple zoot suit for crying out loud. Back in the 40s when the Joker was first created, that smacked just as much as someone "trying to hard" as this does now. People are just too blindly married to the old design without giving any thought to what it actually meant.

Thanks for the segue. I was going to mention that at least it looks better than the awful The Batman character...

I think the jury is still out on this one. The costume could work if the attitude is there, but nothing so far in says "Joker" to me. That reveal is awful not because he looks like a cartoon pimp with too much makeup, but because he is not even smiling in them. And one has to guess that was the best one on a series of long photographic sessions.

I actually really loved that version of the Joker and The Batman's version of Clayface. Though I think that a lot of The Batman's Joker's likability was Kevin Michael Richardson's fantastic voice acting.

The coat is a take on the classic Joker overcoat, and I do like the Arkham pants touch. I'm not unhappy, and I still think Leto is going to do a better job than people give him credit for,
Same. I'm reserving my judgement until the movie comes out. If Leto and the others have stuff to sink their teeth into and the final product has enough meat to avoid feeling like a GQ ad for psychotics, I'll probably enjoy it.

Well, I don't think much of the look, but I'm not going to pass judgement on a still image. Wait to see him in action. The Joker always looks pretty silly, and is given gravity by performance and actions. That's his whole deal!

*Snort* I know the Joker is supposed to look a bit silly, but usually in bright and colorful way that you rarely see everywhere.

Not because he looks like a PIMP! Seriously! Put a diamond on that can and slap a feathery hat on him and you got a pimp!

(Also those pants are an eyesore.)

I...uh...

...huh...

Well, I do think 'avoid him' when I look at him, but not because I think he's the Joker. I want to avoid him because he looks like someone who's /trying/ to be kind of like the Joker, but not exactly sure what he should be going for.

(Also, he must think it's casual Friday at the evil lair.)

It's a big difference, and I don't think that it's a good difference to have. But depending on how the movie goes and just what they're trying to do with it, it might work. Though I just don't look at him and feel the same connection to all the other Jokers that have come before and I think that'll hurt the look with audience expectations.
